I got told yesterday by the girl doing my nails that I had lovely long nail beds. I'm not even sure what a nail bed is but I'll take it.

My DS, 6 at the time, told me I was a good mum as I was old but sturdy!

Gettingbysomehow · 21/02/2025 12:38

From a patient: well you aren't as fat as you were last time I saw you.

Do they have a mental illness or autism or something? Were they very old or young to be so unfiltered?

TourneeDuChatNoir · 21/02/2025 12:49

I was told by a lady who was fitting me for a bra that I had a "very well-proportioned rib cage", whatever that was supposed to mean. Back in the days when it was still visible and not buried under many layers of fat.

honeylulu · 21/02/2025 12:58

The first time I saw my physio his face lit up and he exclaimed "WOW you have the flattest feet I've EVER SEEN" in a way that made me feel a bit proud!

sashh · 21/02/2025 13:04

From a student, "You're insane Miss, but you are our type of insane".

GhostInTheWashingMachine · 21/02/2025 13:10

The doctor who gives me regular injections, painfully because he's not very good at it (I think usually the nurses do it) says it's because I have muscular arms. As far as I can tell, in fact they manage to be both skinny and flabby...

Cherrywino · 21/02/2025 13:11

I was told by a make up artist at a wedding that I had a 'really perfect filtrum'

And once was told that I had "wonderful ankles for ice skating", which I'm guessing just means sturdy?

LimeLime · 21/02/2025 13:31

In my twenties a friend dragged me into a beauty salon and told the girl to do her brows like mine. Mine are entirely natural, so I felt rather proud of them. Still am if truth be told.

At out last school reunion (we were 58) one of the girls who didn't particularly like me said "how is your skin always so lovely, and no wrinkles!" So I was sure she wasn't being nice on purpose. Good genes and a lot of sunscreen, darling.

Thank you, I'm loving and laughing over this thread!

Kittygolightlyy · 21/02/2025 13:45

After some dental work, my dentist said you’re such a good patient lying there quietly not moving for an hour. I wondered what she might otherwise have expected.

FinallyHere · 21/02/2025 13:47

Work evening due, I blurted out how good a colleague who at work usually dresses quite scruffily looked in his evening dress.

He smiled and said I wasn't so bad myself.

Think he meant it in a good way. Hope so anyway.

'You have lovely arches.' Apparently my feet are a nice shape, as my best friend reminds me often. In my head my short, wide, high in-stepped hoofs tend towards looking like a wedge of cheese and are prone to plantar fascitis, but she sees only the beauty.

LadyMacbethssweetArabianhand · 21/02/2025 14:20

This brought an ex teacher colleague to mind. She was without doubt one of the most unpleasant people I have had to work with. Her 'compliments' came with barbs.
Your hair looks nice - from the back.
Those trousers are lovely - you're brave to wear them at your size.
I wouldn't have thought you were 40-50 maybe.
And so many more.

PerambulationFrustration · 21/02/2025 14:24

Someone once told me they liked my gait.
Obviously, utterly confused thinking they liked my gate and how would they know where I even lived.

This is a regular occurrence from the elders in the population. If you want to develop body dysmorphia come and work for the NHS.

Don't want to show off too much but my colon was lovely and clean for my colonoscopy.

You beat me to it. Apparently my bowel preparation was ‘excellent’ 🤣

HideousKinky · 21/02/2025 14:48

My physiotherapist told me I had excellent posture

I got told I had lovely ovaries on an ultrasound for a missing coil.

I wonder what ugly ovaries look like!

Mightymoog · 21/02/2025 14:50

I was told by a midwife that I had a lovely cervix

Whoyoutakingto · 21/02/2025 15:33

A colleague last week said she liked my hair and would like to see a photo of me when I was younger she bet I WAS really pretty!😂

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 21/02/2025 15:40

My niece used to tell me often that I was her favourite auntie with a fringe and that she loved me because I dress like a kid.

Sadly she’s now 11 and no longer tells me. Maybe it’s now just assumed?

I also have lovely veins.
