What’s the most controversial opinion you hold?

Do you want to share any opinions you have that are (or may be) seen as controversial?

Mine are probably around the severity of criminal punishment the courts should be giving out for certain crimes and what kids should do in the event of physical violence from peers. Both subjects can be quite provoking for others.

What are yours?

If you commit a crime in the UK then you should be deported to the country of your origin, there are over ten thousand foreign nationals in prison here so that would free up some room!

It's actually nearer to 40%

Carrotsurprise · 28/06/2025 23:31

Mashed potatoes are best made with a hand blender to get that gooey texture.

Imuptoolate · 28/06/2025 23:31

Covid lockdowns did more harm than good and anyone who fretted endlessly about who was in their ‘bubble’, crossing the street if someone walked towards them or worrying about taking more than one walk outside per day is an absolute mug. Add to that list anyone who still owns or takes covid tests now!

That’s not to say that I don’t believe covid existed at all, but there’s no way it was as dangerous to the average healthy young person as the government and the media made out.

Elective c section (if not for medical reasons) is a cop out.

I enjoy many drag performances and I think the term 'womanface' is hilarious.

GonnaeNoDaeThatJustGonnaeNo · 28/06/2025 23:32

I hate seeing babies with bottles in their mouths. It’s not natural.

Most women could breastfeed if they really wanted to and were properly supported

PregnantBarbie · 28/06/2025 23:32

All Sharia councils should be abolished (because they're effectively taking the law into their own hands).

The quote us “ the LOVE of money is the root of all evil” which is more accurate imho

And that's your OH, not mine.

That i will happily give money to homeless people even if i know they will spend it on drugs and alcohol

Why? That's just stupid.

Lockdowns were a total nonsense. The vulnerable should have shielded and the rest of us just got on with it.

I'm pretty sure just about everyone acknowledges that different species exist, daddy.

holysmokee · 28/06/2025 23:35

I don’t think blending families and step parents are generally a good thing. I appreciate some step parents are amazing and loved however it’s not something I’d ever do. I’ve lived through one step family nightmare as a child (abuse) and heard of so many more from friends and students- I just don’t think it’s worth the risk, I’d rather be single.

That's going to ruffle some feathers!

I support the supreme court ruling (defo don't want to see any todgers in the ladies) but I did laugh at an online comment about 'resting terf face'. 🤣

No, they think it's ok to exploit any other species other then human because humans are superior.

cadburyegg · 28/06/2025 23:37

I noticed someone has already commented on how they think women shouldn’t have kids with more than one man. I would say I think no more than two is reasonable. And that goes for men too. Literally no one needs to be having kids with every person they have a relationship with. It’s silly.

Blended families are a bad idea in many cases. Kids shouldn’t be forced to live with unrelated children or adults. I will concede that there are a few families it works well for. But these are the minority.

I think we need to take a serious look at how we treat very ill people and if they really have a good enough quality of life to warrant further treatment. I don’t just mean elderly people either. I don’t believe in life at all costs.

There needs to be a huge reform of education and the national curriculum in this country. The education system doesn’t even seem to suit the majority of children now. That’s a problem.

Dogs aren't family members and they should be left at home when their owners go out to the shops for a couple of hours or out to dinner. They should also not be allowed in cafes or restaurants.

Totally agree and I am a dog owner

MagpieCastle · 28/06/2025 23:37

Young people aren't any less capable than previous generations. There was more opportunity in the recent(ish) past in terms of housing costs/availability, jobs and cost of living. The ratio of wages to rent was saner, there was far more social housing stock for those leaving home. It was also easier to work abroad - now those opportunities have shrunk. Young people have a far more complex world to navigate and are not snowflakes. Post-war generations were lucky and some of that that luck has ran out for young people trying to make their way in the world today.

shuggles · 28/06/2025 23:38

What's wrong with doing a covid test? They are cheap and widely available. A covid test was useful last year for me because it confirmed my unusual symptoms were due to covid, and not a potentially serious, undiagnosed condition.

It would also be useful for me today so I would know to stay away from members of my family who are immunocompromised.

Oh, I was more making the point that being disabled doesn't necessarily mean you can't work.

Although that does however raise the question why you'd be receiving benefits if you could work. But you could argue that they do something to benefit society where possible if society are happy to pay for their benefits - I'm not saying that's my view, but one could argue that if people are happy for their taxes to go to the needy rather than having more for their own family then maybe it could be a two way street.

Edited

I agree that some disabled people are capable of working. I was wondering about those who aren't.

Or if they are a carer for a disabled child.

Agreed. People who claim that 'nobody can tell' are fooling themselves, as well. People always say that their plastic surgery is subtle and that they just look 'like themselves, but better'. Bollocks. It's not as if people are going to say to their (botched!) face that they look a mess, is it!?
