DDs birthday is coming up. She's going to be 19.

She's asked for a CD player. What 1 iconic album should I get?

I'm thinking Jagged Little Pill or What's the story?

What would you get?

I thought Jagged Little Pill as soon as I read the title 😅. Arctic Monkeys Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not or AM would also be great options!

Why not get a album from the year she was born?
Artic Monkeys Whatever People say I am I'm Not
Amy Winehouse Back to Black

What a fabulous idea. Thank you!

Google's albums from her birth year

Back to Black number 1.

Although I think she'd prefer number 5

High School Musical soundtrack 🤣

I'm surprised at the Jagged Little Pill suggestions. I'd think Rumours, Pet Sounds, a Beatles album, or Dark Side of the Moon would be more iconic. Or Ziggy Stardust. But not Alanis Morrisette.

Davros · 27/06/2025 11:18

Never a Dull Moment - Rod Stewart
warhol album - Velvet Underground
first Clash album

The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill

With the recent passing of Brian Wilson, Pet Sounds will once again reclaim its iconic status and start being loved by a new generation.

SailingWonder · 27/06/2025 12:36

Meat Loaf. Bat out of Hell

NoelFaraday · 27/06/2025 12:39

The wall by Pink Floyd or Wish you were here by Pink Floyd.

missingouts · 27/06/2025 13:26

I would get her a now album from the year she was born

PullTheBricksDown · 27/06/2025 13:30

The 90s are now long enough ago to be iconic 🤩 Jagged Little Pill is great. My choice would be Ziggy Stardust but it should be more meaningful to your daughter. So the birth year choice, like Back to Black?

Could you run to a few more classic albums by women? One per decade could be
Tapestry Carole King or Blue Joni Mitchell 70s
Madonna 80s
Alanis 90s
Back to Black 00s
?

Another vote for Blondie, Parallel Lines
Also:
Stone Roses, Stone Roses
Substance, New Order
Rio, Duran Duran

justasking111 · 27/06/2025 18:27

Immaculate Collection Madonna

Fairyvocals · 27/06/2025 18:33

Another vote for Forever Changes by Love. But I like the birth year suggestion, too.
