Tiramisu.

I'm about to try some.
I know I'm not going to like it, but hey ho! 😅

Anything you've yet to try?

Ive never had Matcha... the way everyone goes on about it online I assume we are the only household in the world not to have had it.

I'm once burned twice shy of trying stuff influence keep babbling about though after trying Kombucha and it being the worst thing ever.

Suppose thats more 'drank' than ate but I have food intolerance so most things I haven't eaten is due to that.

SnoozingFox · 02/03/2025 17:44

The only thing on the list to date that i've not eaten is durian.

I have tried stilton, black pudding, fried insects, not a fan. Happily eat things with tentacles, oysters, any sort of seafood really, venison is tasty as is veal, like haggis and agree the veggie one (which is actually vegan I think) is very good.

I think by "white sausage" she means white pudding.

thesnailandthewhale · 02/03/2025 17:45

Honey - the smell makes me gag
Sushi

MarchWindsAnd · 02/03/2025 17:45

Food delivered from a takeaway.

Or any food from a takeaway, unless you count fish and chips over 30 years ago.

Edit: and most of the non-vegetarian food mentioned in earlier posts.

Kilroywashere · 02/03/2025 17:45

Witchetty grubs. Century egg.

The only weird thing I'd never eat again was jellyfish, though duck's tongues come a close second.

Nothatgingerpirate · 02/03/2025 17:45

46, never had sushi.

2dogsandabudgie · 02/03/2025 17:45

Never eaten curry.

TortolaParadise · 02/03/2025 17:45

Things I will try when I reach my 50s:
sherry
port
squid
jollof

CrystalSingerFan · 02/03/2025 17:45

I've never eaten bottarga, but that's because I don't live near the Mediterranean/Fortnum and Maison.

Is it as fab (if you're a seafood fan) as I imagine...

Katypp · 02/03/2025 17:42

I could not bring myself to try anything that has the word 'fermented' in its description.
I can't even eat overripe pears or bananas so kimchi etc is stomach-churning to me.
I mean, why would you??

Because you're starving, and it's a way of preserving food, and there's nothing else.

See also: nettles, winkles, escargot, etc, etc, etc...

deathbypiles · 02/03/2025 17:08

Fish, or any type of seafood.
I just KNOW I won't like it, it stinks.
I'm 50 in 4 months.

Fresh fish doesn't smell.

Sadly most people never get to taste really fresh fish. I mean just off the boat fresh. I'm not the biggest fish eater but I'm there if it's just of the boat.

randoname · 02/03/2025 17:46

I’ve eaten everything!
But is stopped drinking 16 years ago so there’s a whole generation of drinks I’ve never tasted- Jägermeister, espresso martini, aperol etc. I know I’d love them- hence the stopping drinking 😳

Lovelyview · 02/03/2025 17:46

I did a tour in the Northern Territory in Australia where the guide showed us some ants (live) that were eaten by traditional aboriginal cultures and people were trying them. I didn't (I was vegetarian at the time but even if I wasn't I don't think I would). I have tried most things but I've never had tripe and always refused to try school rice pudding.

AngelinaFibres · 02/03/2025 17:46

ProbableDoris · 02/03/2025 17:03

I have actually tried (and liked) all three of these!

I’ve never tried oysters, but nothing, and I mean NOTHING, could convince me to swallow globs of salty snot.

I often wonder who first shucked open an oyster and thought" ooo yum, I should definitely put that in my mouth"

Anything you've yet to try?

Tripe, hearts and various other offal

haggis, black pudding, curry (the smell is awful to me).

oysters…. They look like phlegm. Any fish with a face still attached when being served. Oh, and escargot. No. Just no. Frogs legs again, no.

quinoa…. What is it?

pease pudding, looks vile.

caviar. Even if I had the money the concept makes me feel a bit gross.

fois gras pate. I just hate the idea of how it’s made, despite not being a vegetarian, which is seriously hypocritical I know.

Pomegranites. Look nice, just never had opportunity

butterpuffed · 02/03/2025 17:46

I tried a cup of tea when I was in my teens . Yuk . Never had any since .

Fgfgfg · 02/03/2025 17:46

Cheese

Shodan · 02/03/2025 17:47

There are probably loads of more unusual things I haven't eaten (durian fruit, fried insects for example) but I've tried pretty much everything else listed here.

My more 'usual' thing I've never tried is artichokes- neither the globe nor the jerusalem kind. I keep meaning to, but never get around to it.

Tomatocutwithazigzagedge · 02/03/2025 17:48

Any of the teas that came out recently like bubble tea, matcha etc

RosesAndHellebores · 02/03/2025 17:48

In my 60s and have never eaten:

Brawn (I remember my grandmother boiling the pig's head)
Tripe
Pig's trotters
Bright pink spam - not even at school
Andouillette
Sweetbreads
Tongue
Black pudding
Haggis

There's a theme there but I very much like: kidneys, liver, stuffed hearts (a childhood memory now)

And from the mainstream:

KFC and the kebab things that get sliced off the massive thing, I can't remember the name.

Ooh, I ate jellyfish once in London's Chinatown. It was like eating elastic bands... Was it the same for you?

OllyBJolly · 02/03/2025 17:48

The only item mentioned that I've never tried is @deeahgwitch 's pigs' feet. Don't think I want to.....

I do love oysters and tripe was a frequent dish served up to me as a child when we had to sit at the table until we ate everything on the plate 😬Never had a palatable octopus although a friend tells me I've just never had it properly cooked and it really is delicious.

I often wonder who first shucked open an oyster and thought" ooo yum, I should definitely put that in my mouth"

A starving person.

Most of us have never been close to literal starvation.

MorganMankini · 02/03/2025 17:48

Fried egg. I'm 48

HelenWheels · 02/03/2025 17:48

considering i am 60 this year, i think i should try oysters
my dd tried oysters in vodka and loved them, so i might try that way
