Can you remember the first thing you ordered off Amazon was?

I remember ordering two girls aloud DVDs. One was their Chemistry tour and the second was a documentary series about them preparing for the tour. At the time it seemed to exciting we would be able to watch the tour over and over as often as we wanted. I also remember Amazon parcels were just sent through Royal Mail and having to get the bus into town to pick up the parcel from the sorting office.

I think I must have used a different account at the beginning as I can't find any orders from that time, but it would have been either some chick lit (£1 for second hand books) or a water bottle and fairy lights. Yes, I still remember what it was, ordering online was just so exciting. If I was late to the party that would be because I only moved to the UK in 2008.

A book for work in 2000, then nothing in 2001, then the baby books started in 2002 and it all went downhill from there.

Three crime novels from their Seattle site before they launched in the U.K. Then more and more. So, so many books that weren't published here. And then board books for the baby when I found out I was pregnant.

A Kindle when they first came out. Oh the excitement!

Interesting thread, and have spent a good half an hour seeing how much shite I've bought over the years 😬 but my first purchase was in October 2010 and it was my pony friends ds game and a similar game for the wii on the same day, my guess it was for my neices Christmas present.

Couldn't remember, so I checked.
It was a Matilda the Musical piano and vocal book in 2012.

RebeccaDecember · 05/05/2025 19:45

Derren Brown’s “Absolute Magic” book, which I think is now out of print…

Meadowfinch · 05/05/2025 19:46

I don't like Amazon. I like proper book shops so I didn't like them in a start, and then their employment practices came to light and I like them even less.

The only thing I've ever ordered is Vanish bar soap, when the shops stopped keeping it. 😁

DustyMaiden · 05/05/2025 19:49

FetidMoppet · 05/05/2025 20:02

I ordered 4 x Violent Femmes CDs in June 2005 which I'd originally had on tape. I think I'd just got a car with a CD player so wanted to swap over.

EndlesslyDecluttering · 05/05/2025 20:05

Couldn't remember but it's easy to check on the app. Mine was a Delia Smith cookbook in 2002, but I had been using DH's account for a few years before that.

ButtercupLane · 05/05/2025 20:07

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban in Dec 2000.
It was all books until Jan 2003 when I bought The Wicker Man - Directors cut on DVD!
