Sleep training babies.

Dont @ me to argue because I don’t care about your personal story about it or how your kids are magical sleepers because I have heard it all before and my feelings remain the same.

FastForward2 · 09/07/2025 19:04

The food industry making us obese and the dieting industry keeping us dieting and the NHS picking up the mess.

I’m confused at what you mean. Not judging, just not understanding. Can you explain?

Definitely, a disgusting trap.

CiaoMeow, I’m sorry if you’re struggling with this regularly. Personally, I can’t wait for this awful life to be over. ❤️

I'm so sorry you feel this way. I can empathise as have been there myself, more than once. ❤

historically work was six days a week with trade unions campaigning for a 48 hour week. Over the years it has reduced to 5. It might end up being 4 but it’s a gradual evolution.

more to the point who decided a week was 7 days…

The Babylonians apparently

Transphobia/homophobia. I hate that this is normalised. Anyone who is transphobic or homophobic should be publicly shamed.

But Trans is homophobic?!

I don’t agree with the concept of sleep training little babies. I don’t know how else to word it to be honest! Ferber, pick up put down, chair method, all that stuff.

CiaoMeow · 09/07/2025 19:09

Well what do you want then? What would you like society to accept and expect for women?
If full time working is too hard for women because of periods, childbirth, menopause or whatever then what do you propose as an alternative?

Lesser expectations will mean less opportunity, unequal pay and prospects, and ultimately less of a voice in society.

And I don't need anyone to "tell" me what to think thanks.

Healthcare targeted towards women not the male default

I can accept working full time with periods etc but some women cannot and being told to take a paracetamol and suck it up should not be our only option its 2025 why do we still have so many issues with flooding pain clots etc etc its ridiculous

Donner meat in a box. Or at all.

Absolutely! How can it be allowed? How can people eat it? Urghhhh <shudder>

That it’s illegal to mutilate girls’ genitals (rightly so) but perfectly acceptable to do it to baby boys who have no say in the matter.

It's barbaric and I hate it. If anyone had suggested I cut a bit off DS off when he was a tiny perfect newborn I'd have told them to fuck off. We know girls die from FGM, but little boys have died from their genitals being mutilated too, even though 'it's not as bad'. 🤬 (Actual argument I've seen.)

Getting a woman (often very poor) to carry and give birth to 'your' baby and claiming she has no genetic link (if a donor egg is used) to that child (even though we know that's not true, because during pregnancy genetic material is exchanged between baby and mum,) and then ripping that newborn away from the only person they know, often in exchange for money, is just bloody awful.

Having a 'boss' or 'manager' at work. Not different than a handler of a dog or another animal. It's mind-blowing to me.

Why?

Kids "playing out".

I think that is completely normal.. why do you think it isn't?

Utterlyconfusednow · 09/07/2025 19:17

JaneEyre40 · 09/07/2025 19:14

How? We are not forced to eat it.

Do you understand the concept of why takeaways and fast food became acceptable at the same time as being told they’re unhealthy. Yes we have a choice but if the system cared, why would these foods be not only available but pushed.

ThisMustBeMyDream · 09/07/2025 19:18

Donotgiveashit · 09/07/2025 16:29

Not sure what you mean?

Playing out on the street, unaccompanied by adults. Wouldn't leave a 5 year old home alone, but fine to play on the street?!

ElFire · 09/07/2025 19:19

That there seems to be zero prospect of people sacrificing their cars, flights or daily meat consumption within the next few generations despite the obvious need for universal adaptation. I mean how hard would it be to issue annual meat/fuel/air vouchers so people still could travel and eat meat occasionally? Why are there no car pools? Why is that so controversial and complicated?

Yes! Never got it - well, except maybe when I was young and in love, and planning my tartan themed wedding to Les McKeown.😂

Unfortunately, you can't tell me what to do! DS got 'sleep trained' when I got him into a decent bedtime routine. He slept, I got some time to myself which improved my mental health an awful lot.
