Tesla cars: are you getting rid of yours?

CrazyOldMe · 13/03/2025 21:16

Disclaimer: I can't afford a Tesla anyway!

However, I do know of several very decent people who own Tesla cars. They paid a lot for them and know that they can only sell them at a loss. It doesn't seem fair really.

If you have one, what are your future plans with it?

On that note, what will happen to the cars next do you think? Will the company go bust?

I stand corrected, this wins! Holy shit. They’ve done a number on you.

Who is "they" ?

I love how the word Tesla in a post acts like a dog whistle for raving MAGAs

And this kind of talk is why the Dems lost the election.

watchseehear · 13/03/2025 21:24

If I had one I would definitely think about getting rid of it OP. Swasticars are not cool!

Edit this is not a judgement on anyone who owns one. I appreciate it is not their fault that Elon is doing as he currently is.

But I would definitely be wary of someone who bought one now knowing what he is up to.

Edited

My car is a old banger so it doesn't effect me. But I think these insulting comments that lump everyone together reminds me of the "Karen" thing. Own a Tesla? Your a Na..... woman with a opinion? Your a Karen. Hilarious I'm sure until you find yourself the next Karen or Swasticars. Much like lumping people together on race, gender, religion, skin colour no?

All people who .... are .... I don't like it tbh.

Nope. Turkeys voting for Christmas is what lost the Dems the election.

Keep insulting people's intelligence and FAFO on the next election.

Personally I can't stand Musk but I am allergic to virtue signallers.

Amonyme · 14/03/2025 00:42

No, and no.
But yeah, it's always a winning argument to say we shouldnt boycott any product because there are other questionable products.

Consumers have power. We have the choice what we buy and in exercising that choice we can help shape the world.

No, wrong, I never mentioned the word boycott.
It is you who thinks that people who own teslas support fascism.
There are lots of brands and products that I avoid for ethical reasons, but I don't assume that people who wash their clothes with Fairy are fully supportive of the actions of P&G, or that they are climate change deniers. Why assume that someone who has a tesla likes Elon Musk therefore must support his views? Maybe they just like the car!

Never2many · 14/03/2025 01:02

There’s never been a better time to buy a Tesla. I imagine there are some real bargains to be had.

The virtue signalling and made up bollocks on this thread is ridiculous. “Most people I know have got rid of their Tesla’s” yeah course they have. Not.

ZebedeeDougalFlorence · 14/03/2025 01:08

I think what is happening to Tesla is brilliant. It is so upsetting to wake up every day to discover a new "initiative" introduced by Trump and Musk to line their own pockets at the expense of ordinary people. I felt so helpless (especially given that i am not American) but this whole thing with Tesla proves that we do have some power. We can boycott Tesla and X and everything else he is involved with.

That was a long winded answer to your question: I do not own a TESLA and would never have bought one in the first place - even if I could afford one - because of not wanting to give Musk a red cent of my money.

What a curious viewpoint.... I guess you've got a very limited understanding of economics, history, politics, marketing ....

Yes, I have.

But, worry not, I'll just get myself over to twitter, download a list of companies to boycott, tell everyone who doesn't agree with me that they're a nazi and they should fuck off and die, and in doing so transform the world.

Whether current owners are selling their cars or not, sales figures show that people are boycotting the company, which in my view is wonderful.

Boycotts worked against South Africa all those years ago and one of the first boycotting campaigns contributed to the abolition of enslavement many more years ago.

Sounds like a very good plan to me. Good luck.

Is he usually that stupid? What does he “direct” exactly? Lmfao

Whatever he directs he's obviously got money to burn, which makes him far from stupid.

Ursulla · 14/03/2025 01:18

The South African boycott only cut off opportunities for collaboration and partnership for people who were themselves adversely affected by apartheid and had little effect on apartheid itself. What actually ended it was armed struggle and internal political entrenchment, not a bunch of adenoidal Islington dwellers walking past oranges in Waitrose.

I never bought SA products because it would have turned my stomach to do so. The boycotts were part of a bigger strategy of expressing solidarity with those who opposed the regime.

Ursulla · 14/03/2025 01:45

Yeah, whenever I'm being tortured and killed and having my house burned down what really makes a difference to me is a Bristolian with a manbun expressing solidarity with me on his inspirational linkedin page.

Spectacularly misses the point of a boycott.

Not really. The point of boycotts is to make the people taking part in them feel good about themselves. They rarely have much impact beyond that.

Magats won the election, but do not know how to act like winners.
So sensitive, can't relax, waiting in the internet cut to jump on any.hint of criticism of Orange or Pasty Bwoy.

What a palaver!

My husband had a Tesla until late week when he turned it in for an electric car from a different manufacturer. He had had it for just over a year and loved it. He took a bit of a financial hit on it but just couldn’t stand to be seen driving around in a swastikar.

He is somewhat obsessed with what’s going on in the States and is trying hard to avoid any American products. Bit difficult as we are an all Apple household.

I wouldn't worry about it. Your stuff was probably made in China anyway, and their government is loads better than the USA. The raw materials will have been mined by kiddies with occupational heart failure though.

Happyinarcon · 14/03/2025 02:26

I have the feeling the anti Tesla car thing is a media invention. With the cost of living and with so many other issues going on I don’t think people care enough about this. Nobody is going to sell their car because some weird stuff Elon did that they couldn’t be bothered reading about in the first place
