How would you feel if you ate this in a day?

Foolsgold74 · 22/03/2025 21:20

Breakfast - 4 slices white toast n butter
Snack - 16 mini brownie bites
Lunch - small portion of fish fingers n chips
Snack - cheese n mayo sandwich
Dinner - large bowl of pasta with tomato sauce n grated cheese
8 glasses of sparkling water with lime cordial

Would this be akin to an average day for you? Would it leave you feeling hungry or stuffed? Bloated? Absolutely fine?

It would make me feel very sluggish and strange/dizzy because I cant tolerate carbs/sugary things very well. It would also conversely make me feel both ill but wanting to seek out similar foods again.

Plus you are being unreasonable to mix cheese and mayo together. A complete no go.

Those mini brownie bites are lethal, I dont know how they go down so easy but they do.

LBFseBrom · 22/03/2025 21:45

i would barely be able to move if I ate all that in one day and I love my food.

I hope what you have described was a one off and that you don't usually eat that much, certainly not all that toast and the brownies.

Eight glasses of lime cordial is an awful lot too.

Physically I would feel violently ill and have painful acid reflux, most likely vomiting. Psychologically, I would feel great shame and guilt because I know that the food/eating was a symptom of something else that’s making me unhappy.

I've had acid reflux recently for the first time ever.

I'd be craving some fresh vegetables!

BlumminFreezin · 22/03/2025 21:45

From where you are, I wouldn't try a drastic overhaul op. Just some tweaks to get some fruit and veg in and minimise the white bread.

Switch to half and half bread. Have 2 slices with breakfast, with butter, slice a banana on top.
Have 8 brownie bites, followed by an apple.
Have your fish fingers and chips with a fuck tonne of peas on the side.
Change the cheese sandwich for cheese and celery sticks as a snack.
Have the pasta and sauce minus the cheese but chuck a tin of kidney beans in the sauce.
Sparkling water is fine, far better than pop.

It's daily. Like this for much of my adult life. It's usually more sweets and chocolates too. Plus diet coke.

I would eat this okay - the 16 brownies bit much but apart from that not much food!

TheChosenTwo · 22/03/2025 21:47

Probably bloated and at the same time like I’d still not eaten enough to properly fill me up!
That’s a lot of calories for not very much nutrition. It would also mess up my guts one way or another.

HowToChangeWays · 22/03/2025 21:48

I could eat that :(
But I would feel sluggish. And craving more sweet stuff.

Loloj · 22/03/2025 21:48

As a one-off I’d feel a bit bloated and gross for eating so many carbs in a day.

If this was typical of every day I would rapidly put on weight - that’s far too many calories, carbs and no fruit/veg

waitingquietly · 22/03/2025 21:48

I wouldn’t be able to eat all that OP , I’d feel physically sick I think . I could probably eat about half of that and then still feel not great .

It sounds like you have a number of issues going on with the shift work insomnia as well .probably all conspiring against you . Have you talked to your GP?

Was that given to a child - if so what age

or is the Op claiming s/he ate that ?

I ate it.

I'd feel ill.

I dont really eat much bread / pasta / cheese, and I dont think id eat 16 brownie bites as a snack either..... 2, 3, 4 maybe? (and id feel like a pig by 3 or 4) but never 16.

I'd have to be extremely hungry to ever eat a cheese and mayo sandwich.

I'd also NEVER eat a sandwich as a snack... it would always be my smaller meal

ForestFox44 · 22/03/2025 21:49

I'd feel pretty gross and like I needed to eat veg for the next week 😬

I no longer do shift work. It's just what triggered the insomnia years ago.

I physically couldn’t eat all that.

MolluscMonday · 22/03/2025 21:50

Honestly, I’d vomit.

Just an observation- a number of people have noted that they would feel unsatisfied- I guess that would drive you to eat even more - is this one reason why sone people - those who eat thier veggies - might find it easier to stay a healthy weight ?

Protein rather than veg per se although of course eating volumes of veg as part of a protein and veg meal is helpful

WORKERbeen · 22/03/2025 21:51

Foolsgold74 · 22/03/2025 21:29

My eating is out of control. I've not had a single piece of fruit or any veg for months. Sweets, chocolate n biscuits are being main-lined and I've put 2 stone on in 2 years. I'm greedy and struggling to get myself back under control.

I honestly think sometimes OP you get stuck in a food rut, try different more flavourful foods and you might find you eat less as you are more satisfied with what you ate.

Soups for lunch are a good start as there are so many options, lentil soups which are spiced and basically like curries will give you the same dopamine hit as a chocolate brownie but keep you fuller for longer.

Azureshores · 22/03/2025 21:40

Can you afford mounjaro? Game changer. Just reading what you ate there makes me want to vom. I have between 900-1200 calories a day and can't manage any more. Ive lost two stone in 10 weeks.

I can afford it but it feels like I should just get my act together rather than resort to ozempic.

WearyAuldWumman · 22/03/2025 21:52

It wouldn't agree with me, mainly because I don't react well to gluten.

Wakemeupbe4yougogo · 22/03/2025 21:54

I'd be in a diabetic coma eating that amount of carbs. I don't eat rice, pasta, bread, starchy veg and feel an awful lot better for it and my type 2 is under much better control.

Delphiniumandlupins · 22/03/2025 21:54

I would feel pretty full and not want to eat tomorrow. I would never eat 4 slices of toast at one sitting and prefer muesli or granola for breakfast. I like to add some berries or banana and then often don't want lunch. I'm not a great snacker until the evening (when I could probably make a big hole in your mini brownie bites). I know that "supper" is my weakness so I try not to buy the foods that I want to eat then - chocolate, crisps, ice cream.

Constipated

My first thought as well!

Mudkipper · 22/03/2025 21:56

I’d be gassy and constipated.
