In my team of 8 people we have 2 guys called Dan, same age, look very similar and both have 4 year old sons called Ben. Very confusing

SpottedDonkey · 07/03/2025 20:28

I used to work in an office in which out of approx 20 women, 3 were called Laura. Fortunately, they came from different nations of the UK, so they were known as ‘English Laura’, ‘Welsh Laura’ & ‘Scottish Laura’.

DrunkPuppy · 07/03/2025 20:31

There's about 50 of us, we have 2 Joanne, 2 Gemma, 2 Stephen, 2 Ciara. we used to have 3 Catherine's and 2 Bronagh, but we're down to one of each!

TeenLifeMum · 07/03/2025 20:37

Quite a few called Paul, Peter and David.

3 called Sallyann who all do the same specialist job in the same dept.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 07/03/2025 20:38

Ten years' time, we'll be inundated by Olivias and Graces.

blueshoes · 07/03/2025 20:38

Yes, many same and similar sounding names. And we are all in the same team!

Mices · 07/03/2025 20:40

My last place of work had five men with the same Christian name and surname.

Welcome to Scotland.

Taytocrisps · 07/03/2025 20:47

We had about six Marys at one point, but some of them have left or retired since. Two of the Marys had the same surname, which caused a lot of confusion - calls were directed to the wrong Mary and they often got post or e-mails which were intended for the other.

Blueuggboots · 07/03/2025 21:03

3 Rachel's (and one Rachael)!
We did have 4 Sarah's at my old place....

honeyfox · 07/03/2025 21:09

There are about 8 people in my building with either my first name or a very similar variant. It's not a particularly common name either.

Mumofyellows · 07/03/2025 21:17

Lots of Lucys

NicolaCasanova · 07/03/2025 21:18

We have 3 Helens. Not really surprising as it was also the most popular name at school.

mewkins · 07/03/2025 21:20

A lot of Lauras. A lot of Phils.

Cherrywino · 07/03/2025 21:26

One place I worked was majority women and 3 men called Steve.

Our manager used to address the meetings "good morning ladies and steves"

Bloom15 · 07/03/2025 21:50

We have 2 Natalies in the whole company- of which I am one!

madaffodil · 07/03/2025 21:53

There's only 6 of us where I work, and we all have different names.

Two of us do have the same birthday though.

piscofrisco · 07/03/2025 21:54

In an office of 84 people we had four Lauren's (all aged between 22 and 31).

TheMorels · 07/03/2025 21:56

Public service announcement.

The plural of a name does not require an apostrophe.

LastTwoBraincellsFightingFor3rdPlace · 07/03/2025 21:59

Lots. x2 Sarah (and a Sara, to complicate matters), x2 Hannah, x2 Melanie, x2 Allison, x2 Nicola and x2 Adam.

I’m sure there’s more. There’s around 200 staff in total, though.

ARichtGoodDram · 06/03/2025 23:39

In the last place I worked we had a nightmare with two staff members with the same name and date of birth.

One of them ended up using their middle name after so many mix ups - including a bonus!

What's the chances of that?

I've heard of it happening on a maternity ward which i kind of understand. They were getting confliciting blood results, before someone twigged.

I have worked somewhere with two Jim Smiths and a John Smith just to confuse.
I also know a few kids who've ended up in school with kids with same first name & second name

Zeitumschaltung · 07/03/2025 22:08

It’s a large organization and there were once two employees with the same first, middle and last names and same date of birth.

Mices · 08/03/2025 06:13

If you have the same name as the head of Personnel, you get some embarrassing emails.

sashh · 08/03/2025 06:26

Department of about 20, 3 x Catherine/Kathryn/etc.

Big Catherine
Small Catherine and
Cath

Before that at high school there were 5 Catherine/Kathryn/etc and a Kathleen, but in other classes there were at least 3 more Catherine/Kathryn/and Kathleens.

I taught a class with a 'Black Chrystal' and a 'White Crystal'.

This is why in sign languages everyone has their own 'sign name', you might have 4 people called James but each will have a different sign name, it makes life much simpler.

Well as long as you are facing someone, sigh names can't be used in email.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 08/03/2025 06:31

3 Claire’s, that’s it. We are quite a small team so 3 of the same name is a lot.

A ward I used to work on years ago had 3 x Claire’s on shift together once. They all spelt their name differently too, very odd! Only happened once!!

Fifthtimelucky · 08/03/2025 07:02

Lots of people with the same first name but I also worked with a team of about 6 people, two of whom shared both a first name and a surname!
