It really is! It isn’t a name I love but it seems it has its fans!

I work with Lisas who are in their early 30s. I haven't taught one since about 2005.

Lisa is a pretty name so I can’t see it ever dying out (especially with Lisa of BlackPink being so popular). It’ll come and go but won’t go the way of Bertha.

SuziQuinto · 14/06/2025 19:44

Frank is really, really popular now.

Had both in my class back in the 60s/70s.

Keith, Barbara, Barry, Tracy, Mark.

There was a baby Mark in the same ward as me when I gave birth this year.

AmythestBangle · 14/06/2025 19:46

Big revival for Percy in recent years! (look it up on darkgreener)

JustAnInchident · 14/06/2025 19:46

A friend had a baby Robert at the same time as I had my youngest this year, I thought that was a bit unusual these days. Goes by Bertie.

JustAnInchident · 14/06/2025 19:02

Iain was on our shortlist this year… baby was a girl so not needed, but I do love it. Good solid sort of name we thought 🙃

Are you Scottish? Asking because of the second i.

Hoooray · 14/06/2025 19:48

Olive is getting popular again - it's similar in sound to the ubiquitous Olivia, but not overdone.

I think Irene is due a comeback, it's a lovely name and has that vintage feel that is so popular these days.

I think Isis will be rare for a while yet...

Piggywaspushed · 14/06/2025 19:48

Gillian and Jill have disappeared - I think Jill might come back.

Joan is now cool. And Joanie.

Robert is such a great name! Shame about Bertie, which is a bit more common like Alfie and Albie etc.

AmythestBangle · 14/06/2025 19:50

I’m actually not, although I do have Scottish family, I just much preferred that spelling. My eldest has a traditionally Scottish name as well.

Doomygloomy · 14/06/2025 19:50

PlumpAndCircumstance · 14/06/2025 14:49

I think Mark has never fully gone away, and will definitely have a revival, along with Paul, Stephen and Jonathon, which in my mind are similar vintage.

i don’t expect Percy or Barry to come back.

My friend has just called her son Percy !

I thought the same really, makes it rather more ubiquitous.

Hoooray · 14/06/2025 19:51

My parents' Labrador is called Percy 😁

I really disliked the name Olive because of the character from On The Buses, but actually it's really popular now and a nice name.

It’s funny how names can grow on you. I think it was either Drew Barrymore or Isla Fisher who first called their baby Olive that I was literally opened mouthed going Olive! Olive! Because I only knew Olive from On The Buses and absolutely no one was calling their kid Olive (in my age group). Obviously over the years and different countries Olive doesn’t mean that Olive to people. It’s kind of grown on me now because of it’s popularity and it’s been a long time since OTB. Still hard to shift the association though 😁
