What’s the most controversial opinion you hold?

1000 replies

NC28 · 28/06/2025 19:58

Do you want to share any opinions you have that are (or may be) seen as controversial?

Mine are probably around the severity of criminal punishment the courts should be giving out for certain crimes and what kids should do in the event of physical violence from peers. Both subjects can be quite provoking for others.

What are yours?

No one really gives a shit about weddings apart from the people getting married and maybe their parents and wedding party. It’s only entitled fuckers who take offence to only being invited to part of the wedding or not being invited at all who believe the couple should downsize their wedding so they can play main character energy. I said what I said. No one can change my mind.

Neither is cooking meat.

And nor is drinking the breast milk of another animal.

There are a lot of disability fakers than genuine cases.

I didn't want to so didn't even try.

I just had this conversation recently with two of my friends who said it wasn't an option for them, they didn't want to, flat out. My mam was the same. No desire to do it.

ExercicenformedeZ · 28/06/2025 23:40

Women who have loads of cosmetic surgery look cheap and vulgar, no matter how wealthy they might be. Also, you can't moan about patriarchy and claim to be a feminist, and then have cosmetic surgery.

That Lucy Letby is innocent and has been scapegoated by a failing NHS.

I agree with this also

I don’t take offensive to this but what do you mean by “if not being able have a baby or the thought of not being able to conceive makes you not want to live?” Would that also be under fertility?

I was struggling how to word it so I’m sure it doesn’t make sense.

Maybe I should have added a trigger warning but I have read on here and heard in real life, women have said that if they were not able to have a child they would have ended their lives or that having a baby has saved them. If your mental health is that bad that you can’t contemplate living if you can’t have a child then I don’t believe you’re in the right frame of mind to be bringing an innocent human into the world. A baby is not medicine, a treatment or a bandage.

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 28/06/2025 23:43

Psilocybin/LSD microdosing should be legal.

dynamiccactus · 28/06/2025 20:33

Any that mean they can bite you when they are feeding!

Ouch.

The baby uses it's lips to latch not it's teeth! Fed my son til 2 don't remember him biting me! I think some can nibble after feeding but it's not like they chomp down on your boobs. I find it weird that people happily feed their babies milk from a different species but stick their nose up at a toddler having milk from its own mother. Its full of goodness and antibodies that stop it getting sick miles better than cows milk.

Lip filler looks ridiculous, I'm yet to see a nice pair of lips that have filler.

The overfilled lip is so distracting. And yes you can always tell. I do wonder when this trend will die. Turkey teeth also look bloody ridiculous. Reminds me of them clatter wind up joke shop teeth. It just looks cheap.

I agree that some disabled people are capable of working. I was wondering about those who aren't.

Or if they are a carer for a disabled child.

Caring for a high needs dependant is work, and if you're genuinely unable to work then you just can't. The issue is those in between who struggle but could do something. Many won't want to if they don't have to. Like my mate's brother who moved back home and plays Playstation all day (he suffers from depression and flopped his graduate career but could absolutely do some pc based admin online - however, he defo wouldn't unless forced to as he'd rather get stoned and play Call of Duty while he awaits his inheritance).

stayathomer · 28/06/2025 23:46

Foolsgold74

I didn’t phrase it properly, I apologise, and I probably won’t be able to put across what I mean- I meant in a man / woman daily non violent relationship, from a western privledged position I suppose, as in a bf/ gf/ man/ wife where the man and women see each other as equals with no hierarchy assumed from a certain type of man (an asshole one if you will!)

There is a lot lighthearted in this thread and I meant it in a daily non violent way, that men are deemed lazy and not contributing and cranky eg in housework but that as women we can be fussy and cranky and irrational. I’m in the lucky position that I don’t hold all men responsible for the evils of the world (have encountered as shoes, had horrible nights with men etc but been lucky) but I won’t be able to argue this or phrase it properly and I don’t mean to offend people who have to live with violence etc. And I work retail mw so the gender pay gap etc doesn’t affect me, we’re all on the same hours and wages and all jokingly just trying to survive life in retail. Sorry if I made it out to be any different than it was

Not sure what you mean. Different species exist, that's widely accepted.

I think you misunderstood me. I understand different species exist 🤣
The poster was calling themselves a speciesist, and I was explaining what they believe.

PregnantBarbie · 28/06/2025 23:51

cadburyegg · 28/06/2025 23:41

I agree with this also

The more I read the less I believe this - despite some attention seekers publicly claiming otherwise.

Far too much weird stuff. Many inappropriate interactions with parents, failing her exams due to lack of empathy, calling up colleagues and excitedly gushing "you'll never guess what....that baby in ward three just died". Giving drugs that aren't even prescribed to that child. It's just too damning.

okydokethen · 28/06/2025 22:59

That some kids are naughty or poorly parented or have suffered trauma, we overlook this and are eager to slap on a diagnosis of autism or ADHD - more often for the parent’s benefit.

100% agree

Ah okay. I get you now. But yes I agree. I don’t think anyone both women and men should have children if either of them have mental health problems. This comes from a child whose parents both had MH disorders. It’s not fair to the child to be raised by parents who are mentally unstable. There’s also the issue of the child developing a MD due to increased genetics components, which both my siblings have.

Didn't they try something similar years ago? Workfare or something?

I don’t judge them as much

Ahh you’re a misogynist. Got it.

cadburyegg · 28/06/2025 23:55

Children who are very overweight should be under the care of a dietician service or similar, with their parents strongly encouraged to take their children to clinics. Weighing them in YR and Y6 and sending out a letter each time clearly isn’t doing much for the obesity crisis.

mullers1977 · 28/06/2025 23:55

comoatoupeira · 28/06/2025 20:30

Agree. Poor kittens and puppies just want their mum.

my Cat has kittens, we kept one, she fed him for months, now he attacks her several times a day, I’m pretty sure he’s ruined her life

Littlecaf · 28/06/2025 23:56

I think tattoos look cheap and tacky
Women don’t have penises
I don’t care about the Royal Family
I think private schools should be banned
I don’t like alternative baby names. A child called Thesia or Lucian is not more interesting or unique than one called James or Sarah

BlooZoo · 28/06/2025 23:56

Abortion is murder unless to save life of mother.

Couldn't agree more. It's so sad to see so many overweight children now. It genuinely has got so much worse over the years.

I'm not sure.

The obvious issue would be that those who've become a bit too comfortable like my mate's brother know that all they need to do is appear suitably unstable and unfit to work. It'd be a bold move to call their bluff because the consequences of getting it wrong are unthinkable.
