What’s the most controversial opinion you hold?

Do you want to share any opinions you have that are (or may be) seen as controversial?

Mine are probably around the severity of criminal punishment the courts should be giving out for certain crimes and what kids should do in the event of physical violence from peers. Both subjects can be quite provoking for others.

What are yours?

Religion should be outlawed.

IMO it's all BS.

Nobloodyfans · 28/06/2025 22:11

Long stints of community service for non violent crimes instead of prison sentences.

I find people breastfeeding past the age of 6 months unnecessary.
People get very annoyed by that one!

I’m curious how you believe it’s unnecessary when they need milk until 1? Or rather I mean why is it not unnecessary at 5 months but is unnecessary at 6?

I really don’t care whether people BF or FF btw. But I think framing it in terms of necessary / unnecessary is strange. Milk is necessary; does it matter which type?

Yes, all that is true, I don't think very many previously domesticated dogs would live beyond a few months in the wild. Humans and dogs have had a bond for several thousand years because it's mutually beneficial. I don't believe that dogs are the losers in the relationship, they have a much more comfortable life in a loving home than living in a pack in the wild.

Thank you @Dogaredabomb , my post must have sounded if it random.
I actually realise now that the quote did not quote.
I was quoting a PP's post which said they thought that it was weird that pet animals lived in a home they thought they should be left outside to live, even though the poster said they loved animals. :)

My new controversial opinion is probably that around one sixth of the people on this thread should be allowed nowhere near other human beings.

Or animals

Too old for what?

For the child, they have a 40 year old mum when they're entering reception class.

Good grief, YES.

Yes. Death is too easy for them. There is a film called The Perfection, basically a pedo teacher gets his karma. They don’t kill him but cut off his limbs so he basically is just a head and upper body with a breathing tube, kept alive until he eventually passes away which could in 10,20 years time. That’s what I think should happen to pedos and child killers. Anyone that hurts kids really.

I'm in no way religious or a bleeding heart. Quite the opposite but an eye for an eye is barbaric and reduces our humanity somewhat. Yes to harsh and lifelong prison sentences but to advocate for mutilating someone in this way is horrifying. Would you volunteer to do it? Or expect someone else to? And what does it say of the humanity of someone who could torture another human in this way.

Did I say I would confront or harass them?

The breastfeeding bullies I’ve known love to drone on about breastfeeding & have admitted they like to be challenged about it in public 🤷🏼‍♀️

Just my opinions!

You did say that women doing it beyond 1 are looking to be confronted. They're not.

What I imagine they meant when they said they're happy to be challenged was that they will happily defend themselves if someone confronts them, rather than meekly stopping feeding their child.

What's a breastfeeding bully? Someone who breastfeeds their child in public?

Asunciondeflata · 28/06/2025 22:13

Everyone should say "good morning" or "good afternoon" to those they meet throughout the day.
If wearing a hat, it should be doffed in greeting.

officeeyecandy · 28/06/2025 22:14

Mums of boys are one of the reasons why men get away with so much shit.

People shouldn’t have kids just to put them to bed at 6pm because they are not bothered to spend anytime with them after school/nursery/work.

reversegear · 28/06/2025 20:05

Women are in fact better at driving and parking than men.

Statistically women have more car park style bumps than men I thought? Whilst men have more high speed 'destructive' crashes which are more down to bad judgement IMO than unskilled driving - barreling down countries lanes at 90mph in a manner that only a skilled rally driver could do remotely safely.

I hate to say it but as somebody who regularly drives trucks I see a lot more women exhibiting clueless driving like pulling onto a bridge where they clearly won't fit past me and then just stopping and sitting there. I've had three women do this on the same bridge in the last week but the men always hold back. But men tend to do riskier manoeuvres which is still bad driving but not in the sense of driving along with their head in the clouds.

That can be my controversial opinion. 🤣

Lioncub2020 · 28/06/2025 22:15

That actions should only be called humane if you'd be happy for it to happy to your granny.

Iamnotalemming · 28/06/2025 22:15

Breastfeeding bullies are the people who when you say you choose / chose not to breastfeed think they need to bang on to you why breast is best blah blah - like you couldn’t make an informed decision yourself on what to do with your body for your baby & they won’t accept any other opinion

Yellowtrouser · 28/06/2025 22:15

Nelson Mandela is a murder not a Nobel Peace Prize winner - is that controversial enough?

Dogaredabomb · 28/06/2025 22:09

That people should not have children after they are 35, it's too old.

Ridiculous.
50 maybe, I'd agree.

Fair enough, I agree there, fed is best. Breastfeeding is really bloody handy (and cheap) though, compared to prepping bottles (in my experience) 🤣
