For me, its spinach. I eat it raw with every meal. I can easily get through 1kg a week by myself 😮

For DP, its tinned fish. He has it every day for lunch. He treats himself to fancy ones which is currently costing us about £150 a month 😮

What about you?

Tea, cucumber (between us DD and I get through a cucumber a day), chickpeas.

Middlemarch123 · 25/06/2025 18:26

When I was discharged from hospital after a kidney stone they gave me a list of foods to avoid. Spinach was top of the list. I was amazed, always thought it was a super food.

mine is avocados and dairy lea triangles. Yeah, I’m weird.

Chocolate

nothing compares to it. I crave it and search for it every day.

I love chocolate too but when I was breastfeed I absolutely craved it, like had to have it. Apparently it's quite common when you have a magnesium deficiency, who knew!

Marks and Spencer toffees. I throw the coffee ones away (!). I really shouldn't eat them at my age - my dentist would be horrified - but they were my go to on a long car journey and now if I'm in the store I am always sorely tempted. In fact I bought a bag on Monday and they've all gone. They are Devon cream, salted caramel and chocolate. Delicious.

Kimwestonhelpless · 25/06/2025 18:44

Corona and crisps.

ChimpanzeeThatMonkeyNews · 25/06/2025 19:19

Those chilled Starbucks coffee things. Man, i love them.

Oooh, 2 of my favourite things.
I'll be joining you!

This but for special dipped in plain chocolate.

Ruelzdontapplyhere · 25/06/2025 19:42

Original coca cola, eggs, toast

Totally agree about the sanpellogrino grapefruit.

But I dont drink too much of it as it is so hard to find

Amazon and also some Waitrose sell the multipacks - I don’t shop in Waitrose but if I see one I always pop in!!

I used to love Findus Crispy Pancakes a long time ago but haven’t been able to get them for years.
Where do you get yours, please?

Iceland do a knock off version that’s good and also 4 for £1 but we get our on brand ones form big Tesco

Bizarrely, my local corner shop sells it, and our local cafe and garden centre cafe. But I only get it as a treat.

My worst is when they only have the lemon / lime varieties. Yuk! Taste like soap.

Blingismything · 25/06/2025 19:52

Tea, decaf coffee.

doublec · 25/06/2025 19:53

Smoked salmon, preferably the super expensive hand-carved onto clear plastic kind from Panzer's. Otherwise, my friends know which other brands I will deign to tolerate. Indeed, when I was recovering from surgery, instead of flowers, my friends all bought me smoked salmon.

Such is my love of smoked salmon, for the six week recovery period post-mastectomy and before I started chemotherapy, I ate smoked salmon every single day (mostly to make up for the fact I was advised to not eat it during treatment which would have meant six months without it.

The other thing I consume is vast amount is freshly boiled hot water. I drink 3-4 litres a day. One of the worst parts of chemo (for me at least) was I found it very difficult to tolerate hot drinks, particularly water 😔

For the past few months, have been obsessed with chickpeas. I eat them once, if not twice a day, every day!

Sanpallegrino grapefruit flavour. It can be a pain to find as it is the most underrated of their flavours, but I love it.

Jalapeños, the pickled ones

Anything pickled really. I also love anything fermented - it’s not even a health thing I just love the weird kind of fusty taste it has. It definitely helps offset the next thing tho… because they’re definitely not good for you.

FINDERS CRISPY PANCAKES!!! The seconds my kids are in bed we are putting on some finders. I don’t care if it takes a few years off our lives, they’re so tasty. I don’t feed them to my kids. I don’t think they would eat them tbh, they’re little snobs.

i didn’t know you could get grapefruit flavour sanpellegrino.
i love the lemon one and the blood orange one.
It’s not available in my nearest Tesco.
where do you get yours from please.

Coca cola in a glass bottle is the best

Icecreamhelps · 25/06/2025 20:39

Warburtons wholemeal toast, butter and a poached egg. In fact two eggs.

Amazon normally. But if we go past a Waitrose I always make DP stop because they sell them there as well!! The grapefruit is the best!!

FurForksSake · 25/06/2025 22:16

Maltesers. I now buy fun size as I could otherwise destroy a family pack in ten minutes.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 25/06/2025 23:59

Tea, peanut butter, cheese

iamnotalemon · 26/06/2025 00:14

WitchesCauldron · 25/06/2025 16:16

Hahahahah i love squash especially blackcurrant. My friends says if you have squash in your house and don't have kids you're weird- but I don't care ahaha

@WitchesCauldron

Guess I’m weird then 😂

People keep mentioning vimto and I love that and now I want some. Will have to get someone to bring me some back from the Uk

I had tuna for tea every night for a week and I stank like a fishmongers after, it was sweating out of me 🤮🤣

For me it’s chicken and apples, eat loads everyday

GluttonousHag · 25/06/2025 13:18

Would you tell me some recipes? I’m a fellow-aubergine obsessive, but I could use some new approaches — my current default is just stewing with tomatoes and basil, or roasting in slices with a smear of harissa.

I would love some recipes too.

I already cook a few Asian and Italian based aubergine based dishes.

outerspacepotato · 26/06/2025 03:56

Mushrooms. I eat them nearly every day. In Omelettes, sauteed, stir fried, breaded and fried, in soups and stews and mushroom bacon. My favorites are maitake, enoki, and oyster.

I can't do without coffee either, even though with perimenopause it's starting to upset my guts.
I eat too many crisps. Am trying to get on to rice/ancient grain crackers instead. They're nice, but it's not the same.
The tinned-fish thing has also made me look at my lunch habit; I buy lunch out every weekday and, even if I eat modestly (Pret's cheapest sandwich or whatever), that's over £100 a month. I work at home, too, so there's no excuse really, other than that I can't be arsed thinking of things to make, and I find it stressful to think about stopping to prep food when I'm busy.

I have real problems with lunches when I'm working from home. I end up just buying bread rolls and shoving some cheese and lettuce on them with spinach on the side 😂

This week, I'm being a bit more creative. I've got veggie burgers. I've made some pesto for pasta. I've bought some fancy market scones. Not outlandish but its getting me to actually think about what I want for lunch each day.

Bread rolls, cheese and lettuce (and spinach!) sounds good to me Grin
If I don't buy lunch out, I just eat crisps, chunks of cheese, crackers, hunks of bread, biscuits...

You've actually inspired me to try to make my own sandwiches/rolls though. I don't know why I have such a problem with making lunch myself, but I keep looking at the numbers and I just can't sensibly defend it, not now everything is so expensive.
