BeardofHagrid · 13/06/2025 18:18

The owner of hate forum Tattle Life has today been legally named as Sebastian Bond. He also goes by the alias Bastian Durward. He has tried to flee to Asia to avoid paying his legal costs.

I’ve just seen a thread on this via BrummyMummyof2 instagram. I’ve not had any involvement with Tattle Life so I don’t fully understand what it is but what she has been through sounds dreadful. I don’t understand how people become obsessed with bloggers like that. Celebrities maybe (although obviously it’s still wrong) but bloggers who are basically just normal mums? Crazy. However it doesn’t seem to stop them putting their whole lives out there.

There's no moderation on tattle and there hasn't been for the last few years.

There absolutely is, posts have been removed and users banned and I got a message about a rule I'd unwittingly broken.

Not on certain threads in years. Particularly the bloggers section - Monroe and the like. They used to be visible and then anything went - speaking as someone who got disgusting poisonous lies spread about me on the bloggers section.

Went on for pages and was lapped up by the masses until I worked out who it was and said so elsewhere.

I begged for the stuff to be taken down - and nothing. Someone actually messaged me elsewhere and said the stuff that was being posted was so vicious - they were taken aback - and I'm not an influencer.

The site might have banned people - but rarely is anything removed - particularly on the bloggers section

Mumsnet removes posts daily. Not tattle

Do we think everyone will be outed?

GreenClock · 14/06/2025 19:20

An interesting case.

Lalawy22 · 14/06/2025 19:08

Do we think everyone will be outed?

I’m not sure how all the members names could be revealed as there would surely be GDPR issues. There are over 370K members, quite a number of these will have registered, read but not posted and also quite a number who don’t post anything defamatory, etc - the site is not illegal and it’s hard to see how these posters can have their personal information released to the public

There are threads on Tattle which are about topics other than influencers.

BlackBeltInOrigami · 14/06/2025 19:34

I quite like the site- it’s my guilty pleasure. Yes there are a lot of bitchy needless comments, but it’s also opened my eyes to Popsy clothing, Right Guys Reviews and was talking about the Savile and Schofield stories many many years before they hit the news for instance. A lot that was said on threads over the years has come to be true. It’s good for calling out influencers and how they work which obviously they don’t like.

Goody2ShoesAndTheFilthyBeast · 14/06/2025 19:35

Lalawy22 · 14/06/2025 19:08

Do we think everyone will be outed?

I wouldn't have thought so.

If anyone is are being sued then the court can force the site owner to hand over any information they hold on specific users.

It's happened on here too I believe.

Roobarbtwo · 14/06/2025 18:08

Have you ever had poisonous lies spread about you on tattle that the site wouldn't remove - I have. And the person who posted them was someone that I had to call police over due to an online threat to maim me. I'm not an influencer or a content creator. When someone asks the mods to take defamatory content down. It should be removed.

I can completely sympathise with you going through such a traumatic and stressful situation.

That being said, the flip side to allegations being made publicly, is that victims are given a voice and given the encouragement to come forward.

I do not think that is a bad thing.

Tattle has enabled many people to discuss their concerns for children who are being used as props with complete disregard for their safety, well being or consent. That has prompted huge public debate and calls for legislation to protect children better. It’s enabled rape victims to feel safe in disclosing their experiences. It’s brought and is bringing many predatory men in the media to justice.

I don’t want that to be stifled.

Dollshousedolly · 14/06/2025 19:51

It’s hard though to see how the site can remain up and running now. I suspect it will just disappear suddenly very soon. The owner will now have a number of people trying and probably succeed in taking legal action against his companies, especially if he had been asked to removed defamatory posts and refused.

I’d say it’s coming down the line where all forums - X, TikTok, FB, Instagram, Reddit, Mumsnet, Tattle and all chat forums will have to provide more details when registering (verified addresses provided but not viewable type thing), rather than just obscure email addresses.

The Influencer industry needs to be more regulated too.

I was stalked for over a year by the person who posted that stuff on tattle about me. Online. But no less frightening. She sent me threats to kill me - I have ptsd because of it. And then five years later she rocks up on tattle slagging me off all over the place. A pathological liar - and I politely ask that her crap is taken down. Crap that I had no right of reply to. No response. There is a huge difference between free speech and defamation.

Wayk · 14/06/2025 19:57

Free speech does not give people the right to knock others. Calling people fat, ugly etc and also commenting on children is totally unacceptable.

screwyou · 14/06/2025 19:57

I love Tattle but generally only follow it for once IGer. It is amazing how you see things from a different perspective when you read the comments about her. She is full of toxic bullshit and honestly deserves what she gets, she is a terrible neglectful Mother.

I hope you contacted the police.

I just don’t agree that because some allegations are malicious, that there should be no sites available to offload your experience.

That is awful. I hope the police were able to do something when she made the original threats and when she later posted on Tattle.

They tried but she hid her IP address and police did nothing even though they had her name and location. The cyber crime unit tried to trace her IP address and couldn't. As for the tattle stuff - nothing.

myrtleWilson · 14/06/2025 20:03

The Monroe threads were good exposing her financial grift and the awfulness of her recipes - the 'slop-alongs' really demonstrated the damage of her brand of budget cooking - the lack of calorific content, the miniscule size of portions and quite often the lack of flavour was hugely damaging to people cooking on a budget and gave the then Tory government fire cover all the while she was getting her Ocado deliveries There are much better budget cooks out there and it is shameful imo that she became the poster girl for budget cooks/poverty

Didn't stop the grift though. Awfully Molly on twitter was the person who brought it to a bigger audience. And now Jack Hadjicostas has a 60k a year job. And she's still not closed her patreon. You're right. She is shameful but people kept donating in spite of tattle. Too many people

Jimmy Saville predates Tattle by years surely? It's more than a decade since he was exposed.

HolaEspanola · 14/06/2025 20:43

Thing is it’s not illegal to be on Tattle so outing people wouldn’t be right they’ve not broken the law. Some people just have an account and not everyone on there who IS active has trolled to the extend of others. So wouldn’t be fair to jsut say everyone on there deserves naming and shaming- there’s some extreme trolls who spend a LOT of time seemingly obsessed with the same SM celebs, surely they’ll go after them? Not fair to treat everyone using the site the same way.
Yes if people have defamed and libelled then the social media influencers need to bring forward their own cases for this- and yes if that has happened then it’s wrong ofc.
But I don’t know where we go from here in terms of celebs saying “I need such and such shut down cos it’s vile”. What about the daily mail comments, FB, X etc? It’s the internet, you’ll always find peoples’ negative opinions if they don’t like you.

Aveeno2017 · 14/06/2025 21:05

I've been on a couple of threads and not seen anyone dox anybody. I've mainly seen people call influencers out on their underhand selling tactics and calling them out on their lack of Internet safety of their kids.

Wayk · 14/06/2025 19:57

Commenting on children should be off limits, but of course people have the 'right' to 'knock others'.

Are you saying nobody should say anything unpleasant about public figures?

HolaEspanola · 14/06/2025 21:13

I totally agree that slagging off children is off-limits as they haven’t consented ofc.
Then but that extends to the celebs putting them out for public consumption in the first place!
I just don’t know why they care so much about it- if you don’t like it don’t look!?!
The court case seems to have come about cos they were defamed on tattle (again, wrong) and they wanted the thread removed which the owner refused to do and now look where he ended up.
I reckon he’ll shut it down- which is what they want. But something else will take its place. It’s the way of the internet.
