How would you feel if you ate this in a day?

Breakfast - 4 slices white toast n butter
Snack - 16 mini brownie bites
Lunch - small portion of fish fingers n chips
Snack - cheese n mayo sandwich
Dinner - large bowl of pasta with tomato sauce n grated cheese
8 glasses of sparkling water with lime cordial

Would this be akin to an average day for you? Would it leave you feeling hungry or stuffed? Bloated? Absolutely fine?

Thank you for all the food suggestions. As ridiculous as it may sound to some, I feel overwhelmed with food. I've always been the same. I've walked out of supermarkets before cos I can't bear all the choices. I feel frozen if I contemplate walnuts, dates, oats, eggs etc. Unimaginable to many people but it's how I feel. No food issues whatsoever growing up. Lovely parents who had no hang ups. I did always used to squirrel away an extra chocolate biscuit though secretly from an early age, so I reckon I was born this way!!

Seems like way too much. I’d feel a bit gross tbh.

I do feel gross. Physically and mentally.

It's not about wanting, you need to eat veg. You're missing out on a lot of nutrients by not eating meat so it's even more important that you eat veg and have a nutritious, balanced diet. I say this as a vegetarian myself.

Good point! It just feels so unjust though 😆

For me it's not so much the amount of food as much as the lack of variety
I have no stop button when it comes to sweet, can easily.eat a large bar of chocolate, but if I did that as a morning snack I'd either skip lunch or just have veg and hummus or something, I wouldn't be able to eat chips afterwards.

Is there a reason you don't eat any fruit or veg?

Don't like most fruit. Weird textures. I don't mind some veg. I'm just a bit lazy and find it a pain to prepare. I don't have a microwave but I do have a steamer and I occasionally use that.

Hi @Foolsgold74 , have you tried something like Gousto? I really struggle with supermarkets, and just tend to end up buying a load of crap.

So I get Gousto for four meals a week, and it's much easier. It will involve you having to cook properly, but I find the fact that I've spent the money on it gets me off my arse enough to make it.

TheTwirlyPoos · 24/03/2025 10:26

I don't think anything is going to change unless you're prepared to start making that effort.

It doesn't have to be homemade brownies with dates. But even adding some peas and carrots with your dinner would give you some much needed vitamins.

OP what about joining a food/cooking class and perhaps volunteering at a Community Kitchen too ... there is so much you could do OP if you wanted to ... you could also look at Gousto, HelloFresh etc ... I am pretty sure they do Vegetarian Menu Options for you too.

It would be a start ...

Good Luck!

Update. Just saw that others have also suggested Gousto too ... go for it OP!

You now the saying...... no pain, no gain' (or in this case loss...).

You seem to be drifting. You need a well-thought out daily schedule, for both food and activities.

Vegetating on sofa strictly limited.

At least one chore from your to do list to be accomplished.
One fun/nurturing the soul type activity each day.
A planned menu of food, both what and when.

Some of Jamie Oliver's books have easy recipes. Often found in libraries and charity shops, e.g. the 15 minute meals one or the meals comprised of just 5 ingredients.

I agree.

Apologiesfor sounding blunt here but I am getting exasperates at the OP's negativity here.

@Foolsgold74 So many posters have come up with some brilliant ideas, but you petulantly come back with "I don't like vegetables" at every suggestion

It sounds like you don't want to change your eating habits.

You need to grow up and take responsibility if you don't want to create lifelong health issues.

MsAdaLovelace · 24/03/2025 10:57

Totally agree with both @RampantIvy and @TheTwirlyPoos .

OP you have been given a lot of GREAT suggestions here but all I/we are hearing is 'don't like this, don't like that'!

You can/could do it if you really, really wanted to OP ...

Lentilweaver · 24/03/2025 11:26

Just shove some mushrooms on your toast.
Add some lettuce and tomatoes or cucumbers to your sandwich.
Toss some peas, broccoli or carrots in your pasta.
It's really not ' unjust' or whatever dramatic term you call it.

Foolsgold74 · 24/03/2025 11:32

Gusto/Hello Fresh is a really good idea. I'll look today and put an order in. Thanks for the nudge with that one.

Snack - 16 mini brownie bites
Lunch - small portion of fish fingers n chips
Snack - cheese n mayo sandwich
Dinner - large bowl of pasta with tomato sauce n grated cheese
8 glasses of sparkling water with lime cordial

I would feel extremely fatigued and sluggish.

Four slices of toast is greedy. One or two is more than sufficient.

A snack of 16 mini brownie bites would be ok in a competitive eating competition but would make me vomit. Don't buy them if you don't have the willpower to eat one or two as a snack. Eating 16 indicates an overeating problem.

Lunch, small portion of fish and chips sounds fine. I am a vegetarian and don't eat fish but I imagine that it would be very filling.

Snack of a cheese mayonnaise sandwich would be completely unnecessary given the dish and chips at lunch time. I'd be absolutely stuffed at this point.

Dinner of a large bowl of pasta is another huge amount to eat and unless this a a regular habit would be a struggle for many.

A small amount of pasta would be sufficient or perhaps a less laden carb meal of a feta salad instead.

The water intake sounds fine.

NellieJean · 24/03/2025 11:58

Awful.

Sortumn · 24/03/2025 17:06

Op, I hope having gousto helps. I reckon you could make about 5 meals on rotation to keep in the fridge/freezer for those days where you can't think what to eat. Any meals you get from gousto that you felt were worth the effort, note down the ingredients, keep the recipe and buy that next time in the supermarket.

Also another thing occurs to me. You don't have to have breakfast for breakfast. You could buy some ready made soups and have that with your two slices of toast. -or anything else none breakfasty that will take the fancy.

I know you said you struggle to know what to buy in the supermarket. I think I get what you mean, so thry making a list through the week. Add one thing to it each week thank you could try.
You mentioned walnuts. Walnuts are a great snack - portion some out with some dark chocolate maybe and have that with one brownie.
Small changes are all you need.

I would be sick to my stomach, and bloated from the soda alone, let alone all of the other stuff
