I'm 33 and I have asthma inhalers (blue and brown)
I do take a good few supplements - maca, chlorella, spirulina in the morning and ashawgandha at night time, and some collagen every couple of days.

Age 50
Sertraline for anxiety

Vitamin D because I've been deficient and I just take it as a matter of course now

Evening Primrose Oil as I had sore boobs and felt it worked. Now the GP says keep taking it as it is helping with perimeno symptoms. I think they are good for me even if it's a placebo effect!

Sometimes I wonder if I should take some supplements 😆

I’m avoiding taking anything unless I have to and can’t think of any supplements I need.

zenas · 25/05/2025 18:06

Drugs are saving lives. I'm always amazed at the amount and variety of drugs that are out there for all the different ailments.

At 68 I'm blessed (so far) to have only three, beta blocker, aspirin, and PPI. Each of which is keeping me from croaking, either from stroke or gastric bleed. When my (younger) sister and I go for our annual week away (sister bonding lol), her underseat bag is full to the brim with all sorts of prescribed meds. But necessary just the same.

So many younger people on here that have to take so many. I'm sorry you are in need of them, due no doubt to serious medical conditions.

Supplements are pointless unless your actually deficient in something might as well take a placebo

BatshitCrazyWoman · 25/05/2025 18:07

I'm 61

Prescribed : tamoxifen (had breast cancer), calcichew (calcium and vitamin D3)

Supplements : vitamin B complex and sage tablets, both recommended by my oncologist

Hollyhobbi · 25/05/2025 18:08

I’m in my fifties. I take a blood pressure tablet, a tablet for under active thyroid, iron supplement, blood thinners, paracetamol as required, vitamin D supplement, magnesium supplements, and Omperazol. Occasionally take a phosphate tablet. All because I have an overactive parathyroid(s) and an underactive thyroid which so far have caused me severe osteoporosis, two DVTs, high blood pressure, severe bone pain, brain fog, chronic insomnia and fatigue, decreased kidney function, palpitations and tachycardia. Yes they are the diseases that keep on giving. Hoping to have an operation to remove more parathyroid gland(s) but will need to travel to another country for same as no one here has the expertise to cure me.

Am fit and healthy and have annual check ups so agree no need for me to take any supplements.

Hollyhobbi · 25/05/2025 18:12

The people on vitamin D supplements and/or who have osteoporosis have you ever been checked for primary hyperparathyroidism? Need to have calcium, parathyroid hormone and vitamin D all checked from the one blood draw.

dizzydizzydizzy · 25/05/2025 18:15

1 x ADHD medication
1 x medication related to 'underpin' above
1 x low dose antidepressant but used for headaches and insomnia
HRT

In my 50s

mit123 · 25/05/2025 18:19

I am 64 and luckily I take nothing at all

FalseSpring · 25/05/2025 18:19

Mid sixties - six prescribed medications, three supplements for known conditions and over-the-counter codeine most days. I live in hope that supplements mean I wont need more of the prescribed medication.

RaininSummer · 25/05/2025 18:27

62 and take turmeric, iron, vit b complex, glucosamine and chondiatrin, and vit D. Nothing prescribed.

arethereanyleftatall · 25/05/2025 18:28

49

nothing

arethereanyleftatall · 25/05/2025 18:30

These responses have really surprised me. 90% of responses take something. Is that representative?

Olive567 · 25/05/2025 18:32

Early 50s.

Crinkle77 · 25/05/2025 18:32

I'm 47. Take omeprazole formy stomach. I take vitamin D as I had a very bad deficiency a few years ago so had to take a loading dose and supplements keep me topped up. Recently found out I have an iron deficiency so got a prescription for that too so will probably continue with supplements when I finish the prescription.

cherrycherrypickin · 25/05/2025 18:33

I'm 42 and take prescribed hrt daily plus high strength turmeric and collagen

Slavetomycat · 25/05/2025 18:36

i am 67 and no prescription medicines. I have bloods checked annually and all good, so only indulge myself with vegan biotin for my brittle nails.
