Hi everyone,

I don’t know how to start this thread, so we’ll just go with being plain honest! I’m in my 30s and I don’t have any friends in real life! Of course I have acquaintances/people I can chat to if at certain events - but no real life friends 🙈

It’s really hard to feel accepted for who you are sometimes, and so many of us have to alter our personalities to try and fit into the work environment (or even to fit in with our families). So, I wanted to start a thread for all those who don’t have friends in real life. A place where people can come and leave updates on how their day has gone, how they are feeling, what their interests and hobbies are, and just have a good chat!

So, a little about me:
Im married and have a teenager.
I have a gorgeous cocker spaniel.
Ive almost (one year left) completed my degree in psychology and counselling.
I have just written my first children’s book and am currently in the process of self publishing it.
Im starting a new job in a school this Friday.

Please feel free to join and let’s keep this thread a safe place where we can (hopefully) begin to make some friends and not feel so alone. ❤️

@deepermining it's funny you mention Autumn as for the first time since March I felt a nip in the air yesterday! I don't mind Autumn and Winter, I like closing the curtains and switching on a cosy lamp. I've had a busy and stressful week at work and I'm glad it's over. I'm looking forward to a few days off. How about yourself?

Sorry for not replying. My ancient computer effectively died and only just got a new laptop set up. My phone is ancient too and doesn't seem able to cope with Mumsnet site. so can't use phone for that either.

I'm okay. I have injuries and can't run anymore but have started other forms of exercise so feeling pretty good that I didn't just let myself decay. Redundancies on the cards at work, so that's not great. Just go to wait and see about that. How about you?

@deepermining well done for starting other forms of exercise, I hope there's something you can enjoy. Oh dear I'm sorry there are redundancies rumbling, my DH has just been through that threat for a while but managed to stay in post. Wishing all is well for you.
How is everyone else doing? Do people have any ways they combat feeling lonely? I think it's worth sharing what we all do. I think modern life is lonely, when I go out and about almost everyone has their noses glued to a smartphone, I feel I could walk past some people naked and they wouldn't notice me!
