I got told yesterday by the girl doing my nails that I had lovely long nail beds. I'm not even sure what a nail bed is but I'll take it.

DS was conceived via IVF. During a scan, I was told I had a ‘textbook’ womb lining ready for implantation. She was obviously right as it worked!

@Bbq1 I’m a phlebotomist. You would probably benefit from taking a hot water bottle and sitting with that on your “good” arm - or some of those wee charcoal hand warmers. They’re great for inspiring blood to a certain spot.

Thank you for that advice. They always say have i drunk water and I drink so much water anyway on a daily basis. I add more but it never helps.

I clench and unclench my fist pretty much from the 2nd I sit down in the chair for my (antenatal) appointment so by the time we get onto bloods my vein is popping

By a woman selling jewellery on the beach in India - 'Oh, you have so lovely big neck! Strong! Thick! Like elephant! Very beautiful. You need big thick necklace!'

I mean it was clearly intended to tempt me to buy one of her more expensive (fake) silver necklaces but she also genuinely appeared to think I would/should be flattered 😅

I am howling at this 😂

Did you buy her big thick necklace?

SargeMimpson · 22/02/2025 12:35

When I had a surgical biopsy for a breast lump, I was told (in a tone that implied wonder and awe) that I had almost no fat cells in my breasts.

Why thank you, I preened (inwardly).
Slim breasts!! 😂😂

Pity that's not the case all over the rest of my body 😂😂

I did earlier in the thread too. It is hilarious. I am imagining the whole scenario, accent and what was said. I think it would have made my day!
I wonder if she had big thick bracelets too ,for broad wrists made for building houses, collecting wood in forest
😂

😂😂😂

I'm also laughing because I had similar when abroad, a man told DH 'ah big strong woman, it is good, big strong arms, good for carrying and lifting, good like donkey' whilst patting me on the back like a fucking donkey 😂

TheBewleySisters · 22/02/2025 12:52

A surgeon told me I had a "sweet little appendix ".

Harveywoo · 22/02/2025 12:56

I have a “neat little cervix”. As if smear tests aren’t awkward enough already

I think they sometimes compliment you during those things, when they sense you're nervous. I was told I had a nice flat stomach by the doctor during an examination, I think she was trying to make me feel better about my multitude of stretch marks! 😂

Trunksarebetter · 22/02/2025 13:11

I was once told “Your legs are not normal!” in a weirdly enthusiastic way 😄 He wasn’t English, so I think it was a language barrier thing! He followed up by saying I must be a ballet dancer or something, so I’m guessing a compliment was in there somewhere?

Way back in the 70's when I was a teenager I was staying with my granny for a couple of weeks. She had a little gathering of some of her friends one morning, and I was there as well chatting to them. Out of the blue, my granny said to everyone, "I think people are either intelligent or have a lot of common sense". There was a short pause, then she said "monkeysonthemoon has a lot of common sense...".

Thanks gran.

I did love her a lot, though!

tbf Common sense is really not that common. 🙂

hookiewookie29 · 22/02/2025 14:04

Had an internal scan few years ago. Halfway through it, the doctor said I was very photogenic.....

coralsky · 22/02/2025 15:38

People often comment on how big and strong/ sturdy I am. I do like it but also makes me chuckle

Twillywoowooo · 22/02/2025 18:08

When I was about 10, the local priest was in our house. He was in his 80s. There was a picture of me on the wall and as he was passing it, he said to my mum “ah the Mona Lisa!”. I look nothing like her I should add but I felt strangely complimented 😂

Lesleymumof3kids · 24/02/2025 00:27

I was carded while buying a bottle of wine with my 18 yo daughter ....just me! I was wearing a ratty hoodie after being in the swimming pool with wet hair drying in and interesting fashion ( going home for a proper shower) and red chlorine irritated eyes . My daughter wasn't carded for the alcohol she had.

CobraChicken · 24/02/2025 00:47

Mine was from a close, totally platonic male friend of mine at university. We were sat beside each other and we'd both been drinking. He randomly announced that "Wow! Your face looks good from the side."

WTF! As opposed to being a total minger from the front, I assume? 🤣

Ruthietuthie · 24/02/2025 00:48

I am British but live in the US. One of my students told me "You have really nice teeth for an English person." She meant it as a compliment.

InTheWindow · 24/02/2025 00:52

XH told me I may be short but at least I was in proportion.

PinkArt · 24/02/2025 01:17

These are all fabulous. Congratulations to those of you with gorgeous internal organs. Isn't it lovely to think that while we're all stressing over a wobbly tummy or grey hair on the outside , inside we might all be sporting beautiful kidneys or a glowing uterus!

Don't want to show off too much but my colon was lovely and clean for my colonoscopy.

Mine too

Working at Tesco as a student- two of the boys working there who were a bit younger than me told me they’d ranked all the female members of staff and I was the third hottest. THIRD?! They couldn’t understand why I wasn’t pleased…
