How many Easter eggs do you buy DC?

OtherCoraline · 11/04/2025 16:50

Just bought my Easter eggs for DC. They each have:

1x medium size smartie egg
1x medium size creme egg
2x small size eggs (one mini egg, one milky bar)
1x smartie bunny

And a packet of mini creme eggs to hunt around for.

I know that if you add the sugar value up, it’s a lot, obviously will be spread out etc but I can’t help but feel that it’s not lots? I definitely got more as a child and they won’t get any from anyone else. It’s just we have a holiday next week so I’m just trying to save money for that.

One egg each. None from family or friends either.

Dithercats · 11/04/2025 16:53

1 medium egg each.
And mini ones for a hunt in the garden.
They'll be happy with that.

Hadalifeonce · 11/04/2025 16:54

Either 1 each or 6 (ISH) small eggs for a hunt.

  1. Then they'll likely get another from their aunt when she visits, and sometimes our neighbour gives them a little chocolate bunny or something. DC don't show signs of feeling hard done by!
Xmasbaby11 · 11/04/2025 16:55

That's about the same as my kids (11 and 13) - 3 eggs each (not all from us) and an Easter egg hunt which will probably be about 10 small wrapped eggs each.

We have been eating other Easter treats though and going to do some baking with choc / mini eggs this weekend!

Kittybelle123 · 11/04/2025 16:55

Just the one. They get some little ones / chocolate bunny doing an egg hunt with their cousins.

DifficultMiddleChild · 11/04/2025 16:56

One per child.
My parents never bought us eggs when we were young because we always got several from other people.

Binfire · 11/04/2025 16:56

One each and a few extra little ones, like cream eggs and maltesers bunnies etc. They usually get a few from family members so they have plenty overall.

ThisCatCanHop · 11/04/2025 16:56

Watching with interest as we were debating this last night! We normally get ours one decent-sized one (the kind that sell around £4-5) and a chocolate bunny or other animal. Then we do an egg hunt, which may be with relatives or at home, and the spoils are divided based on taste and what there is.

Mine were in the supermarket with me yesterday and were eyeing up the shelves - they are keen to get a small one as well this year; DH thinks two eggs plus a bunny is too much but I think it’s fine as they won’t get any from anyone else….

LittleLabrador · 11/04/2025 16:56

Mine have already got about 4 each because DH goes a bit mad. One big, 2 medium and one small. They’ll have small things like crème eggs, mini eggs, malteaser bunny in their egg hunt. They’re both too old for Easter bunny but love an Easter egg treasure hunt! They will each get one egg off both grandparents too. We will all just be scoffing chocolate for weeks in our house!

Sofiewoo · 11/04/2025 16:57

One mini £1 button egg 😂 but they are young and don’t need multiple eggs.
They get one in a basket and then do a hunt with the tiny lint bunnies & eggs.

When I was young we got like 20 each and we rationed them for weeks but I just think kids generally get treats more often now and more than 1 or 2 eggs is pretty unnecessary.

Anotherdayanothernameagain · 11/04/2025 16:57

An egg hunt pack ‘from’ the easter bunny to share and a chocolate bunny each from us.

TokyoSushi · 11/04/2025 16:58

They were 4 for £11.98 in Asda, so I got them 4 each 😬😬😬😬

FourEyesGood · 11/04/2025 16:58

One medium-sized egg each, plus a couple of crème eggs and a small bag of mini eggs each. About £8 each in total.

MrBirling · 11/04/2025 16:58

Probably 1 each. They've also all been sent £10 by granny. We're not big on Easter eggs really, well I am but they prefer sweets. I loved it when they were small and got lots of eggs and couldn't count!

Mumtobabyhavoc · 11/04/2025 16:59

I think you should go crazy and get as much as you want and can afford.

butterdish93 · 11/04/2025 17:00

They’ve had from an aunty already.
ive got them a small one each for this weekend as we’re going away.
theyll get one each on actual Easter from me and DH.
they’ll get from both sets of GPs
they will do an Easter egg hunt at church and I’ll probably do them one in the garden too.
sounds like a lot but why not, it’s a special occasion and they eat a good, balanced diet.

Sofiewoo · 11/04/2025 17:01

Since you say you’re trying to save for a holiday I would just leave it at what you got. They’ll have forgot about eggs by the time they come back and you can put the money towards a treat on holiday!
Chocolate isn’t such a rare thing compared to the 80&90s so I don’t think eggs are particularly special to kids anyway. I regularly see school kids eating those £1 eggs on the bus after school! You never would have bought an egg to eat on the day weeks before Easter years ago.

Carol52 · 11/04/2025 17:02

I don’t really buy many Easter eggs now my teenagers prefer presents now

beautyqueeen · 11/04/2025 17:03

2 medium, 2 small, a Lindt bunny, a pack of chocolate cats from m&s, a chocolate lolly and an Easter chick biscuit. I did think about getting her some more as I was worried I’d not done enough but maybe not reading this!

Candlekiax · 11/04/2025 17:03

They had one each in early January when they first showed up on the supermarket shelves.

Other than that I've purchased an egg/plushie set for each of my children so actual Easter Eggs, 2 each (from parents).
They have another 1 each from grandparents.

We do bake a lot over Easter, mini egg rainbow cupcakes, bunny or egg shaped biscuits they can decorate themselves, chocolate nests or marshmallow square treats... etc.

legsekeven · 11/04/2025 17:06

I get them one medium egg each but they get tons from family. Normally eating them for two months

TheGriffle · 11/04/2025 17:08

Mine have got 2 each of the medium ones (I think, they were about £4/£6 or something) then I’ve got a couple of bags of some bags of mini wrapped eggs like Cadburys mini Daim eggs and some little wrapped Kinder things to do a hunt for them and a couple of packs of loose Easter chocolates like mini eggs and Easter Haribo that I use to fill up those refillable plastic eggs to also hide. There’s 10 of those to fill I think so 5 each with about 4/5 mini egg sized eggs in.

We usually end up using an egg or two to melt and make crispy buns after a month or so as they get one each from Grandparents too.

I used to go overboard and buy loads of the cheap little eggs to hide etc which no one ever ended up eating and it was such a waste so I’ve selected carefully this year and bought less but all chocolate they/we like so they will get eaten.

SordidSplendour · 11/04/2025 17:08

One really nice one and some minis for a hunt, maybe a bunny.

BeaAndBen · 11/04/2025 17:09

One medium egg each, some small hollow wrapped eggs hidden in the garden (works out at about 4 each) and a shared box of chocolates for the family from their grandparents.
