I expect so as there's over 3000 of us. I used to work with a guy that had the same first name AND surname as the CEO of the high street bank we worked for. We got a fair bit of misdirected post through the internal mail (pre internet days).

chattyness · 06/03/2025 21:08

the last place I worked had 3 x Louise, 3 x Ann, 2 x Karen, 4 x Julie, 2 x Alison, 2 x Lynda, 2 x Tracey, 2 x Margaret & just to add to the confusion there was one each of : Aileen, Eileen, Ilene, Irene & Irena .

Our place isn’t as big as that but I have a colleague with the same initials & first name as the HR Director. He told me that he frequently gets misdirected emails, followed by urgent requests to delete them.

Most of the men are called Peter or Ole, although one Ole left. We had 2 Jens but one retired and the other sadly died.

We had a team at one point that was almost entirely composed of men called David.

Mum2jenny · 06/03/2025 21:13

If it’s a large workplace, obviously there will be plenty.
What is your point/ question?

Pumpkincozynights · 06/03/2025 21:13

I used to work with 3 Sarah’s and 2 Rachel’s. Small team.

GrannyAchingsShepherdsHut · 06/03/2025 21:13

Yes, loads. It's a big organisation, loads of people have same first and surname as someone else - me included.

It's a bit of a nuisance with emails - sometimes as you get them for the other 'you' or they get yours.

Beebsta · 06/03/2025 21:15

Small company (think less than 20 direct employees) with 3 Ben’s plus one woman whose husband was also Ben.

JaninaDuszejko · 06/03/2025 21:16

I once worked in a department of 50 people where there were seven Rebeccas.

roshi42 · 06/03/2025 21:16

Oh my god, so many Robs.

NImumconfused · 06/03/2025 21:16

Yep, we have loads, including several where both first name and surname are the same (I'm one of them). I got a lot of her emails when she joined at first, but most people have sorted it out now.

Crinkle77 · 06/03/2025 21:20

We have 2 guys in our department with the same first name and surname. Causes them no end of problems cos they keep getting email for the other one.

honeylulu · 06/03/2025 21:21

There's a joke at our firm (law) that if you're female and your name isn't Elizabeth, Katherine or Helen, you won't be offered a job with us! At one point there were three Elizabeths in a department of about 12 in total.

Lawyers are generally known for being risk adverse. Maybe it started with our parents as safe, traditional names in our profession are very much the norm.

Watto1 · 06/03/2025 21:21

We are overwhelmed with Brians! 22 men in the entire company and 4 of them are called Brian. Then in joint second place we have 3 Richards and 3 Mikes. Only 4 women in the company and we all have unique names.

Ddakji · 06/03/2025 21:23

Lots of Martins

Tooty78 · 06/03/2025 21:24

At one company I worked for, there were 8 Denise's!

BathTangle · 06/03/2025 21:28

My team (6 people) has two Jameses, each of whom is married to a woman called Sophie...

LegoAirlines · 06/03/2025 21:32

I've also had a 'David' team, and currently have a 'Chris' team. My industry is overwhelmingly middle class, middle aged white men.

AgeingDoc · 06/03/2025 21:32

In my last job there were two other consultants with the same forename as me in the Trust. We had different surnames, didn't look anything like each other and were in totally different specialties but people regularly got us confused.

ThePoetsWife · 06/03/2025 21:34

Lots of Andrew's at a previous place

Bejinxed · 06/03/2025 21:35

In my team of 6 there are three people who have the same first name and another two who have a different same first name. 4 people have the same middle name.

Tiredalwaystired · 06/03/2025 21:37

My colleague has the exact same name as our CEO. He’s had some very interesting emails in the past…

Creamsnackered · 06/03/2025 21:38

Small workplace with only women and no duplicates but most of us have a husband called Matthew, David or Andrew. Seems like there wasn't a great deal of boys' names in circulation in the 70s and 80s.

garlictwist · 06/03/2025 21:40

We have several Lucys. It's a bit of a running joke. But I don't think any other duplicates.
