What's the smallest compliment you've had?

I got told yesterday by the girl doing my nails that I had lovely long nail beds. I'm not even sure what a nail bed is but I'll take it.

I was once trying to make coins spin to entertain my three year old nephew. After two false starts I said 'sorry Jack, I'm rubbish!' and he looked at me with concern and said 'you're not rubbish'.

Best compliment of my life and he's a strapping six footer now. Jack thinks I'm not rubbish.

BobbyBiscuits · 21/02/2025 11:41

@Aliflowers I know, right!? I think he actually thought it was a compliment?

Sgtmajormummy · 21/02/2025 11:43

I bought a flat and the previous owner had deposited some money (££ not £££) in the homeowners’ association bank account for future expenses.
When I found out I was entitled to that money I paid it back to the previous owner via the HA admin so everything was traceable.
They looked at me in surprise/appreciation and said “Not everybody would do that!”.
Says more about them…

Fuelledbylatte · 21/02/2025 11:44

That my uterus was a perfect shape on my first scan.

I was like 'oh thank you very much' Blush

Wavescrashingonthebeach · 21/02/2025 11:45

Hcp told me i have a nice straight back 😊

CitizenZ · 21/02/2025 11:57

That I have a nice pink plump cervix.

Don't want to show off too much but my colon was lovely and clean for my colonoscopy.

Me too! I was very proud of that because the prep is disgusting and I struggled to drink it all.

Conversely, I was told that I had a very floppy cervix when having my coil inserted but in a frustrated tone indicating it was not a compliment.

I've been told three times that I have nice veins in my arms when I've had blood tests.

Gosh, I wish this was me. My veins are very poor more so since I've had cancer twice, which causes veins to collapse. I was so bad they ended up regularly using an ultrasound machine to take blood before and after my pick line. Now I'm back to check ups, cue me sitting in the chair for an age with everyone having a go at getting blood from me. On average 5/6 attempts with them always going to get "X who is the best at getting blood" but often, even they can't do it. I'm in there about 20 minutes until they manage to get some drops. My dh says he sees multiple patients going in and coming out whilst I am in there. I would love to be like you!

GreenSmithing · 21/02/2025 12:01

The shape of my feet probably meant I had good lung function, by a beautician who was very into reflexology

Oh I guess the "lovely face , shame you are fat" type thing. Told to me by a woman with very close set eyes and a huge conk!!!

She sees your face wasted on this body, i bet she was slim and can't fathom why you don't just lose the weight! I've heard a big woman lament the slimmer woman's dress sense because she was wasting her figure on baggy unattractive clothes.

quantumbutterfly · 21/02/2025 12:06

Apparently I have a very even skin tone....😂(almost as desperate as being the one with the great personality ..also me).😂

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 21/02/2025 12:07

When I was having fertility treatment the nurse told me my vaginal mucus was perfect
I was strangely proud😄

WeAreOnTheRoadToNowhere · 21/02/2025 12:08

But my veins are useless and it's hard for anyone to get blood so I'm envious of good veins

quantumbutterfly · 21/02/2025 12:09

I drink lots of water before my frequent blood tests, apparently it helps.

IceIceBabyBump · 21/02/2025 12:09

A 23-year old male bantamweight MMA fighter once said to me "We've got a similar bodies"

I don't think he meant it as a compliment, just an observation.

But he's long-limbed, lithe, nimble-looking, ripped to absolute fuck. So I very much took it as a compliment.

feemcgee · 21/02/2025 12:10

My DH told me once that I was quite good at folding clothes - only "quite good", not actually "good".

I was also once told that I have a come to bed eye - just the one, not the other.

Boodahh · 21/02/2025 12:15

Was asked by the GP whether I worked out as I had good abdominal muscle tone (the implication being despite having a fat tum).

Same female gp also said ' don't take this the wrong way but you have a long vagina ' 😲

LunaNorth · 21/02/2025 12:16

The umbilical cord was massive and meaty and hard to cut when I had ds1.

Thanks, I made it myself <preens>.

I know! It was almost not a small compliment because it was praising effort, not just being born that way. We prepped well. Good on us.

TulipTuesday · 21/02/2025 12:21

I had a student nurse in the room when I gave birth to DS2.

The midwife took the placenta and placed it on a table for the nurse to study saying ‘Oh this is a great one to learn from, look at that!’

I think I was more proud of my placenta than DS 😆

Ribidibidibidoobahday · 21/02/2025 12:21

Also, when I was getting signed off for a professional qualification my mentor wrote that I was, and I quote, "above average."

Yeah I am!

MoodySky · 21/02/2025 12:27

I went for an internal ultrasound scan and the doctor and radiographer both said "nice bladder!" at the same time. My proudest moment.

FuckMeUpFlorida · 21/02/2025 12:28

My 'small ears' have had a disproportionately high number of compliments.

Arraminta · 21/02/2025 12:32

I've been told, more than once, that I have very pretty shoulders? I didn't even realise shoulders could be pretty?

Walker1178 · 21/02/2025 12:32

I’ve got quite slim arms and legs. For a fat person
