Going on a rare trip to Waitrose this afternoon, what’s going in my basket?

As in title, driving somewhere today that has a large Waitrose, haven’t been for years, also looking to cook a nice (posh but fairly simple) meal tonight. What should I pop in my basket.

Levantine Table whipped feta dip

The seabass on the
3 for £12 offer is delicious and excellent value.

Belgian chocolate hot cross buns!

Sherbert sweets. I realise that you can’t serve these for tea but I love them!

Proper French Mustard, the dark one. Only place I can find it is Waitrose. (Perfect for gravy, bolognese etc).

Radiatorvalves · 04/04/2025 12:23

The free magazine.

Clarice99 · 04/04/2025 12:26

Jacksons bread - no palm oil.

waltzingparrot · 04/04/2025 12:28

Vodka tomato pasta sauce
Sicilian lemon clotted cream

They are one of the few who still stock sausages who aren't gluten free. The Duchy ones and one or two of the other brands. I just prefer the texture if there is wheat instead of rice flour in them.

Tims Dairy yoghurt - the vanilla one is great, thick and creamy

I agree with the sea bass offer and the fish counter is great.

Their frozen pain au chocolate and croissants.

Buy some Ottelonghi jars to add flavouring to whatever you make https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/ottolenghi-sticky-date-tamarind-sauce/995389-835037-835038

Waitrose have early British asparagus in stock now too.

Oooh, I've never noticed this before. I always buy Dijon (Halen Mon when I can get it) but have just added this to my online shop.

If you're looking for a nice, simple dinner for tonight, check their No1 dine in deal. I think it's starter or dessert, main and side. I use it on the rare occasions I'm only cooking for two.

Was about to say the same then noticed you had beaten me to it…God when did I get so old? 😂

Bluevelvetsofa · 04/04/2025 12:38

Lime and coconut ice cream.

Netaporter · 04/04/2025 12:42

Cote de Veau if they have it - lovely flavour and way cheaper than Cote de Boeuf. I serve with a rocket salad and home made chips. Delish.

Levantine Flatbread
Grated Gruyère cheese (only place that sells it) and great for cheese straws with the French mustard
Morello Cherry pie
Lindt ’Dubai’ Chocolate - haven’t tried it but apparently they are limiting purchases to 2 bars per customer so I’d be tempted by FOMO alone.

I’m now hungry 😂

No.1 11 Italian Baci di Dama Biscuits.
British asparagus
450g pack of pre-cut mango
Chicken breast wrapped in parma ham with asparagus (and then you can just have more asparagus on the side to builk it up) - usually sits with the raw meat.

But, honestly, the Baci is the main thing. I usually make my own at home and have been unable to recently and they're a lifechanger with a coffee - one keeps me full until about midday!

The cheese swirls from the bakery counter are the best thing ever

If you avoid caffeine in the evenings, the Waitrose Essentials decaf tea bags are the best I've found.

They also do white free range eggs at a great price - Essentials range.

Waitrose Elderflower cordial and their sparkling presse one are lovely.

TheHorticulturalHussy · 04/04/2025 13:09

Cremant de Limoux.
Mushroom ketchup.

CilliansGoodGirl · 04/04/2025 13:13
