Tiramisu.

I'm about to try some.
I know I'm not going to like it, but hey ho! 😅

Anything you've yet to try?

Lidl got me hooked on their padron peppers and then stopped selling them at my local store. I’ve not forgiven that yet. Living in hope of them returning.

Edited

Were they in the greengrocery part of the store? Or just, NOT?

SnoozingFox · 02/03/2025 22:39

Well exactly, @MasterBeth . Stop 100 people in any British town and ask if they've eaten fried eggs or baked beans and 90+ will say yes. Ask if they have eaten sheep brains and 90+ will say definitely not.

I'm not sure why people are trying to twist that into some kind of value judgement on cultures which love sheep brains and don't eat eggs.

Now that I come to think of it, I believe I've still never had salad cream.

Salad cream with battered fish fingers on a white bread sandwich is delicious.

I don't think it's any different to eating meat really.

Yes, but I don't like kidney either, which I also used to eat until I found out the function of kidneys in the body.

I suppose if you don't fancy it it's fine but I still think black pudding is delicious and would rather eat that than a steak. Kidney tastes how you think 🤢

I grew up in a house without pickled onions, Marmite, piccalilli, salad dressing, sandwich spread, yorkshire puddings, salad cream and probably dozens of other things that were common staples to other people. Families are all different.

We didn't have Marmite, but now I look back there were a LOT of pickly and condiment things in my childhood home!

I don't think it's any different to eating meat really.

I find the taste and texture very different from, say, a chicken leg.

JohnTheRevelator · 03/03/2025 17:56

I'm 61 and I've never eaten oysters. Or whelks. Or cockles. Nor do I ever want to. 😂🤢

MumMRM · 03/03/2025 18:09

Grapefruit or Wettabix! It is just the look!

Annaruthb · 03/03/2025 18:49

I am 52 and nver had a cup (or sip) or tea.....

oldmoaner · 03/03/2025 19:12

I never tried Tiramisu till I was in my 70s because I don't like cheese, but, I love tiramisu. 😂
I've never tried baked beans, curry, liver, mushy peas, beef burgers, kebab of any sort, rice, noodles, spaghetti . Don't like the smell so I'm positive I won't like the taste. Honestly wish I'd tried different foods years ago but was bought up on plain English cooking.

Black pudding. Haggis. Razor clams.

All bootiful😄

Are you an alien? Tea drinking should be part of the British citizenship test!

MasterBeth · 02/03/2025 21:08

Sure, but presumably you are now an adult and free to try cheap, easily obtainable food like Yorkshire puddings and Marmite.

As an adult I have tried all the things I listed except salad cream. I was responding to a poster who was incredulous that another poster didn’t have a jar of pickled onions at home as a child.

Took until my late 40s to try mushy peas.

With reluctance.

Once was enough.

I LOVE mushy peas 🤣

Black pudding. Haggis. Razor clams.

Black Pudding is brilliant. But I totally understand people being disgusted by it 😊

How can you not like "the smell of spaghetti"?

What does spaghetti smell of?

Horses7 · 03/03/2025 21:05

Tiramisu is husbands favourite.
I don’t think I could eat an oyster or similar 🤢

Horses7 · 03/03/2025 21:06

Or snails
frogs legs 🤢

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 03/03/2025 21:17

Tripe
Doner kebab. And I never will, after a friend (Greek Cypriot origin) told me about a kebab place in N London where they once dismantled the whole thing for cleaning. Inside was a seething mass of maggots. 🤮

TBH I had never fancied them anyway.

ALoversConcerto · 03/03/2025 21:21

Yarg. I have no wish to ever try it.
Ditto sushi. I'm only in my early 40s though.

MedusaAndHerFavourites · 03/03/2025 21:35

I've tried most things that are normalish for this country. Mil however won't try and hadn't tried very much. It used to drive me mad when she screwed up her face like a toddler now I just ignore her ignorance.

Mazanna123 · 03/03/2025 22:37

Peanut butter. I think it would take me straight to the "I've eaten too many.peanuts and feel sick" feeling.

thequeenoftarts · 03/03/2025 22:47

God I am boring lol, but lamb, rabbit, pheasant, duck, horse meat, offal, tripe, black pudding, prawns, any shellfish, tuna, caviar, snails, haggis, eels, brie ( boke).

@Annaruthb IMHO having tried tea twice you are absolutely not missing anything. I know many people love the stuff but for me, the smell, the taste, just disgusting 🤢
