Heat haters unite! (Heat lovers bugger off)

It’s coming up to summer and I already hate the weather. It’s hot, muggy and just ugh.

I hate summer. It’s much easier to warm yourself up than it is to cool yourself off. You can always put more clothes on, but you can’t take more clothes off.

You struggle to sleep cos it’s so hot, and then you’re even more irritable because now not only are you hot and bothered, but you’re tired too.

No I don’t have air con cos I can’t bloody afford it. I have a plug in fan, than yeah works ok in the day but I don’t have it on overnight cos the breeze keeps me awake too.

can i join in?

we’re no good in the heat! ppl straight outside drinking, shouting, music pounding, kids screaming, ppl who live in hot countries don’t behave like that

so not only am I hot and tired but I have to listen to ppl shouting and thumping music

People are the worst

Kids keep gathering near our front door and screaming. There’s lots of green space to go play but nooooooooo they have to stand there. Sometimes I get tempted to scream fuck off to them!

I mean look at all this space and they have to screech HERE in the black circle

I cant stand it, it makes everything so much harder, and I have to keep my little girl inside during the peak of the day, its just BS. I don't remember it being as hot, as it has been in the last few years.

I don’t find it too bad now but have two Dyson cooler fans in my JL basket ready to purchase, don’t care how much I just can’t face crappy fans for another year.

Linen bedding as well as Linen, cotton and seersucker very lightweight clothing at the ready.

I absolutely abhor UK city heat. Don’t mind the heat abroad too much.

I did have a Dyson cooler tower - you should buy air conditioning units instead. Same price and they actually cool the air so much more effectively! I am planning to replace mine as soon as I can.

Zippymonkey · 21/06/2025 20:58

And yes @Soubriquet I am a winter lover too! I hate the heat and would skip summer entirely given the chance.

If you believe/follow the science it's not going to improve

Just checking in to say I'm melting and the thunder didn't even improve the humidity 🥵

I live in West Wales! Thankfully it's cooler tonight! I absolutely bloody hate the heat! Has the heat ever made anyone feel quite nauseous before? I'm pretty sure it's made me feel quite blerugh today!

Yeah nausea is a common thing with the heat. It’s why some people have no appetite.

It can also be a sign of heat exhaustion so keep an eye on yourself

It's rained twice today. Supposed to pour on Tuesday night (ds2's prom) so not best pleased.

I will 💕 thank you! X

MissMarplesNiece · 21/06/2025 22:13

I was wondering about heat exhaustion - I feel terrible. I'm trying to drink lots but I feel quite full so it's difficult.

WoodlandLove · 22/06/2025 05:53

I'm questioning if I can keep living in the southeast of England anymore. Yesterday nearly finished me!
I was born in Northern Ireland. I've lived in England donkeys years, but considering returning to NI, or maybe Scotland. With climate change the summers here are just going to get worse aren't they 😩

Optimustime · 22/06/2025 05:59

We just had rain! Beautiful rain..for about 5 mins. But it's better than nothing. Going to have to walk the dog before 6:30 today.

MarxistMags · 01/06/2025 16:55

I refuse to bugger off, I live in Scotland so we don't get enough heat !

So do I! Can’t wait for Autumn….

WoodlandLove · 22/06/2025 06:07

Ooh, shortly after my last post, we got thunder and lightning, and now it's raining! Yippee! It wasn't even forecast. Happy now 😀 I'm off to smell the petrichor...

Newstartplease24 · 22/06/2025 07:06

Yesterday was awful. I felt so ill all day. Today is forecast to be bearable where I am and so far there is some cool air in the world. But I’m still nauseous and dehydrated. When it warms up and the noisy fuckers get going it’s going to be tough. I’m so depressed with it all

MissMarplesNiece · 22/06/2025 07:15

You'got my sympathy @Newstartplease24

I felt dreadful yesterday, even getting up to go to the sink to get a glass of water made me feel dizzy & light headed. No matter how much I drank my pee was the colour of pea soup. The heat sends my blood sugars haywire (type 1 diabetic) .

WoodlandLove · 22/06/2025 07:17

I find watching those winter videos on YouTube actually make me feel cooler!

This is an example -

I recommend it!

I’ve got my eye on this one

Doesn’t require a pipe for the window which is what caught my eye. Can add water to make it better but will work ok with out it and is supposed to be quiet

I don't know if someone has already said this, that is not an AC, it is a fan you can put ice in.

I'm sat infront of one as we speak/type. It's OK but it's not quiet and I prefer the fan. Its absolutely nothing like air con and has minimal impact on room temperature. You're pumping out a bit of cold air but not removing the hot, so it might take the overall temperature down by 1° at best. If you sit right infront of it, you do get some nice cool air but it's not a magic solution.

80smusicandavoulevant · 22/06/2025 09:35

I’m a winter girl! Always have been, always will be!! No shame

MoonlightMemories · 22/06/2025 13:18

It's been much more tolerable here today, there is a lovely cool-ish breeze flowing through my flat and it's a little cooler, so it's feeling much more tolerable. I was having heart palpitations most of the day yesterday, which didn't feel very nice at times. Feeling a lot better and more comfortable today, thankfully.

If our flat had the original slidey up windows it would help but the HA replaced them with windows that only open a couple of inches due to window restrictors Health and safety doncha know. Coupled with the fact they refused to put a shower in , means im having to have a bath every time i want to cool down. Its on them.

Soubriquet · 22/06/2025 15:52

It’s noticeably cooler today but at the same time muggier. Feel like I’m in soup
