It’s coming up to summer and I already hate the weather. It’s hot, muggy and just ugh.

I hate summer. It’s much easier to warm yourself up than it is to cool yourself off. You can always put more clothes on, but you can’t take more clothes off.

You struggle to sleep cos it’s so hot, and then you’re even more irritable because now not only are you hot and bothered, but you’re tired too.

No I don’t have air con cos I can’t bloody afford it. I have a plug in fan, than yeah works ok in the day but I don’t have it on overnight cos the breeze keeps me awake too.

I wish I could afford proper air con. It would definitely be used in this house. Instead I’m stuck with fans and a unit that uses water inside to cool down. It’s supposed to cool down the room but I don’t think so

It’s still very muggy here. In town it’s even worse with shops being unbearable despite it being a slightly cooler 23C.

Thing is buildings retain heat in the Uk and it takes ages for them to cool back down.
I called into Superdrug the other day and it was unbearable. Again I walked back out!

Is it the Shark fan? I have that and it’s nice to sit in front of but I don’t think it cools the room down.

Our Superdrug has lovely air con and today it was up full pelt Boots though had a stand alone air con that was just occasionally puffing out bits of air to make it look like they are doing something

Bet online shopping is booming even more because of it

AutumnLover1989 · 23/07/2025 09:40

Feels very autumnal in Staffordshire which I love. Downside is I've got piles of washing to get dry after being away 🙄

Meterologists going on about how its going to get warmer. I never felt it get cooler Its very disingenuous to gloss over the humidity the way that they do.

JenniferBooth · 25/07/2025 22:50

Still hot in the Sanctuary sauna. Just unloaded washing machine and sweating my guts out again. Shithole

JenniferBooth · 08/08/2025 23:08

Should have turned up when they were supposed to i WONT be going for the hat trick!!!!!!!!!

Arran2024 · 10/08/2025 16:51

We have come to Wales for our summer holidays - i always tell people who feel sorry for me not going abroad that it suits us fine as we don't like the heat - but it's to be 29 on Tuesday. Outrageous!

WoodlandLove · 10/08/2025 18:15

Another heatwave! I thought we were done, and I was gearing up for autumn.
I'm travelling to Wales tomorrow @Arran2024 funnily enough, and I'd heard 30°C where I'll be on Tuesday 🥵 I live in the southeast of England, so hoped Wales would be cooler!
Hey ho, this must surely be the last of the summer heatwaves; and autumn is just around the corner - can't wait!

wash the Sanctuary sweat right outta my hair

Zippymonkey · 11/08/2025 11:33

I’m hoping this is the last heatwave for this year. 31 here today and forecast 34 tomorrow then just 28/29 for the rest of week 🥵
Almost September 😊

It’s so oppressive this evening - the ants in my garden have just taken flight weirdly! Never seen them do that on an evening.

Arran2024 · 11/08/2025 20:49

We actually had some rain here in Wales this afternoon (I'm near Carmarthen). Back home it's 30 tomorrow so thank goodness we're away!

DarkLene · 12/08/2025 00:08

I am so over this weather. I was over it by may, but still it goes on. It’s been relentless this year. Yet no doubt the climate-change deniers will still insist the weather in the uk is wet and cold and we never get sun in summer.

The last two summers (and springs) were miserable in my part of the south east. Constant grey skies, wet and not great temperatures. And the East/West divide spring of 2023 was miserable. Biting cold wind for us for a lot of the spring that year.

It’s been lovely having plenty of blue sky and some sunshine for once.

MoonlightMemories · 12/08/2025 04:55

I don't know if anyone else has experienced this....I don't think I have before. I was just watching TV yesterday afternoon and suddenly out of nowhere I started having this massive panic attack - I felt like I couldn't breathe, like I was going to be sick....and I was in the middle of having my dinner and every time I ate it seemed to make it worse somehow. It was not an unusual meal, something I've had plenty of times before.

Ended up having to take something to help try and calm me down a bit hit I felt really on edge and quite exhausted by the end of the day. Ot was around 4pm which is when I think it does kind of reach the hottest point of the day. In our previous heatwaves I didn't have anything like that happen to me....it was very unnerving.

"Only" 30 here in Kidwelly! We are in an old stone cottage and it is blissfully cool. We stayed here a few years ago in a heatwave and keep coming back as it's so cool. Huge shady garden (lots of trees) too. Dogs love it.

JenniferBooth · 12/08/2025 14:25

@BurntBroccoli Yesterday the salon i go to for my waxes phoned me to move my appointment from tomorrow to next Tuesday I was relieved as its too hot in there Their rooms upstairs exceed 35c when its like this. They are closing at 2pm today and tomorrow due to the extreme heat,
