How would you feel if you ate this in a day?

Foolsgold74 · 22/03/2025 21:20

Breakfast - 4 slices white toast n butter
Snack - 16 mini brownie bites
Lunch - small portion of fish fingers n chips
Snack - cheese n mayo sandwich
Dinner - large bowl of pasta with tomato sauce n grated cheese
8 glasses of sparkling water with lime cordial

Would this be akin to an average day for you? Would it leave you feeling hungry or stuffed? Bloated? Absolutely fine?

Bloody hell , I’ll be curious to know what size is that person , is not only the volume of it but the poor nutrition

Constipated

Same 😂😂. Quantity aside, after the 16 brownie bites I’d probably be feeling a bit 🤢🤢 but I haven’t been eating a lot of sugar and processed food for a while so a little bit makes me 🤢. Literally never eat white bread. DC doesn’t know it exists.

PLHJ84 · 22/03/2025 21:57

I couldn’t eat half of it in a day!

Boredom, loneliness, comfort eating, laziness, bad habits.

Sorry to hear it OP Flowers
If I were you I would try to tackle the bad habits first. Even if you keep your diet the same but add some fruit and veg, you will start to feel better mentally and probably more satiated too, meaning you will want less junk food. Do you think you could do that, or some other baby step in the right direction? Any step in the right direction can start a positive spiral.

Boredom, loneliness, comfort eating, laziness, bad habits.

Just from a few messages you’ve posted I’ve noticed how harsh you seem to be about yourself - “greedy”/ “lazy” etc.

I think I would feel shit about myself if I talked to myself like that - and would probably think, “fuck it, I’m going to eat a whole box of brownies”. I recall when a close family member died, I could not stop eating chocolate. Then I went to therapy and let out my feelings and I stopped eating them away.

The (what sounds like) compulsive eating is just a symptom -for other people it would be gambling/spending/substances/sex) of unprocessed difficulties, experiences or feelings. I would really encourage you to take the pressure off the food for a bit and instead focus on getting some therapy, noticing how you speak to yourself - and not posting anything which leaves you open to strangers criticising you! Good luck

I feel constantly worried that I'm damaging my health. I'm annoyed I've put 2 stone back on and no longer fit in my clothes. I have major energy slumps. I feel bloated and stuffed yet hungry at the same time.

You are clearly aware that you are damaging your health. You are still hungry because the mountain of food you are consuming is not providing your body with any proper nutrients. I guess you are not exercising either.

Only you can change this. The key is to cut out sugar and refined carbs and eat fruit and vegetables instead. Try Dr Becky on YouTube. Her short videos are really helpful.

Lucy Wyndham Read has lots of short and easy workouts.

Don't have 'bad' food in the house and cook proper meals.
Find interesting things to do. Reading, painting, knitting, gardening, learning Italian, restoring old furniture..... whatever floats your boat.
Have a thought-out daily schedule so you don't just drift.

Accept that it won't be easy, but you will feel much better if you persevere.

Matronic6 · 22/03/2025 21:59

Could you try vitamin B12. I often felt tired and run down and would eat quick and often sugary snacks to boost my energy. But I had blood tests and my B12 was very low, apparently it's essential in helping your body to convert food to energy. I started taking it months ago and feel way better. Have a lot more energy in the afternoon and snack far less.

Mudkipper · 22/03/2025 21:59

I find the best way to avoid eating junk is to plan something I really like and can look forward to. You’re hungry all the time because you’re not getting any fibre and very little protein.

No, not indigestion. I'm just a long term insomniac. Originates from shift work and jet lag.

Do you think if you got into a better life routine that you might not be tempted to eat so much low nutrition food? If you're just sitting around feeling sluggish and bored you're more likely to wander out to the kitchen and just go for something easy.

MarioLink · 22/03/2025 22:00

I wouldn't be able to eat four slices of toast first thing but could absentmindedly eat all those brownies! I could eat the rest if I skipped the sandwich snack or if I had the sandwich wouldn't eat all the pasta in would have it very late. I'm overweight but love food, have fussy kids, am super busy etc etc. I want to change, I love healthy food but don't eat it!

Zempy · 22/03/2025 22:00

I agree with PP. Mounjaro would really help you to eat more healthily and lose the excess weight.

What is your BMI now?

😱hungry??? 😱

Because there’s no nutrients that would leave me feeling full for a sustained period of time.

KellySeveride · 22/03/2025 22:01

Sick and bloated to be honest OP.

My advice would be switch the snack first, to something healthier. Do you like fruits and veggies?

I’d find that a huge amount of food, none of it healthy. I think I’d feel awful.

Specter17 · 22/03/2025 22:01

cal overload, mainly on the browines, the rest not as bad, but i dont do well with too many chrisp or cake. normal foods like pasta , chips etc im ok with

Toottooot · 22/03/2025 22:05

Would probably need an evening snack after dinner - big pack of crisps or a big slab of chocolate and maybe some ice cream would do nicely. Then the following day regret my choices.

WhatWouldTheDoctorDo · 22/03/2025 22:07

It sounds like you’ve got some terrible hqbits to unpick OP. Can you afford/have access to therapy. Can you slowly introduce some nutrients/healthier meals?

You’re not doing your health any favours. But you don’t need a random bunch of strangers on the internet to tell you that.,

Bayonetlightbulb · 22/03/2025 22:08

You must all have quite delicate digestive systems at it wouldn't impact mine at all (or maybe mine is rather indelicate!)
I don't look at it and think it is that huge an amount of food either to be honest. Yes, overeating for an average woman but not by a huge amount? I would have days where I would eat a similar amount but not every day which may be where the difference lies with op.
I'm not anywhere near overweight and never have been

Nannyfannybanny · 22/03/2025 22:09

Sick!

Azureshores · 22/03/2025 22:10

Why do you see it as "resorting" to a drug that could help you be healthy? If you had migraines would you take medication for them? Or high blood pressure? WLI's are really no different.

Have a look on the WLI boards and do some research - it's honestly made losing weight so easy for so many of us and the boards are really friendly and supportive. Why torture yourself if you could make eating healthily and sticking to a calorie deficit easy?

It's up to you of course but most people are just misinformed about the drugs and parrot stuff they've heard in the workplace. They've been used successfully in the US for years and years. For the first time in my life I don't even have to think about food unless it's to remind myself to eat. I think it's crazy to be able to take something that could take all that stress and upset away and not do it because you see it as "cheating" or being weak.

Halfemptyhalfling · 22/03/2025 22:10

The amount happens sometimes. The problem for me is there appears to be no fruit and vegetables. They will stop you getting hungry.

I'm 5'8. Was 9.13 , have put 2 stone on in 2 years, so am just about 12 stone.
I'm very active. Have an active job and walk a lot.

Sick and very acidic

Harrumphhhh · 22/03/2025 22:11

Genuine (not rhetorical) question: why haven’t you eaten any fruit or veg for months? Is it the taste/texture? Or something else?

LBFseBrom · 22/03/2025 22:11

You can get away with binge eating like that when you are young. When you are older you can't, you need a more balanced diet with nutritious food, fruit and veg, etc.

Consider your health. You don't want to end up with type ll diabetes and that's only one thing you could develop.
