I am rewatching Orange is the New Black currently. Taslitz is one of my favourite characters and over a decade later I now learn that she's the lead role in Dead Silence (one of my favourite films).
I was the same when I realised Kirsten Dunst is the little girl vampire in 'Interview with the Vampire'.

Stephen Mangan - I can’t get my head around how Guy Secretan from Green Wing is also Nathan Stern from The Split

When The Split first aired I kept expecting him to end phone calls with “meet you in Zurich” 🤣

Also from Green Wing, Karl Theobald who was drippy Martin Dear was terrifying Stephen Mangan's character as the psycho Pete Thompson in Hang Ups.

One of my favourite dramas about the Kennedy's is "Women of the Camelot: Jackie, Ethel, Joan". In that film, Bobby Kennedy was played by the very dashing young Robert Knepper (always had a bit of a crush on both Bobby and the actor that portrayed him).

It took me absolutely AGES to realise that it's the same actor who played T-Bag in "Prison Break" many years later (for whom I also had a soft spot 😂).

I’m rewatching Pride and Prejudice at the moment and just realised Caroline Bingley is played by the same actress who plays Beth in Yellowstone! I didn’t realise she was English

Yes! Both bitchy characters but such different roles! Kelly Reilly is an amazing actress!

Kevin McKidd… Owen Hunt in Greys Anatomy and Tommy in Trainspotting…..Really surprised me

OMG I’ve never seen that!

Thank you, I’ve updated my “to watch” list

@Namechange6578 don't know the robot one, I must look it up!!

I had a huge crush when he was Matthew in Downton, I loved the character too. In series 2 or 3 he is in the British WW1 uniform. So handsome!

I was really impressed by Kaitlyn Dever in Apple cider vinegar. Although she is distinctive facially and can't really do the chameleon thing, she was so completely different to her character in Dopesick or Unbelievable. Her accent and facial expressions and all were so so different. She was the young woman miner in Dopesick and lead role in Unbelievable, then played Belle Gibson in Apple cider vinegar. All 3 are brilliant mini series, I'd really recommend them.

The actor who played the suave and charming Evelyn Napier (Brendan Patricks) played a very tacky magician at a wedding fair in Gavin and Stacy

SummerLightning · 08/06/2025 13:37

Inigo Montoya from princess bride and Saul from Homeland being the same actor blew my mind

SparklyBrickViper · 08/06/2025 13:52

Sonny The Godfather

Elf’s father.

🤯

Watching Wolf Hall and trying to figure out where I know the actor playing Thomas Cromwell was from. DH says "its Mark Rylance", still couldn't work out why I knew his voice - turns out he does the voice of Flop in Bing. Probably not his usual recognition 😅

Mum and I have been rewatching The Bill from the beginning. We've seen Chesney Hawkes and the late great Pete Poselthwaite. We are currently on 1992 and have recently seen Martine McCutchoen, Sarah Alexander, Joe Absolom and Brendan Doyle pop up.
Its also weird seeing actors who pop up later as police officers appear as different characters earlier. The late Roberta Taylor who played Gina Gold has just been on a episode as a woman who beat her ex boyfriend up!
Throughly enjoying the reruns!!

Ah yes he was in blackadder "American " Hugh Laurie and "Brittish" Hugh Laurie is like 2 different people 😀

American Hugh Laurie is sexy as.

British Hugh Laurie isn't.

I can never understand how one actor can be either delicious or drippy depending..

Hands down winner for this is the usually very posh, ethereal and almost translucent Tilda Swinton as a perma-tanned London fashion mag editor in “Trainwreck”. Blew my mind.

Now watching an episode of The Bill with David Harewood in it.....

GetOffTheCounter · 08/06/2025 17:07

Law and Order is good for this.

Not just because they often have cameos for well-known actors but also actor spotting before they got really famous. (Idris Elba for example; Cynthia Nixon).

I read that because it's filmed on location in NYC, there is a ready supply of top-notch Broadway actors who they can use for cameos and one-offs.

Also a long tradition of sneaking Brits in (Linux Roche, and Hugh Dancy spring to mind).

I have three that blew me away!
One was that Tim Curry - Frank-n-futur in Rocky Horror was also Miss Hannigan’s brother Rooster in Annie. ( he kidnapped Annie and sang the brilliant Easy street!

Two - Jerry Orbach, known to most women of a certain age as Baby’s Father, Dr Houseman in Dirty Dancing.

Finally, the excruciating hippy singers during the 1st wedding of Four weddings. The female hippy who sang ‘Can’t smile without you’ is Nicola Walker from Last Tango, Unforgiven, the Split, amongst many other.

oh and on the subject of 4 weddings, the late Charlotte Coleman 🙁 - most people will know that she was in Oranges are not the only fruit. But she was also Marmalade Atkins and the little girl in Wuzzel Gummidge.

ThatWriterInTheCorner · 08/06/2025 17:32

I am constantly spotting actors who look a bit like Oscar Isaac, who then somehow all turn put to be Actual Oscar Isaac. I know 'being convincing as someone that's not you' is literally what actors do for a living. But I still can't believe that Duke Leto Atreides and Nathan from Ex Machina and Poe Dameron and that bloke in Scenes From A Marriage are somehow all the same actor.

Cattenberg · 08/06/2025 17:33

CBeebies presenter Pui Fan Lee played an imprisoned, drug-addicted Thai prostitute in the second Bridget Jones film.

Cattenberg · 08/06/2025 17:36

Also, an old supply teacher at my school appeared in Made in Dagenham and I didn't realise who he was. I just thought he looked familiar. He was an actor back then too, and used to do supply teaching when he was "resting".

LittleHangleton · 08/06/2025 17:42

Miley Cyrus is the girl in Bolt.

Carly off-of iCarly is the oldest girl in Dispicable Me

I forgot to add the relevant point that Dr Houseman was the voice of Lumiere the candlestick in the Disney cartoon Beauty and the Beast!
