It’s coming up to summer and I already hate the weather. It’s hot, muggy and just ugh.

I hate summer. It’s much easier to warm yourself up than it is to cool yourself off. You can always put more clothes on, but you can’t take more clothes off.

You struggle to sleep cos it’s so hot, and then you’re even more irritable because now not only are you hot and bothered, but you’re tired too.

No I don’t have air con cos I can’t bloody afford it. I have a plug in fan, than yeah works ok in the day but I don’t have it on overnight cos the breeze keeps me awake too.

The regular postman at work wears shorts all year round until heatwaves, when he covers up entirely to avoid getting burned/heatstroke.

Sensible really.

It's a bit less hot here but seems more humid. Sorry to sound revolting, but my hands were so sweaty I couldn't hold my knife & fork to eat my salad.

Soubriquet · 01/07/2025 21:54

It was gorgeous today!!!

I had a COLD breeze blow right into my room. I actually got cold! It was heaven.

I'm so looking forward to normal temps again tomorrow I can't wait and I have a busy day

Enjoy op

MoonlightMemories · 01/07/2025 22:18

It's cooling down now at last...I've cracked open virtually all the windows in my flat as much as possible in anticipation of the dropping temperatures tonight/tomorrow.

Thunderstorms are forecast for tomorrow as well, wether that actually occurs or not is anyone's guess though - it was a bit anticlimactic last time 🤣

LillyPJ · 01/07/2025 23:04

I actually felt a bit chilly this evening - hooray! I've had the bedroom windows open and now the bedroom is lovely and cool. Hoping for a good night's sleep.

Really? Where were you out of curiosity? It was absolutely roasting here yesterday. Looks like a bit cooler today thankfully 😊

I'm in the East Midlands. It was stiflingly hot all day until around early evening. I'd got the patio doors open and suddenly noticed it was cooler and felt more 'normal'. It was such a relief! It was still warm but just not as oppressive and clammy.

FruityCider · 02/07/2025 06:37

Woken up in London to raaaain and feel like going out and doing a jig in it.

Ah OK. I'm in East Sussex. I think yesterday was the hottest day so far here. But cooler today, and rain, hooray!

So here we all are again. How’s everyone doing?

Soubriquet · 10/07/2025 11:46

Not good. Went to my sons school play yesterday and ended up having to leave the hall.

I nearly threw up and passed out

Luckily I didn’t miss much. He was the lighting technician

Not good , are you ok, stay home with a fan on or sit in a cold bath or water , just put your feet in a bowl of water that works

I'm planning on staying indoors for the next 3 days infront of a fan. 5am dog walks and then hibernating. Hideous weather forecast but then thankfully, it cools down a bit on Monday.

Hope you are ok now.

Hate hate hate this weather. Honestly? What's nice about sweating and not being able to sleep or being too hot to do anything? Urgh 🤢🙄

RafaistheKingofClay · 10/07/2025 18:56

Hope you are ok @Soubriquet. Hot and very still air here. Not nice. Tomorrow hotter. Hopefully might cool down after that.

Can’t leave the house as it’s absolutely baking out there even in the shade!

Thank god my new fan came yesterday! It’s one of the misting ones and I’ve just filled it with fridge chilled water. Bliss!
Being menopausal is no fun!

It’s the worst isn’t it?
We had a work conference a while back and there was no aircon in the rooms. Must have been 28C and we had tasks to do. It was truly horrible and one of my worst experiences as I just couldn’t stop overheating and was drenched.

bookworm14 · 11/07/2025 12:45

I am struggling in this latest heatwave, and can’t even take comfort in the fact that it’ll be short lived - in London it’s forecast to go on for weeks like this. I hate everything about it - I can’t think properly, feel constantly sluggish and exhausted, hate the fact that all the grass is brown and dead and there are dry dead leaves everywhere. It just feels wrong and unsettling. My fear is that this will become the norm and in 20-30 years’ time I’ll spend half the year in hiding from extreme heat.

Sorry for the negative post but it’s really getting me down.
