Worst aspects of hot weather

For me it’s
-Wasps, flies in the house, and bastardy bitey bugs.
Spent yesterday evening in the garden watering the veggies and I got bitten in 6 different places.

That the aircon in my car isn’t getting fixed until next week!
Although not really a problem as its not actually hot here just nice and warm and I do have windows on my car 😂

toycat · 13/05/2025 17:41

Nosebleeds

SendBooksAndTea · 13/05/2025 17:43

Men walking the street topless. It really never gets so hot here that a t-shirt is going to kill you.

Foolsgold74 · 13/05/2025 17:43

The fact that summer lasts as long as it does and we're only just getting started. No cool fresh breeze around my face for several months now. I honestly can't bear it and if I was rich, I'd be jetting off to spend the next few months in Norway.

amooseymoomum · 13/05/2025 17:45

The insects I quite agree they are a pain
being a plus lady the sore places when the weather is hot boobs and thighs
the smell of bbqs and people yelling until late plus their music

TimeForTeaAndToast · 13/05/2025 17:46

People whining when it gets over 22 degrees.

JustGoClickLikeALightSwitch · 13/05/2025 17:47

Another one for the bastard flies.

Also, English houses aren’t designed for this weather. We need bris soleil (sp) and very different approaches to insulation.

mumofoneAlonebutokay · 13/05/2025 17:48

Being hot
Being sweaty
Having to walk around whilst Being hot
Not having air con
Also - Being hot 😔

InMySpareTime · 13/05/2025 17:48

I can’t properly enjoy sitting outside because the weather is warm enough for all the annoying neighbour kids to get the paddling pools out.
I know I am unreasonable, and they have every right to play out in the sunshine, but the splashing and shrieking is annoying now I’m well past that stage.

WhatNoRaisins · 13/05/2025 17:50

I hate how sweaty I get and I hate how sunscreen feels when I put it on. I'll also admit that I don't really know how to dress well for warmer weather.

FionnulaTheCooler · 13/05/2025 17:51

Having to faff about with suncream every time you want to go outside.

DogsOnFilm · 13/05/2025 17:51

Our dogs not enjoying life as much. They don’t seem to like the heat and obviously it affects their normal walkies schedule!

Being in peri menopause means I’m not loving feeling even hotter than normal. We bought air con a few years ago and it’s the best thing ever! 😂

dontpunchtheplasticgorilla · 13/05/2025 17:52

Polymorphic light eruption. Yeah, it's possible to be allergic to sunlight. It's horrifically itchy- in a 'the front doormat is looking particularly inviting' kind of way. The only real way to stop it is to cover up. However heat makes any pre existing reaction (cos who wears long sleeves in summer ffs) worse and you'll want to take the kitchen scourer to yourself.

WillTheSHTFsoon · 13/05/2025 17:53

Also wasps/bees, I'm allergic to their stings so I spend April-September a paranoid mess and hold onto my EpiPen like my life depends on it (it does)

Crack/boob sweat

Having to shut my curtains for 90% of the day otherwise the sun turns the living room and dining room into a sauna and has previously ruined a TV screen.

Neighbours playing music until gone 22:00 and smoking cannabis outside

Working in a 60°c+ building, I'm dreading work tomorrow.

ShowOfHands · 13/05/2025 17:54

Our neighbours. They've got a pop up pool, invite friends over all day Saturday and Sunday and they're either in the pool with the kids yelling all day, in the hot tub feeling each other up, in the bar they've put in the garden doing karaoke and pole dancing or having drunken barbecues with optional screaming punch up.

For perimenopausal or just general overheating, these https://issviva.co.uk/products/issviva-cooling-bra-inserts?variant=40347504476247

It’s all clothing related.

first in that I detest my flab and don’t seem to be able to dress myself in anything that doesn’t make me feel either even more flabby or like a German hiker.

Then I’ll settle on a pair of shorts but no matter how well they fit, the bastards ride up my inner thigh so I keep having to do this weird little leg kick as I’m walking every 10 seconds so they drop down.

And if I go with a skirt or dress (that doesn’t make me feel like a tent), I have to wear chub run shorts which just make me sweaty.

Oh, and the heat flares up my dermatitis so my hands feel like they’re on fire.

I actually love the summer, I just have a body that does not.

I absolutely loathe this too.

CatsWhiskerz · 13/05/2025 17:59

That I don't have a pool ... I want a pool that has a Retractable roof for English summer days and lovely, covered and warm in the other 360 days of the year

Catnapsallday · 13/05/2025 23:45

Humidity.
Blasted intense relentless oppressive humidity.
Without the humidity the hot sun would be wonderful because you can get away from it when you go indoors which you cannot do when it is humid.
Thankfully we have AC but the thing I don't like about the summer is that it's almost as bad as the winter as we keep the blinds down, the curtains drawn, the windows shut all in an attempt to keep the heat out and instead of outdoor noises and bird calls, all we can hear is the AC droning on.

loropianalover · 13/05/2025 23:47

My clothes line isn’t big enough for all the things I’ve washed.

And I wish we had better air con in shops.

Norway can get very hot too. Been over there in June and July and been in T-shirt and shorts all the time. Plus in July the midges come out in large squadrons….

MadameCholetsDirtySecret · 14/05/2025 09:47

Knowing it isn’t going to last.

Oh my gosh, I feel so seen, thank you 🙏
Literally yesterday I was saying "the only reason I hate summer is because my body feels so uncomfortable always".

(And I LOLd at the German hiker reference: it's so specific but I get it so much 😂)
(ETA: I have very much sympathy for German hikers, btw 😂)

WhatNoRaisins · 14/05/2025 09:56

I'm just more comfortable in thick denims and cotton's and boots. I find a lot of summer clothes either seem flimsy, leave you exposed or look like they'll need a lot of ironing and none of that appeals to me.
