Burnt or cooked?

My colleague says my crumpets are burned and fit for the bin
I say perfectly double toasted, she reckons they should be pale still and floppy

Seems to be a 50/50 split here, so I'm asking you lot!

Burnt or cooked?

They look perfect imo, Op.

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 04/03/2025 13:13

Ooh, I hate an undercooked crumpet but I think they've just tipped into burnt

shellyleppard · 04/03/2025 13:13

They look fine to me.....my grandad was a chef. His motto was.....if its brown its cooked if its black it's buggered 🤣🤣

Shintoland · 04/03/2025 13:13

overcooked but edible

Dartmoorcheffy · 04/03/2025 13:14

They look perfect to me

FabuIous · 04/03/2025 13:14

I’d agree with overcooked but edible.

yeesh · 04/03/2025 13:14

Perfect for me, nothing worse than a floppy crumpet 😂

CarrieOnComplaining · 04/03/2025 13:14

Overdone.

They should be golden.

Not dark brown and not pale.

Minikievs · 04/03/2025 13:15

Perfect 🤩

HÆLTHEPAIN · 04/03/2025 13:15

Perfect for me too. I hate spongy crumpets.

Mach3 · 04/03/2025 13:17

Flaccid crumpets are repulsive.

I like mine good and toasted like yours.

faithspikebuffy · 04/03/2025 13:18

I also like my bacon so crispy it snaps
Colleague eats hers barely cooked
Wonder if there's a link...

A little overcooked but I do like mine a little crispy. I would eat them.

Mach3 · 04/03/2025 13:18

I prefer a pikelet though. Higher topping to base ratio and can get them nice and crispy.

WinWhenTheyreSinging · 04/03/2025 13:18

Perfect (although they wouldn't want any more). Nothing worse than a barely warmed through crumpet, they should have bite.

Undoubtedly.

Does she wear dentures?

Or just hate texture?

JennyForeigner · 04/03/2025 13:20

Perfect, you want a bit of texture on the top of a crumpet to contrast with the lovely warm butter-filled channels below.

Mmmm butter-filled...

faithspikebuffy · 04/03/2025 13:20

She's younger than me so no dentures!

My manager has been roped in who said "I don't care as long as you don't set the fire alarm off"

They look perfect, but I like everything a little burnt, my husbands the opposite.

CointreauVersial · 04/03/2025 13:21

Nowt worse than a limp, pasty crumpet - sometimes they are still chilly in the middle - urgh.

Floranan · 04/03/2025 13:21

Looks perfect to me, I like my toast well done too, and crispy bacon

TheOliveFinch · 04/03/2025 13:22

They look perfect to me

CointreauVersial · 04/03/2025 13:22

I found some crumpets on the breakfast buffet of a hotel I stayed at recently - had to send them through the little conveyor belt toaster three times before they were done to perfection.

UsedToBeAtAmber · 04/03/2025 13:23

Your crumpets are perfect. I like sausages cooked until dark brown all over. Ds made this abomination at the weekend!

Oh no no no
I like sausages just on the very edge of over done, nice and brown all over
