just that really?

These are my weakness. I'd say i have either or every other day but I want to cut them out completely.

Crisps every day. Chocolate not so much.

But I'm mainly here for the virtuous eating puritans 😉🍿

I've never had a sacks worth OP! 😂

We have crisps and chocolate in the cupboard most of the time. I might have a few crisps, twice a week. They are sharing packs, so I seal them up- never a whole pack. I'm overweight, but just don't get the urge for them often.

Haha. Yes, sorry about the typo!

It's fascinating. It's so polarised. Either people are non stop grazing on a buffet of crisps and cakes or they have half a square of dark chocolate every leap year.

Daily but not in huge amounts. But I also eat fruit, veg and salad daily. Exercise regularly and don’t load up on too many carbs.

I don’t believe in cutting out whole food groups- it can make life miserable. Just moderation if you can.

i have a family member on Ozempic for diabetes and this is the biggest difference it’s made to him - he happily eats healthier food now and limits treats. It’s changed his life so much.

Hallywally · 22/05/2025 09:00

Every day for chocolate in small amounts- up to 150 cals. Every other for crisps- again small low calorie packets like Wotsits for French Fries- around 70/80 cals. Sometimes I do go overboard but I need a little treat every day.

Crisps maybe once a week? Chocolate 4-5 times a week though am trying to cut down.

GoldLash · 22/05/2025 09:03

Chocolate really not that often. I still have uneaten Easter eggs. Once a month. I crave it so it must be linked to my period.

Crisps a small 25g packet once a week. I buy crisps for the DC and Nick a pack now and then. I love crisps but I do restrain myself because I don’t buy them for myself

The first comment in the thread was perfection. Almost a parody. Peak mumsnet competitive eating (or undereating!) 😂

There are no good or bad foods. Foods and morals do not go together. Everything in moderation.

Walkitoff · 22/05/2025 10:27

To be fair you can eat a reasonable amount or even overeat without eating chocolate or crisps. I have a sweet tooth but I know some people who overeat mainly on huge (savoury) meals.

While there is a lot of that on MN I don’t think rarely consuming crisps & chocolate is an example of competitive undereating. It doesn’t even necessarily mean you eat that healthily

DilemmaDelilah · 22/05/2025 10:52

Crisps or other salty snack, most days.
Chocolate, rarely.

mindutopia · 22/05/2025 10:58

Maybe once a week. I’m sure I must eat more processed foods than that. But crisps, chocolates, sweets I actually don’t really like, so it would be a few times a month. I have had a few pieces of cake this week, but I made it from scratch so maybe not quite the same.

the80sweregreat · 22/05/2025 11:01

I had a chocolate croissant today and it tasted so different because I’ve been on a diet where carbs and anything nice is all forbidden fruit.
Just so bad today , but it’s so hard cutting out sugar completely and things like crisps.

MiddleAgedDread · 22/05/2025 11:28

I probably have 1 item of that sort of thing daily Mon-Fri - if i have crisps then it's the small multi-pack bags that are under 100 calories, and I usually have something sweet with my mid-afternoon cup of tea such as the mini bags of biscuits, again they're all under 100 calories and I have an apple too to balance it out ;)

I was going to say the exact same thing! it’s so weird isn’t it

It would never occur to me to eat them anymore and I avoid them

Totally. It's given me the breathing space I needed to work on my eating habits as I really need to change them permanently.

Docwillseeyounow · 22/05/2025 13:32

Crisps everyday. Chocolate once every couple of months. I don't have a sweet tooth.

iwentjasonwaterfalls · 22/05/2025 13:33

I was having both, sometimes multiple times a day. Total emotional eater, bored eater, snack lover, all of the above. Not even the "healthy" dark chocolate, I love milk chocolate so much.

I stopped eating chocolate about a month ago. Just wanted to see if I could do it as it was my absolute weakness. So far so good - PMT and my period have been the biggest challenges so far on that front but I've held strong 🤣

Crisps I've become a take or leave kind of person, I have to be in the right mood. I've had a couple of packets in the last month.

Who knows how long it'll last? 🤣
