Does anyone know where my glasses are?

StarCourt · 01/04/2025 01:23

I’m hoping the Mumsnet hive mind might be able to help me find my work glasses. I lost them a week ago and am having a terrible time trying to use my laptop for work now as I can’t read properly. I have some varifocals and can see a bit through the bottom part but it’s not ideal and outs my neck at a funny angle.
The only thing I can remember about my glasses is hearing them drop somewhere. I didn’t pick them up at the time which suggests i was possibly carrying something with both hands. I suspect it was a parcel delivery probably Amazon.
I have ADHD so am always losing glasses. keys etc and have a terrible memory.
Ive tried looking everywhere I can think of but no sign of the glasses. Suggest me some places to look please.

I was out walking the dog and stopped to
talk to a neighbour. There was a pair of glasses on the gate post, I asked whose are
these? My neighbour was visibly shocked and said we have been looking for those all week!

I always think of the last place / time I remember having them, it usually works for me.

In the wellie boots beside front door.
Behind or under the shoe rack.
In the pocket of something you haven’t worn since that day.
In plain site.
On the book shelf.

Having a chain has changed my life. I never loose my glasses now. Mine are like this. No way can you loose these!

Does anyone know where my glasses are?

On your head. (I have been known to find mine there)

If I ever find them (or when i buy a replacement pair ) I’m definitely going to have them on a chain.

Order a new pair. They will turn up 10 minutes later.

I tried that...I also have ADHD. Unfortunately, I then kept twirling them and broke off the leg.

I now keep 3 pairs of glasses - 2 in the house; one in the car glove compartment. It's the only way of ensuring that I can find one pair.

eyesoncctv · 01/04/2025 22:56

In the dog bed? (my pup has a habit of stealing mine..)

Member869894 · 01/04/2025 22:58

This happened to me. They had fallen into a bedside lamp

Renamed · 01/04/2025 22:59

I’m going to go with the bathroom. You’d have heard the fall there and they might get kicked into a corner or under something

trainedopossum · 01/04/2025 23:00

Mine fell into a box I was packing and were posted off to Le Creuset, who were kind enough to post them back to me.

LateMumma · 01/04/2025 23:02

Mine sometimes fall into the bed frame - so on that bit between the mattress and the headboard

pizzaHeart · 01/04/2025 23:18

inside the duvet cover
inside the box - any box which could have been opened at some point was
In the kitchen cupboard ( it’s one of my favourite places )

I get tendency to loose mine often as I need to take them off for reading something small. I take them off, put them somewhere and then carry on with my life without them. So when I need to find them, after checking a few obvious places, I just start a thorough search literally inch by inch up and down - it always gets them back.

Dollypollymolly · 01/04/2025 23:20

I always lose my glasses too (a lot of the times it’s fallen onto the floor next to my bed) - but I have reduced this issue of not finding it by getting two pairs of identical glasses prescribed now. It has really worked for me (two cheapish pairs at Polette)

if someone can now help me find my keys as they have gone missing for a few weeks now……..:

Have you tried praying to Saint Anthony yet? That always works!

Other ideas....
In the fridge
With your bags for life
In the airing cupboard
Under the bed
With whatever that parcel from Amazon was
In the sock or knicker drawer
Fallen into a boot or wellington

SofiaAmes · 01/04/2025 23:25

I was sent this when I lost my glasses....
No effing idea why MN thinks it's a "Sensitive Image"

Mine are usually on my head when I can’t find them.

I'd be a bit worried if they'd been on her head for a week and she hadn't noticed.

Op your just going to have to spring clean the house. Start in the hall.

Also a good idea. I’m going to have to bite the bullet and order some glasses I think.

I actually have and checked the car but as they are glasses specifically for work use I didn’t really think they’d be out there. ( I WFH )

did you put them on your head and go to your garden? bring in the washing and drop them on the ground

Feelingstrange2 · 02/04/2025 07:12

Last time I lost my glasses, my Dad (lives with us, has dementia) was wearing them!

His are not a dissimilar shape, and without my glasses on it wasn't obvious!
