Hoping some hidden gems might be found!

Tonight I saw A Woman of No Importance. It's a monologue performed by Patricia Routledge. I think it's from the 80s? Anyway, what I thought was a bit of satire really shone a light on loneliness and what a life ends up as, or can end up as. Also, PR didn't half know how to deliver a monologue! I'd pretty much only known her as Hyacinth Bucket.

Talking of Will Sharpe, I enjoyed Giri/Haji

I loved this!

Getting On…set in a geriatric medical ward…anyone who’s ever worked on one of these wards will know it was more real life than drama…the new ‘stool chart’ was so true to life!!!!

The Great Outdoors - there were only a few episodes. It was set around a rambling club and starred Ruth Jones. I really enjoyed it.

This series is brilliant! The meeting with the apology to Hilary which he won’t accept 😂

Also, Dark, Mr Inbetween and 1899

Yes, Dark! On NF. The best drama series I have ever watched.

CarpetKnees · 03/05/2025 20:05

Thanks again @PoodlesRUs for the thread and everyone who has contributed. I was wondering what I could watch next and now I have a list Smile

I loved Frankie and We Hunt Together (both starring Eve Myles). Also, Trying on Apple TV.

GripGetter · 04/05/2025 09:11

Dirk Gently too. It's brilliant.

Apparently, there is going to be another series of Mammoth, about the P.E. teacher frozen in time. They start filming in June.

Thanks for starting this thread. I can't wait to get stuck into a lot of these shows.

I liked Sunshine, a three part BBC comedy about the relationship between a boy and his grandad. It was written by Craig Cash and Phil Mealey.

Also Half-Broken Things - A tv film about a house-sitter and a young couple. I don't want to give anything away. It's quite dark but good. It features Penelope Wilton.

I've just discovered on another thread that Half-Broken Things is available on STV. I love both the tv series and the book.

For All Mankind
Silo
Snowpiercer ( although this seems to have been cancelled)

MrsLargeEmbodied · 04/05/2025 18:09

I loved Such Brave Girls

PoodlesRUs · 04/05/2025 18:19

Oh I forgot about Bad Teacher, the sitcom with Ari Graynor! Not the same quality as A Woman of No Importance but a fun and light-hearted show cancelled too early imo

I can't believe I forgot to mention A Series of Extraordinary Events (NF). So funny, clever and comforting.

Monkey Dust! Extremely dark animated comedy series. It’s brilliant but you do have to have a particularly dark sense of humour.

Monkey Dust was so good!
