Going on a rare trip to Waitrose this afternoon, what’s going in my basket?

As in title, driving somewhere today that has a large Waitrose, haven’t been for years, also looking to cook a nice (posh but fairly simple) meal tonight. What should I pop in my basket.

OP posts:

Essential Waitrose thick cut marmalade.

Can't beat it.

TheTecknician · 04/04/2025 13:16

Ciabatta rolls. £1.60 for four.

Ecocool · 04/04/2025 13:19

So far I'm buying dark mustard, mushroom ketchup and bacci biscuits. Adding them to my next online shop. Loving this thread.

OP Here's something for your freezer or for eating over the weekend https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/waitrose-indian-fish-curry-for-2/042420-20992-20993?srsltid=AfmBOooFA1zdjXTGwEQPioLYsYjT7Od7sMynk_-cZsPrZyTfnAKV0J5B

Their celeriac remoulade is rather nice https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/waitrose-celeriac-remoulade/814726-498166-498167

White chocolate and lemon hot x buns

They aren't a patch on the orange chocolate ones they did a few years ago. Yet another thing they make me love then take away! I have a whole list of them!

This https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/no1-truffle-saucisson-sec/598724-705140-705141 is expensive but you only need a bit to liven up a recipie.

Unearthed pork rillets - they are amazing

Edited

My recommendation too!

idrinkandiknowthings · 04/04/2025 13:41

Not for cooking "with" but I love Waitrose's pork pie. Or I did until I started taking weight loss injections!

GameOfJones · 04/04/2025 13:48

Pecorino and basil dip.

The tiramisu in the fresh desserts section.

Free coffee if you have a Waitrose card and reusable cup.

JustSawJohnny · 04/04/2025 13:49

I keep looking at these but not buying.

Am I missing out?

I haven't had the orange ones but the plain ones are delicious.

outofideas2 · 04/04/2025 13:51

Most importantly, don't forget your Waitrose loyalty card if you have one and your takeaway cup so you can enjoy a free coffee on your way out!

What texture are they? Like normal biscuit or shortbread or pastry?

I find the size of them intriguing but I have questions! 😆

Arran2024 · 04/04/2025 13:55

Pick up some unsalted Isigny sur mer butter spread. Only place I can find it.

ouch321 · 04/04/2025 13:55

I know no-one on this forum would ever dream of eating them as they're not a healthy food but their jam doughnuts are the best around (bar Wenzels) and only £1.30 ish per pack of 5.

They're very thin, pastry kind of biscuity. Very easy to eat. We discovered them during lock down when we were buying up biscuits like mad. They have a savoury taste. They come individually wrapped in gorgeous paper.

Ecocool · 04/04/2025 14:07

Going down the rabbit hole here. Can anyone explain why this gorgeous sounding cheese would only have 20% fat in it? https://www.waitrose.com/ecom/products/isigny-ste-mere-raw-milk-camembert-cheese/716983-745321-745322

Sparklepoet · 04/04/2025 14:14

I love their yum yums!

Thanksforyourlackofthought · 04/04/2025 14:14

Orange wine!

Pinkpupsx · 04/04/2025 14:40

Their cavolo nero, pots of grilled artichokes (yum) in the deli section and the deliciously Ella rosemary cracker crisps.

Jessbow · 04/04/2025 14:47

Love their ownbrand chutny- £2.50 a jar.

red onion and apple and pear esp nice

They are one of the few who still stock sausages who aren't gluten free. The Duchy ones and one or two of the other brands. I just prefer the texture if there is wheat instead of rice flour in them.

Tims Dairy yoghurt - the vanilla one is great, thick and creamy

I agree with the sea bass offer and the fish counter is great.

Their frozen pain au chocolate and croissants.

Ooh I’d forgotten all about Tim’s Dairy yoghurt. I used to have it all the time but haven’t had it for absolutely ages. The blackberry one is also nice. I shall pop it on my shopping list!

HRTQueen · 04/04/2025 17:01

Clementine juice

haven’t seen it anywhere else

spinach and feta filo pastry ring it’s in the frozen section is very good
