What’s the most controversial opinion you hold?

1000 replies

NC28 · 28/06/2025 19:58

Do you want to share any opinions you have that are (or may be) seen as controversial?

Mine are probably around the severity of criminal punishment the courts should be giving out for certain crimes and what kids should do in the event of physical violence from peers. Both subjects can be quite provoking for others.

What are yours?

Each to their own, but if genetics is XY and XX, then how can people think beyond that, like 100+ etc.?

Agree with every word of that.

Degrees were devalued when John Major turned all the tech colleges which used to provide 1 or 2 year HND courses into "universities".

that society should not have to mix with criminals that keep being criminals and there should be eg some sort of island like they used altracz for to ship them off too etc because why should good people have to put up with people that vandalise, terrorise, various anti social behaviours, etc if we want to build a better soicety and if prisons dont stop them or alter their behaviours then they need removing from society

didn't they try that back in the 1700s when they shipped the convicts off to Australia.
I hate how they move well known dysfunctional families next door to decent families on housing estates, Making the place miserable for everyone. they need shipping off too.

People should be able to admit in public they would vote Reform without getting judged. We live in a democracy

thats the thing why should good people have to put up with criminals etc who cannot behave and be a productive part of society etc , you want to mis behave then here is your island, good luck surviving etc

seems the only democracy is when its the right thoughts etc, look at mumsnet threads as a prime example instead of debate and understanding there is many bun fights or shouting loudest ect the ronnie pickering type comes to mind

I just think that once they are eating solids, breastfeeding is sort of redundant. Though I appreciate some babies may take a bit longer.
I think after 1 year is definitely the absolute cut off.

Mares generally start kicking their foals off them once they get fed up of them and they are able to eat.
Though I’m not suggesting we start kicking babies 🤣

Formula fed babies still have bottles of milk at 6 months and beyond though? And nobody calls that unnecessary. It's just milk that continues to be part of the babies' diet.

(Plus at 6 months you're beyond the struggle of sore nipples, sleepless nights and cluster feeding and in the lovely easy bit where you can just latch them on when they need a nap in the middle of the day...)

PearlCity · 29/06/2025 00:30

People should not have babies over 40.

Dragonblo · 29/06/2025 00:30

Last one. As long as both people are legal and consenting. Age gap relationships are fine.

That unless there is abuse in a marriage (including cheating as that is emotional abuse) that parents should do their best to stay together. It is too devastating to the children, both the split and then having to play second fiddle to a new partner/stepdc after.

Just 'feeling unhappy' when there is no defined reason can often successfully resolve over time and with effort from both sides.

I understand where you are coming from, but I think you have simplified it too much. Even if there is no abuse as such, people can get the ick with each other for many different reasons. Ideally they should go to marriage counselling, and if they still can't improve their situation then I think staying together would be the wrong lesson to teach the children.

However, whenever possible - more likely if no abuse was involved - parents who split up should go above and beyond to try and make their separation as amicable as possible, and not be jealous about what happens in their Dx's life. As long as your Dx continues to be a good parent, that is all the children should pick up on.

Being a SAHM is not a "job".
Having a joint bank account with your spouse doesn't make you more of "a team" than those who have separate finances.
Womens football is shit.

Are you a man?

Swirlythingy2025 · 29/06/2025 00:31

plus why do we have democracy ? can you honestly say the average person is fully clued up on the various important political issues of the day ? or are there soaps and football more interesting ?

Having a pet animal living with you in your home is weird. I love animals, I really do, but I believe they should live outdoors. I’ve never met anyone who agrees.

I 100% agree!

I judge women that have kids with more than one man sorry but I just can’t help it! You don’t have to have kids with everyone you meet.

I have 3 kids with 3 dads. First daughter I was 16, second daughter I was in an abusive relationship and I HAD to leave the day he started throwing things at our baby and my third daughter was a person I’d been friends with for over 8 years we’re still together and currently planning our wedding.
I also have my own business (2 actually) and I have a law degree. You can judge all you want but I’m out here thriving

FortyDegreeDay · 29/06/2025 00:33

I think multiculturalism is great, but I think we have to stop the reductionist view that people who express concern about the demographics of their local areas changing are racist or xenophobic.

Cheesenotcheesecake · 29/06/2025 00:34

People can't and don't change sex; no one was born in the wrong body; women don't have penises

In 99% of cases of you're fat, it's because you overeat compared to your activity level. It's not metabolism, or medication, or illness. You're lying to yourself. It doesn't make you bad or worthless, just fat. I am fat btw

In most cases people can breastfeed if they persevere. It can be bloody difficult, yes, but you were absolutely not, not producing enough milk

A significant number of people need to stop caring about being their kid's friend and setting boundaries.

Children with severe physical and learning difficulties are not in fact better off in mainstream schools. They deserve specialist settings. Integration can happen in other ways

People who regularly buy from shein and temu are selfish, short sighted idiots.

That prejudice against certain groups is entirely justified due to those groups behaviour. My proof is that I don't even need to identify those groups by name, only mention certain behaviours and everyone would already know who I'm talking about. Eg if I say 'knife crime, public disorder especially their hooded youth, looting, complete disregard for law', which group comes to mind?

Controversial opinion - it wouldn't really be all that bad a thing if we did completely fuck up the climate and the human population collapsed. Biodiversity will bounce back in a few million years at most.

If everyone, and every sentient being, could die at the same time, without having time to feel fear, and to certainly not feel any pain, then the planet itself should be better off in the long run. I don't think it would take as long as a few million years - but that is little more than hope and guesswork on my part. If somehow all of the wild animals could survive, or at least the ones in the sea, that would be even better.

Swirlythingy2025 · 29/06/2025 00:39

Why is there so much hate for billionaires? People choose to be part of a capitalist society, yet complain when others use tools like the stock market to make money. Either you want capitalism, or you don’t.

TheMel · 29/06/2025 00:39

Punters don't 'think' women's bodies (services) can be bought - they really can. If women are selling their services, by definition they can be bought. Don't blame the consumer.

Edenmum2 · 29/06/2025 00:40

That teaching your children to love animals whilst simultaneously serving them up for dinner is psychopathic
