What is something that is popular but is also something that you detest. It can be anything.

Blake Lively - no, do not and have never got the hype. Rich nepo baby D list actress.
Love Island - trash
Dog/cats being pushed around in prams- if it has working legs, it can walk
Protein products - UPF advertised to the masses as “health” food to make a huge profit. Just eat whole foods that are high in protein.

You?

@Cherrysoup My friend and her DD religiously watch it & get quite worked up over it. They tell me all about it despite me never having watched it. I only know of Maya Jama who hosts it from the trailers.
@lljkk I have a sneaking suspicion that Amazon track if their drivers turn the engines off to get food or go to the loo & give them a bollocking. Don't they time toilet breaks or something in the fulfillment centres?
@SharpLily Yes! If only I could sing like Joni instead of a strangled cat & you're right, she wouldn't get the point.

That sounds lovely & practical, at least you've broken it up with greenery & landscaped it. I think our neighbour has a total aversion to flora of any kind, she's moaned about a tree in the back garden that's nowhere near the boundary and suggested the back lawn would look nicer with the turf removed & artificial grass (AstroTurf?) installed like hers. I have the urge to sing Joni Mitchell's 'Yellow Taxi" to her.

There are some of those soulless types near me too. It’s awful isn’t it. It would be Karma if their houses flooded during heavy rain. We used to have a neighbour across the street who paved most of her back garden and all of the front. She put spikes up along the edge of her garage roof to deter birds. She was very religious, never allowing any conversation to go by without saying “I’m a Christian”. I once asked her what God would think of that. She said she didn’t know what I meant. I said “you know, all creatures great and small. The lord God made them all”! 🤣 Another neighbour (also paved) has put two plastic owls on his fence to deter birds. We have Bullfinches, Green and Goldfinches, Blue, Great and Coal Tits, a Robin, Blackbird and Sparrows visiting our feeders and we love it. I just don’t understand the pavers and nature haters.

As someone whose house was flooded despite my front garden I think wishing a flood on someone is vile. It was a terrible experience and I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I wouldn’t wish it on anyone who had not deliberately paved front and back of their house. These people contribute to flooding. I’m so sorry you had that experience.

I don't think it should be wished on anyone. How would you feel if I said I think it would be karma if people who wish harm on others are flooded? It wouldn't be ok would it.

Food delivery services. Most of the junk being ferried about is barely edible when it's just been prepared so why are people paying a premium to eat the tepid, limp & sweaty version of it? (Possibly delivered by some dodgy bloke who has bought access to the drivers account)

abracadabra1980 · 05/07/2025 14:44

The word ‘gotten’.

SUVs, the silly twats who (badly) drive them and the peril they pose to our children and our planet (the non-electric / hybrid ones).

Pootle10 · 05/07/2025 18:14

Wine.
Soap Operas.
Tik Tok.

Nopesnow · 05/07/2025 18:16

I'm glad you asked!
Abominations;
Avocado. It's sh!t.
Chicken skin, crispy or otherwise, same applies to fish skin. Rank.
Fat on meat that people call "marbling", but just isn't. Absolutely no. I lie and say I'm vegetarian.
Raw onion. Stink and hang on your breath.
Bell peppers. They're all kinds of wrong.
Coconut flakes on top food or sneaked into it. Minging.
Mint sprigs etc added to anything 'for flavour or decorative' purposes. Crass.
Incorrectly cooked egg that's snotted up and wobbly. Speaks for itself.
Margarine in all it's forms.
I'm sure there's more.

SchrodingersParrot · 05/07/2025 18:19

The BBC's obsession with sport. My heart always sinks when I hear the words "Great summer of sport" - which translates into English as "Nothing else on TV for weeks or months on end". I wish they'd realise that not all licence-payers are sports addicts!

I disagree entirely. I refuse to allow sentimentality to stifle or silence a debate. It's why we are now here as a society.

I don’t have tattoos and think you are being OTT.

They aren’t an allegory on society!

Arraminta · 05/07/2025 18:30

Wine. All of them. I have tried everything from Blue Nun to very expensive, selected by a professional sommelier ones. And they all taste like shit.

I like a crisp vodka & tonic in the Summer and a mellow Southern Comfort with coke in the Winter. Cocktails when I'm celebrating. That's it.

Mummof3cuties · 05/07/2025 18:51

Permissive parenting.
Sorry, I meant gentle parenting.

Picky bits - can’t fucking stand that phrase
Blake Lively - no, do not and have never got the hype. Rich nepo baby D list actress.
Love Island - trash
Dog/cats being pushed around in prams- if it has working legs, it can walk
Protein products - UPF advertised to the masses as “health” food to make a huge profit. Just eat whole foods that are high in protein.

You?

When people use an online alias to spout hateful opinions. Sure, preferences for flavours, colours, etc I understand, but you just sound really hateful and your post has now become an echo chamber for bitchiness.

It’s okay to have inside thoughts sometimes.

Hot tubs with bunch of acquaintances or the whole family. I just imagine a soup of everyone’s germs and I don’t believe anyone is cleaning them out properly/using the correct hygiene chemicals.

HRTQueen · 05/07/2025 18:56

Friends (the tv series)

half the better story lines lifted from Seinfeld but done so poorly and it is so so predictable

I do think Jennifer Anniston is an underrated actress but Friends was just drivel in the 90’s and even more so now

and as for people who quote Friends or say oh I’m having a Monica (the worse character terrible actress) 😬

HRTQueen · 05/07/2025 18:58

And Gin

esem · 05/07/2025 19:00

REDB99
couldnt have said it better myself
you cant go into a coffee bar or cafe and even many hotels now without a flaming big dog under tables never mind the bedrooms
For the record I wont stay in a hotel where dogs are allowed.

Its disgusting and unhygienic and their smell can be offensive

redkestrel · 05/07/2025 19:10

Oat Milk.

Ghastly stuff. Easily the worst (for.you) of the cow's milk substitutes yet lemmings can't get enough of it. I even saw someone with oatly merchandise yesterday. Give your head a wobble.

I’m sorry for your loss and I don’t doubt the love and pain behind your decision. But even the most heartfelt reasons don’t justify tattoos or make them any more attractive. There are other, more respectful ways to honour those we’ve lost.

Gosh, you have absolutely no right to tell someone else how they should honour their loved ones. Honestly, get over yourself

SummerCanDoOne · 05/07/2025 19:30

Summer...as per my username.

Hayfever, eczema and two out of three of my
regular meds make it more difficult to cope with heat.

Hate feeling sticky, insects, noisy kids playing outside from dusk until dawn, kids at work being a pain because they forget their antihistamines/water bottles/feel faint ad infinitum.

Don't particularly love light evenings either and all everyone does is ask 'are you enjoying this
lovely weather...isn't it great?'

Nope. Can't wait for late September.
