For me it is terribly pedestrian.

Hot soapy shower before bed. Getting into bed all clean and warm makes me feel so good.

Peppermint tea before bed- same

Getting up at 5.30 am and having a quiet cup of coffee and reading a book before everyone else gets up at 6.

Ah, it’s so nice to read this - generally posts on this topic tend to be about how friends have let people down.

Oh thank you ☺️ There were days when I hit rock bottom like you wouldn't believe but my friends persisted on dragging me out of it 😅

I now always make the effort rather than flaking out, every day is a blessing 🥰

A dishwasher.

I didn't have one until I was 35 and met my DH who would happily leave dishes to fester for weeks and I wasn't willing to be the designated washer of dishes because it was so grim.

So I got a dishwasher and honestly, it's a game changer. Could not be without it now!

Being on maternity leave.

I don't think I realised how much the daily grind was getting me down (especially when I worked way harder than I should for the pay.) the slower pace of life is making me reconsider my priorities.

There is a video on youtube that looks like a pot of blue paint being poured and is called the mindfullness bell.

Its the only mindfullness exercise I can do, and really really helps.

My twice daily dog walks in woods and fields, looking out for fungi, flowers, birds, deer, hare and foxes.

Craft projects.

Sleeping tablets.

@MaMisled i have read an article sleeping tablets linked to dementia (I don’t know how true that is 🤷‍♀️)
however
ive recently started taking magnesium glycinate and I found j was walking asleep very quickly afterwards. Spoke to my doctor and she said it does do that and she takes them to for that very reason(!)

Loading the washing machine before bed and setting it to start / finish in the am for when I get up so I can get straight to drying it and put on another load if needed!

Washing up bowl with a plug in the bottom, so much easier to change out the water, I also have a double sink so I use the smaller to rinse and the water doesn’t get so gross!

Why not put the washing machine going when you go to bed so it’s finished AND dry by the time you get up?

Prioritising finding meaning. For me it was volunteering and finding a religion which have both been transformative.

There’s just more to life when you prioritise yourself and other humans on a spiritual level as opposed to just thinking “what’s my next car going to be”, “what holiday are we going on”.

Really nice soap. My favourites are the Kew Gardens range. I get a little lift just going to the loo.

Dp. It's daft how much he improves my life.

Becoming a Cornish gig rower. Such an epic pastime

Houndsahollering · 10/06/2025 06:55

Clean sheet day. Nothing nicer than getting into bed with freshly clean & ironed linens.

My old hound. Sniffari walks, snuggling on the sofa with him. Watching him play with his toys. He’s just amazing.

The first morning cuppa before anyone else even stirs.

Laundry scent beads. Just started using them after dismissing them as a 'waste of money'. But, oh my goodness the joy it gives me to climb into a clean beautifully scented bed is worth the money to me!

GameOfJones · 10/06/2025 07:56

Reading every day. I wouldn't be without my Kindle and it means I'm scrolling on my phone less.

Prioritising sleep. So going to bed at a decent time, having a really comfortable mattress and nice bedding etc.

Intermittent fasting. I usually have two meals a day and eat between 12pm and 7pm. Water or black coffee outside of those times.

Walking and getting into podcasts. I can put a podcast episode on, head out of the door and by the time I realise it I've walked for an hour and listened to something funny or interesting.

Living somewhere where I can easily walk to places. School, cafes, shops, the cinema, restaurants etc are all walkable from my house and it makes such a difference not having to get in the car for the school run, or to walk into town for dinner and drinks with friends.

Really nice shower and bath products. I love my Sanctuary shower foam or my Champneys bubble bath and it makes every day feel a little bit luxurious. Cost per use is cheap but I'm worth using nice things that make me feel good.

GetOffTheCounter · 10/06/2025 10:27

Aaahhhh. I agree on the cats. They definitely make me happy.

Loving these - and have had some great tips and ideas as well!

How could I forget my new days deluxe rollator! My old one was a rattly bone shaker but this one has suspension and just like pushing a pram without the baby
I've named it " Roly"

What make and model have you got? Looking for one for my dad. Thank
