What’s the most controversial opinion you hold?

NC28 · 28/06/2025 19:58

Do you want to share any opinions you have that are (or may be) seen as controversial?

Mine are probably around the severity of criminal punishment the courts should be giving out for certain crimes and what kids should do in the event of physical violence from peers. Both subjects can be quite provoking for others.

What are yours?

Most female celebrities dress like hookers and they’re doing it because they’ve been brainwashed by a patriarchal society not because they’re empowered.

Agree, what comes to mind is BGT or as I call it britains got no talent, what's with the women judges? Is it mandatory to have your tit's bearly covered on that show? So many female presenters dressed like hookers....very empowering.

Degrees aren't easier than they used to be, they are just more accessible for poor people. Now that they aren't exclusive to the rich, they try to devalue the achievement and claim the degree is given away. It would be unfathomable for them to accept that poor people are just as clever as they are, but lack opportunities.

Yes.

PregnantBarbie · 28/06/2025 22:47

That cats are better than dogs. They are more intelligent.

Apparently they're objectively not - although some dogs are absolute idiot sandwiches tbf. Cats being 'independent' is apparently not a unique trait to their species but simply the fact that they've evolved less than dogs/are less domesticated.

Yes all the boat people and Muslims

I was thinking more along the lines of the cost of living, Gen Z choosing other vices, and the loss of the pub as a community hub but you do you.

Having a pet animal living with you in your home is weird. I love animals, I really do, but I believe they should live outdoors. I’ve never met anyone who agrees.

I do!

I agree with your opinion about those with profound needs needing a different diagnosis, however my preference would be for those people to get the autism diagnosis, as they did 30 years ago and something else could be found for the others.

It's called attention seeking.

JennyShaw · 28/06/2025 22:47

If I ever go into a coma, I don't want to have hydration removed and nutrition removed. Give me 6 months to see if I come out of it, and if I don't give me an opiod overdose so that I die humanely.

Dragonblo · 28/06/2025 22:23

I agree with you but I’m thinking if there any factors that would change this. Age? LD? What age would you say a child knows that it’s wrong to hit? Like two?

Definitely wouldn’t apply to a much younger child than my child. Would never advocate that sort of response. It was more for their peers, so the kids in the same class at school or in the same age clubs etc.

I think they know that hitting is wrong about 3 years old (in my experience), though impulse control is often out the window at that age, so it doesn’t always work very well, lol!

That most people who say that it will be a good thing if climate collapse means the end of humanity and the planet will be fine without us etc don't realise that climate change is coming for them and their children in the next 10-20 years, not the next 100 - and it will not be pretty.

ExercicenformedeZ · 28/06/2025 22:48

Another one: there was nothing wrong with the government limiting child tax credits to two children. You want a large family, you pay for it yourself.

Aprilrainagainagain · 28/06/2025 22:49

Baby showers and gender reveals are awful. Stanley cups are ridiculous. Take away coffee is unnecessary and McDonald’s is abhorrent.
I would arrest anyone who says “picky bits”.
I would also arrest anyone who likes Dubai.

It's innate biology IMO. Like birds displaying their feathers to attract a mate. We suppress it but on a societal level it's natural behaviour. Men do it too in their own ways.

Cats are not better than dogs! Cats are basically rats with more fur.

Sorry but they really aren't!! They're a completely different genus.....

CoolSnail · 28/06/2025 22:51

Men are not women. Apparently this is controversial.

I'm in no way religious or a bleeding heart. Quite the opposite but an eye for an eye is barbaric and reduces our humanity somewhat. Yes to harsh and lifelong prison sentences but to advocate for mutilating someone in this way is horrifying. Would you volunteer to do it? Or expect someone else to? And what does it say of the humanity of someone who could torture another human in this way.

Yes, horrifying so it should be a could deterrent then. I would volunteer but I doubt there would be any issue in finding other volunteers. If people are evil enough to abuse and kill children then I think it’s only fair they get the punishment they deserve. Death is too easy. Plus why should the taxpayer be having to folk out money than necessary to pay for these pieces of scum. You don’t agree. But I stand by what I said.

I seem to remember Sharon Osbourne on a chat show (maybe Graham Norton) talking about this. She said that her female co-presenters (specifically Dannii Minogue) are all desperate to be noticed by Simon Cowell. To keep their job, they had to bring something to the table to keep him interested in them. Remember how he used to sit with his arm on the back of Cheryl Cole’s chair, like she was his property?

Thonged bikinis are disgusting. Should only be allowed for sunbaking on the beach.

It's not empowering. If men started to do it, you would have a a problem

I don’t think that losing a baby / pregnancy before your period is due can be classed as a miscarriage. It’s simply a pregnancy that didn’t take. Testing very early after DTD is madness.

I’ve had a miscarriage. It was terrible. Very terrible…
But this is what I genuinely think about pregnancy testing.

I agree, there is an expectation now that every missed period and every pregnancy will end in a healthy birth, but biologically it is not the case

Notsurewheretoturn · 28/06/2025 22:53

That 5 foot 3 isn't abnormally short for a woman.

Katie717 · 28/06/2025 22:53

Mental health issues are a cover for inadequacy and laziness for many people.

Gambling is a net positive for society.

The average man has a hugely advanced sense of humour compared to the average woman.

Weddings are boring.

The amount of financial support any individual receives from the state should be a matter of public record.

FlowersandElephants · 28/06/2025 22:53

Breastfeeding is weird. The thought of it makes me
feel sick. I have 3 (soon to be 4 children) and none have ever had a drop of breast milk.

Psychologymam · 28/06/2025 22:53

Pricelessadvice · 28/06/2025 20:05

I find people breastfeeding past the age of 6 months unnecessary.
People get very annoyed by that one!

It’s not necessary to breastfeed your child at all. Formula is an alternative. No problem with that opinion - it’s perfectly valid. Telling me the WHO is incorrect and there’s no benefit to breastfeeding is irritating. It’s a huge commitment to breastfeed for two years and you sacrifice a lot to do so, which is probably why it triggers people when you dismiss the scientific evidence around it!

Beyonce wears blonde wigs and sings country songsm. Isn't that cultural appropriation.
