What is something that is popular but is also something that you detest. It can be anything.

Picky bits - can’t fucking stand that phrase
Blake Lively - no, do not and have never got the hype. Rich nepo baby D list actress.
Love Island - trash
Dog/cats being pushed around in prams- if it has working legs, it can walk
Protein products - UPF advertised to the masses as “health” food to make a huge profit. Just eat whole foods that are high in protein.

You?

OP posts:

People who allow their dogs on furniture.

Who gets to decide what’s appropriate?

Me.

user764329056 · 02/07/2025 17:12

Anything marketed to the masses and the masses turning into sheep and clamouring for the product

That ad for whole body deodorant. One bloke sticks his face in another bloke’s crotch and sniffs.
is that not sexual assault?

It's nothing to do with sexual assault! It's all to do with pushing boundaries and being plain revolting! Just when we think we've seen it all, up they pop again, pushing us to outrage until it all becomes the norm.

People don't need a whole body deodorant, they need to bloody wash more, not spray or roll scented crap onto their smelly body parts to mask the stink! Half the population are the great unwashed anyway! Every visit to any shop nowadays has you walking through the stench of someones breath or body odour. It's disgusting.
I can't stand the visual representations of what pee and period pads are for either. I think we're all aware and don't need to see the appropriate coloured fluids being poured onto them!

So you're as judgemental as she is.

Uh-huh.

Bananas

(And this thread has gone bananas)

A couple of posters should set up their own thread so their handbags at dawn spat can carry on leaving the rest of us to keep to the point!

Moussaka.

There's something about the texture of aubergines that makes me heave.

Reality tv
It’s like watching paint dry.

Usernamenope · 02/07/2025 17:50

Flip flops - the devil's footwear

Desserts that just taste of sugar, which is about 80% of them.

Influencers - the clue is in the name. Why waste time on those whose jobs is to persuade you to be like them or buy their products. Why do you need to be influenced by anybody?

Beach resorts- so utterly dull

France as a holiday destination- apologies for offending with this one.

Block paved drives and front gardens. My neighbour thinks I'm lowering the tone of the neighbourhood with hedges, grass & roses. No dear, your horrible ecological weed blighted disaster looks shyte, I prefer the birds & the bees.

I’m with you completely on wildlife. I have a block paved drive. It replaced a concrete block one. I also have grass, bushes, roses and other plants at the front. My back garden is packed with plants that attract pollinators. I don’t use any chemicals in there and I grow some food in the summer. I think having a hard surface to park a car is okay.

How can you detest it?

Because it’s usually followed by people who want to ram their views down your neck rather than respect your opinion / differences. Also, humans have pointy canines meaning we’re designed to eat meat!

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 02/07/2025 21:30

@Usernamenope usually I’d agree the cheap flip flops are horrible but I’ve got a Skechers goga mat pair and they are lovely and so supportive and comfortable, I know the flat cheap ones make you walk like a duck 🦆

EleanorReally · 02/07/2025 21:31

fake grass

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 02/07/2025 21:32

@OnlyYellowRoses only two pointy canine teeth though out of 32 total teeth

NeilDiamondsBlowDry · 02/07/2025 21:33

@EleanorReally yes it’s horrible

We’re omnivores. Designed to be able to eat a range of foods. We don’t need meat. In the past when we were hunter gatherers, we only caught and ate meat occasionally. Now to produce all the meat shoppers want, it must be ‘produced’ on an industrial scale, causing mental and physical torture to animals. I am not a vegan myself. I have a calcium deficiency and struggle without dairy. Some veg contains lots of calcium, but it seems I need dairy. I admire vegans though. I tried it. Irrespective of the calcium thing, being vegan is very tough, so to do it on moral grounds (as they do) is admirable.

That sounds lovely & practical, at least you've broken it up with greenery & landscaped it. I think our neighbour has a total aversion to flora of any kind, she's moaned about a tree in the back garden that's nowhere near the boundary and suggested the back lawn would look nicer with the turf removed & artificial grass (AstroTurf?) installed like hers. I have the urge to sing Joni Mitchell's 'Yellow Taxi" to her.

Cherrysoup · 03/07/2025 07:07

A colleague was telling me she texts another colleague about Love Island because they both love it so much. I just don’t get it, isn’t it just people having sex with other people quite openly? Call me a prude, but I really don’t need to know that. Just bizarre.

HD brows: they look shit.

Football: I’ve been persuaded to go to a friendly in August. I’m worried I’ll hate it, I just see it as a thin cover for poor behaviour, people behaving badly. I’m hoping it’ll be family friendly.

ShoeeMcfee · 03/07/2025 07:17

Pubs. I don't like loud people; I don't like drunk people; I don't want to watch sport on big screen; I don't drink. Don't like crowds. Toilets are often of dubious cleanliness.

lljkk · 03/07/2025 07:36

Stationary motor cars with engine running, unless the lights are likely to change in next 15 seconds. Delivery drivers and people who left the car empty while they nip to into the corner shop are common culprits. How can they be so oblivious, why don't they care about air quality.

Petrol is very extremely cheap for most people, obviously.

In contrast to OP, I completely understand dogs in prams & find it cute! I walked 2 dogs for one lady, one of her dogs was 14yo and really just needed a slow 15 minutes out, the other was energetic and needed nearly an hour walking at brisk pace. A dog pram would have let me walk them together not separately. Also I met a puppy yesterday who wasn't allowed to touch the ground until he had final jab. Being young, needed to not wear self out so pram to get fresh air , let owner get out to run errands but keep puppy safe was sensible ... so cute, squee !!

what I hate about Love Island is that it is young people having sex on tv. Who wants to see what young people get up to in their private lives? So voyeuristic

This thread is great. You get to vent without criticism. There are gripes on here that I disagree with (especially political ones) but I have restrained myself from commenting - except to agree with a gripe - otherwise it defeats the object of the thread. Just a plea to please allow people to express their dislikes.

Please do! And film it and show it to us. I suspect she's never heard it and won't get your point.
