Keeping a dog in a cage inside your house.

Keeping a pet at all. Entirely pointless ( apart from it allowing you to feel superior to / loved by something)

Farting. You get a weird feeling in your body then a bizarre noise bursts out of your arse.

The indignity of the human body for sure.

We wanted to. We fought for the right to do this and to be paid the same as men. It took a while.

You really think women should be kept at home and not allowed to work?

Yes! Because working a full time job AND being a mum/running a house is unrealistic but yet it’s an expectation on women

Clapping. Something pleases us and we slap our hands together.

See also laughing. Such a weird thing to do, but more of a reflex than a choice.

Zoos.

I often think this about laughing. We know what it means (happiness, humour, positive social interaction) so we experience it as a nice, warm thing. But if you actually listen to someone laughing and separate it from that meaning, it's the strangest thing - a really loud, repeated noise that you would associate with jungle sound effects.

Dancing is odd too. So is music. A particular, formalised arrangement of sounds that makes us start leaping around and waving bits of our bodies.

And crows can remember human faces and apparently hold grudges!

The noises they make is utterly bizarre! They sound hysterical.

Fetchthevet · 09/07/2025 18:47

Music. How does some music seem to affect us emotionally? How is it that music can make us cry?

I’m a dog poo picker upper and I have this thought many times a day 😆😆😆

It's especially weird when a non dog owner ( me) meets a dog owner they know and stops for a 10 minute chat. One of us ( not me) is holding a bag if excrement in their hand. Warm, stinking excrement. Sometimes people gesture with it because it's in their dominant hand

Edited

A lot of scientific research has gone into this. In fact a lot of scientific research has gone into humans full stop. Which I find very worrying.

And they are the ones that don’t hang it on a tree!

Mingenious · 09/07/2025 18:50

Putting children in nursery 12 hours a day from a few months old..

pelargoniums · 09/07/2025 18:50

That humans went to the moon. Space travel in general. Please! It’s none of our business up there!

the80sweregreat · 09/07/2025 18:52

airports that charge cabs or people dropping others off five or six pounds for the privilege and more if you go over five minutes. These companies make thousands yet people just shrug it off as ‘ is what it is’ because nobody has anyone to moan to and governments let them exploit the public for what should be free. Same goes for parking anywhere or trying to get anywhere too, over priced and generally shit , yet we all put up with it because of no alternatives.

muggart · 09/07/2025 18:53

Playgrounds which are like death traps.

It depends on the pet. And I certainly don't feel "superior" to mine.

A lot of things are pointless really - bling weddings, status cars, expensive holidays. All of those just allow people to feel superior to their friends and family.

the80sweregreat · 09/07/2025 18:54

Soft play areas and heatwaves. Both belong in the bin

CiaoMeow · 09/07/2025 18:56

People walking round feeling fine and not even having nightmares every night, even though they know for 100% certain that one day they will be dead, and either burned or buried underground.

FuriousInventions · 09/07/2025 18:57

Cutting down a live tree, bringing it indoors, putting it in a bucket and hanging sparkly things off of it, then leaving it to sit there for a full month while it slowly dies and makes a mess everywhere. Bonkers.

No weirder than a non parent chatting with an acquaintance whose baby has a shit stinking nappy and vomit on its top really though, is it?

Would you rather the poo was left on the pavement than bagged and binned then?

Would you prefer that it was illegal and then women go back using backstreet abortionists?
Abortions have always happened. Whether legal or illegal.
I prefer that abortions are legal and fewer women die of complications associated with illegal abortions.

Thindog · 09/07/2025 18:59

That one adult can look after 30plus children, and actually educate them.
Football.

the80sweregreat · 09/07/2025 19:00

I always found Christmas silly tbh. I can’t get into the absolute frenzy that some can about it. It’s mostly faff

Echobelly · 09/07/2025 19:00

Ordinary people defending billionaires having far more money than any human should have, as though those billionaires will care about them defending them, and as though it's we're not all infinitely closer to being homeless than being a billionaire.

CiaoMeow, I’m sorry if you’re struggling with this regularly. Personally, I can’t wait for this awful life to be over. ❤️

You’re paid the same as a man?! Well done to you, loads of other women still haven’t achieved this accolade.

Patriarchy has got you by the nips eh.

This, particularly childbirth.

You give birth, quite often a lengthy and bloody process that leaves you feeling as though you've been run over by a truck (or, in the case of cs, having major abdominal surgery) - and then someone hands you this totally dependant creature and says 'well done, here, now go and get no sleep for the next five years. Best of luck with your recovery!'

That's how it felt to me anyway.

Yes when I gave birth (long labour ending in forceps) I felt like I’d been in a major road traffic accident or something. Could barely walk for weeks, the bleeding, the trauma of a terrible birth, the stitches, the bladder damage, the trying to breastfeed…

… and everyone kept saying ‘wow isn’t it the most magical and special time!’

I was not amused.
