For me it is terribly pedestrian.

Hot soapy shower before bed. Getting into bed all clean and warm makes me feel so good.

Peppermint tea before bed- same

Getting up at 5.30 am and having a quiet cup of coffee and reading a book before everyone else gets up at 6.

Dishwasher. Life-changing; no more arguments about dishes piling up by the sink.

Just arguments about who's turn it is to fill it with salt 🤣

Doggymummar · 09/06/2025 22:35

Super king bed and individual duvets. The ones you put in the washer whole.

Scout2016 · 09/06/2025 22:35

Did couch to 5k with a lovely local running club who don't take it too seriously, and then kept going once I'd done the 5k.
There have turned out to be loads of benefits from it for me beyond just getting fitter.

@Whatatodo79I agree about the bin bags! For me it was buying the right size for our tall bin- we used to get massive ones which when full would just vaccuum suck into the bin and take forever to come out but the proper talk narrow size just glides right out like magic! Who knew!!

also kids, dancing, studying and not taking any more shit off STBXH

Jollyjollyjollygoodie · 09/06/2025 22:38

Slow mornings, two coffees before I get up
Twice daily dog walks
Giving up alcohol

Zebracat · 09/06/2025 22:40

Merlin. Mounjaro. Swimming. Dogs and gardening.

fairfat40 · 09/06/2025 22:40

Ditching the memory foam for a really good mattress. https://www.harrisonspinks.co.uk

Changing career from an office based job to my own business which is more physical and varied. I can't go back to sitting in front of a computer 8 hours a day!

Finding things I actually enjoy doing now my kids are grown - hiking, gardening, travelling, dressmaking.

BangersAndGnash · 09/06/2025 22:44

Primary school within walking distance and close network of school gate friends

Liking camping

2 cups of Good coffee in bed in the morning

Friendly local pub and local friends

Lots of ways to get cheap theatre tickets

Great art

Cup of decaf earl grey and an early night

strangeandfamiliar · 09/06/2025 22:46

Lambswool insoles and a pair of suede loafers, to wear only in the house. I loathe slippers, and the whole idea of shuffling round in them all day makes me feel prematurely aged, but these have revolutionised my relationship with the very cold tiled floor in our kitchen!

jjeoreo · 09/06/2025 22:50

Intermittent fasting. I've been the same weight for nearly 2 years now and I don't have to stress about food anymore.

Living somewhere walkable...friends, dinner, school, coffee, pub all round the corner.

Learning to drive 7 years ago. God I love the freedom it brings.

jjeoreo · 09/06/2025 22:52

Also my robot vacuum.

SpottedDonkey · 09/06/2025 22:57

Losing excess weight, and maintaining a healthy weight.

You feel better. You look better. People treat you better (although some will envy you & try to sabotage you). Your knees stop hurting. You no longer snore. Doing anything physical is so much easier & more enjoyable. You sweat less. Clothes shopping is (almost) enjoyable. The anxiety of constantly worrying about the effects of obesity on your health goes away. Life is just better.

pinkpony88 · 09/06/2025 22:59

Self winding hosepipe. Should have bought one years ago!

Linen duvet cover

Where did you get it? How is it different from cotton? Does it crease? Tell me more, please!

coxesorangepippin · 09/06/2025 23:17

Outside, daily no matter what

shutupgardenbirds · 09/06/2025 23:27

Glass oven trays. They don't bend or warp in the heat, neither are they really wobbly when you're trying to get the things in and out of the oven

Emperor bed

Mattress topper for said emperor bed

Probably the biggest one was my wheelchair. It's literally like a mobile armchair and has made a massive difference to my life.

BeNiceWhenItsFinished · 09/06/2025 23:30

Working part-time instead of full-time. Lucky to be able to afford it really.

Fleur405 · 09/06/2025 23:36

Working from home (assisted by my sage coffee machine)

notprincehamlet · 09/06/2025 23:47

Running, espresso, a good audio book/podcast ... although a million in the bank would really hit the spot

uncomfortablydumb60 · 09/06/2025 23:51

My wonderful Westie
My Coverless duvet
My Wetroom

uncomfortablydumb60 · 09/06/2025 23:56

How could I forget my new days deluxe rollator! My old one was a rattly bone shaker but this one has suspension and just like pushing a pram without the baby
I've named it " Roly"

PollyCreo · 09/06/2025 21:12

In no particular order:

Divorce
Cats
Exercise

Also, prioritising friends. I've had a spectacularly shit couple of years health-wise and only just now appreciating the love and support they gave me ❤️

Ah, it’s so nice to read this - generally posts on this topic tend to be about how friends have let people down.

Clean, sweet bedding. Birdsong, especially the dawn chorus. My favourite flowers. My cat. Standing on the back doorstep at dusk to watch the little bats flying.
