I remember ordering two girls aloud DVDs. One was their Chemistry tour and the second was a documentary series about them preparing for the tour. At the time it seemed to exciting we would be able to watch the tour over and over as often as we wanted. I also remember Amazon parcels were just sent through Royal Mail and having to get the bus into town to pick up the parcel from the sorting office.

April 1999. A few books to take on holiday.

A few years ago I had a look back at my Amazon order history. Yikes.

It was back when Amazon only sold books. It would have been a novel. I don’t recall which one.

TennesseeStella · 05/05/2025 22:03

It was a book for my Grandad. And he's been dead for 14 years so it was a fair old while ago!

strawlight · 05/05/2025 22:05

Just checked - Moulin Rouge DVD in October 2002

I was just thinking today about how Amazon used to just be an online book store. I do t really recall my first order but it would have been a book!

Same here. And I remember the days in the very late 90s when the talk was all about how Amazon still had yet to make a profit and how the idea would never work! How times change 😆

Just looked it up and it says my first order was a book about modernism in 2002, when I was a postgrad student. But I have distinct memories of using it before then, so maybe they only have records online from 2002?

Never Mind the Bollocks by the Sex Pistols cd in November 2005. A Christmas present for my now DH who was a newish boyfriend then.

Bbq1 · 05/05/2025 23:29

First thing I ordered was The Yours Annual 2010 for my mum. I purchased it in 2009. I can't believe that I've been ordering from Amazon for 16 years!

BogRollBOGOF · 06/05/2025 00:05

University textbooks to prepare for my new course. Not avaliable in my home town.

I had to go to the internet cafe to order them.

I'll still have them too Grin

My most recent order is a DVD of Hook. DS saw a review/ critique of it and liked the look it, so I ordered the DVD so it's easy to re-watch.

Magpie50 · 06/05/2025 01:26

A graphic novel (avengers disassembled ) back in 2005.

Last order was a dog harness a week ago!

NotanotherboxofFrogs · 06/05/2025 03:30

My old Amazon account would have been a book probably academic.

I had a head injury in 2011 and had to open new accounts on everywhere after that as I locked myself out of everything and lost all previous accounts.

So the earliest thing on my current Amazon account is a DVD of Catch me if you can in November 2012 which was part of a Christmas present at Christmas 2012

Vates · 06/05/2025 04:32

On my current account on amazon it was an order of the kids tv show Eerie Indiana from August 2009. But I remember my first purchase on amazon with my own money & first account was when I was 16 (2001) and was a Dracula parody Dead and Loving It, it was a vhs tape!

ArtemisiaTheArtist · 06/05/2025 06:16

Probably a book too, then probably a CD or DVD. Can’t remember what though. I no longer shop at Amazon.

Whatwaswrongwiththatusername · 06/05/2025 17:25

I thought mine would be books as was at uni in 2000, when I first used it, but have just looked and it was toys. I think possibly Thunderbird toys, but hard to work out from the “leftover” description, but it would definitely match, as remember that Xmas being all about Thunderbirds for the age my child was! Then 2001 looks like more CDs. Amazing been using it for that long!

dizzydizzydizzy · 06/05/2025 17:31

I had to look in my orders. It was a book called Barrow's Boys in 1997. I don't remember anything about it so it was probably a present. Back then Amazon sold only books.

AnAlpacaForChristmasPleaseSanta · 06/05/2025 17:35

November 2003, Elton John cd.

Cushionseams · 06/05/2025 17:37

My history says it was harry potter lego in 2004 - marauders map.
Currently selling for £159. I'm fairly sure i didn't pay that.

CamillaMacauley · 06/05/2025 17:38

It would have been a book for sure, they only sold books in 96/97 when I first got the "worldwideweb" on my AOL disc from Currys!

GarlicPile · 06/05/2025 17:39

2002, book, "The Secret Life Of The Unborn Child". I have no idea why I wanted this and no recollection of reading it Confused

CamillaMacauley · 06/05/2025 17:41

Just checked - On my account my first order was 2003 - Potty Training in One week.

Must have used my mum's account before then...

GameOfJones · 06/05/2025 17:42

I just looked at my orders. It was all books, mostly for University until 2009 when my first non-book order was a pair of these monstrosities. 🤣
