It’s coming up to summer and I already hate the weather. It’s hot, muggy and just ugh.

I hate summer. It’s much easier to warm yourself up than it is to cool yourself off. You can always put more clothes on, but you can’t take more clothes off.

You struggle to sleep cos it’s so hot, and then you’re even more irritable because now not only are you hot and bothered, but you’re tired too.

No I don’t have air con cos I can’t bloody afford it. I have a plug in fan, than yeah works ok in the day but I don’t have it on overnight cos the breeze keeps me awake too.

I'm over it now.
Enjoyed the unexpectedly warm spring but done now.
Want to put a pair of socks and long sleeve jumper on, have something hot and delicious going in the slow cooker and sit down in front of Strictly on a Saturday night now please.

Reports on both local tv news and on The World Tonight on R4 about how the drought is affecting harvests. Looks like a good apple crop but other crops are suffering so I'm assuming food prices will rise even more.

I notice weather forecasters have cut down on their "we're in for some great weather" which always annoys me because for every 1 degree over about 23 degrees C, my discomfort with the heat doubles. I tried to walk to my local chemist and back this morning before it got too hot, it's less than a mile walk in total, and was taken ill on the way back. The heat plays havoc with my diabetes control.

GET SOME BLOODY AIR CON

mrswhiplington · 13/08/2025 14:37

Just looked at the Met Office weather for Malaga, Spain on Sunday - Monday and it's in the high 40's but will feel like it's 50 degrees 🥵. That would finish me off.

Last night next door’s teenage son had a party in the garden which wouldn’t normally bother me but it was so hot in the bedroom we needed the windows open. The music wasn’t too obnoxious but their highly-strung dog kept barking and startling me awake.

I went to the gym and Tesco today, both of which had air con. In fact the duct was right over the machines I was using! Bliss. Unfortunately it’s broken in the car so the journeys were like riding on the surface of the sun.

Had a shower and immediately started sweating again. This weather is so gross. I’m worried about the reservoirs too.

I’m stranded at the moment as my aircon doesn’t work in my car and it’ll cost a grand to fix 😭.

My neighbours had a party in their garden a few days ago so I had to go to sleep with the windows closed (which I hate) but I had the fan on instead which provided a breeze and some helpful white noise. When I woke up in the small hours for a wee, I opened the windows again and the cool night air was blissful.

September has arrived! 🎉
I woke up in the middle of the night, as I've been dealing with a virus (cold, Covid or similar) and checked my phone and suddenly realised it's 1st September. It lifted my mood immediately 😊
Autumn here we come! 🍁🍂🍄🦔

Foolsgold74 · 01/09/2025 10:15

Hurrah!! Getting into my kind of weather now. Still a touch warm for me at around 19° most days but manageable and the intensity of the sun has gone now 🙌 Another day closer to getting the hot water bottle back out!

Abracadabra12345 · 01/09/2025 15:10

@Foolsgold74My autistic son insists on a hot water bottle regardless of the weather 😆. There is something very comforting about them.

I could finally turn the pages of my wall calendars- August seemed to last for ever but here we are at last into the first day of meteorological autumn with weather to match ( for now). It makes me feel calm and happy and energised

Arran2024 · 01/09/2025 19:40

It was a bit windy here yesterday (sw London) but I was astonished to find a fellow dog walkers out wearing a big wooly scarf!

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 21/09/2025 00:18

Cold to morrow in England sorry about the cold.

LittleMissLateForWorkAgain · 21/09/2025 00:26

Glad it's getting colder again. I have a bit of a cough and temperature now so have a fan on.
Didn't feel I could call in sick on week 3 of the new term
