What is something that is popular but is also something that you detest. It can be anything.

Picky bits - can’t fucking stand that phrase
Blake Lively - no, do not and have never got the hype. Rich nepo baby D list actress.
Love Island - trash
Dog/cats being pushed around in prams- if it has working legs, it can walk
Protein products - UPF advertised to the masses as “health” food to make a huge profit. Just eat whole foods that are high in protein.

You?

REDB99
couldnt have said it better myself
you cant go into a coffee bar or cafe and even many hotels now without a flaming big dog under tables never mind the bedrooms
For the record I wont stay in a hotel where dogs are allowed.

Its disgusting and unhygienic and their smell can be offensive

I stayed in a hotel this weekend which allowed dogs. I didn't get the chance when I booked to say I wanted a dog-free room but I hope they only keep a few rooms for guests with dogs. Imagine being the cleaner as well.

I know humans do disgusting things in hotels too but allowing in dogs ups the ante somewhat.

Cotton knickers. They go baggy and have no stretch.

A common theme to mine

Socks with sliders being worn in any context other than in the 5/10 minutes immediately after some level of athletic effort. Pubs should start barring people for wearing them out

Dry Robes being extolled as “amazing” when worn in the wrong context. Obviously just a status symbol for most wearers, so just be honest about the fact it is vanity if you own one. That’s perfectly OK and there is an endearing authenticity to doing so. I have a few things I own just because I like the idea. Don’t try and convince us that dry robes are just as warm and work as a coat, because they aren’t and they don’t - they were designed for a very different purpose and perform fantastically at that purpose. Spend £60 in Mountain Warehouse or Trespass and get something far more effective and sartorially attractive if you want a coat to walk the dog in. I will rescind this one if all the mums I see down the local park with Dry Robes watching kids football have actually just done an open water swim, but I doubt it as the village brook is usually only about 6 inches deep

Hello, @TammyinCork !

I'm also in dairy farming. We have agreed amongst ourselves that politics need to back off as far as farming is concerned, and that the only agricultural minister/adviser (or whatever they're called) should be a farmer. Either that, or get the PM to do a week each on different types of farms, and then they will realise that- despite their expensive educations- they know nothing! Then they'd need a shower and a very long rest to recover from the excessive amount of exercise and lack of sleep that they've endured on farms.

The inheritance tax policy is just going to mean more farms going out of families, and being used as building plots.

I'd have thought that more people would be interested in farming, because of the worry about air miles and UPFs, but obviously not. Perhaps we should get all of the farmers (and farming partners) on here to bedazzle everyone with farming knowledge in the AMA section. That would be an interesting eyeopener!

Let's hope that Ireland stands firm in not copying the current Labour government! Have a good evening. Anyway, I'm off to check the cows before bed...

Well said! The main politician who seems to be a good spokesperson for farming seems to be Alistair Carmichael, the Lib Dem MP for Orkney and Shetland - I've been really impressed with his interventions!

WhatTheShit · 09/07/2025 09:36

Not a farmer myself but I really support farmers, they do a bloody hard job. Thank you.

esem · 09/07/2025 13:34

CherryRipe1 · 29/10/2025 13:19

Hauls of tat for Christmas, Halloween etc, love these times of year, just not the excessive consumption of future landfill repeated each year. Bah humbug.

CharlesRydersMum · 29/10/2025 13:47

Gavin and Stacey. Just didn't get it and I think it was meant to be funny?

Dubai chocolate- feels very status-y

Men in dating apps wearing black tie. It's clearly not standard for you so stop pretending that it is.

Oh yes, men leaning against an expensive car wearing sunglasses in their picture.

The post office in a city centre near me. 6 self service machines, I cashier and no-one babysitting the machines. I now drive out to a village to avoid it.

Agas. Overrated. I've had one for 16 years, yup, they are pretty and handy on Christmas day... but if you want to change your mind about supper then you better how is at the right temperature NOW because its so take forever to warm up.

Self diagnosis. I work in a field related to health and the number of people who say "I have x,y and z" and when you ask them a bit more it turns out they saw a tikok video.

Nylon tights. Ugh. Temperature changes if you cross your legs and texture weirdness. Haven't worn them since the pandemic.

Anyone doing the laundry except for me. You'll get it wrong and I'll have to pull it off the line and do it again. GET IT RIGHT THE FIRST TIME!!!!

Cherrysoup · 29/10/2025 17:23

Horse racing. Disgusting industry.

Massive fake eyelashes, saw some on young policewomen recently, both irl and on TV. Can’t take it seriously! There’s a cohort of girls at work who have them. Looks like a spider crash landed. I do wonder if they’ll look back and cringe in future years or just carry on wearing them forever.

The obsession with Halloween/Christmas decorations: it seems that people are buying pint size Santas/skeletons/ghosts etc given the proliferation of these items in various shops currently. One aisle for Halloween, one for Christmas.
