Help me with my living room again 😩

Sorry it's me again. So after thinking about doing something with my sofa that's gone out of the window.

But I do want to completely change the living living room. So basically change the walls and the floors, curtains.

My no 's are no dark walls. It has to be light although I will consider a medium sort of colour. Do I just paint or do wallpaper as well? Or maybe some sort of panelling

Floor wise I want to rip the floor up and put something better down. I'm open to the colour and type. I'm also now happy to put a rug down but short pile type.

I'm very against cushions and floor lamp/low light type. As I don't like a room that's dimmed . I like it bright light wise.

I have taken a few pics of the living room so there's a better idea.

I'm hoping to make a start this week.

For the other wall, if sticking with the wooden multicoloured drip effect, I would paint the slats before you glue them to the wall. You can avoid painting the ceiling this way.

I'm not doing any more of the wooden bits it was just that wall .

Well done! The sofa looks much less domineering now. How does it look with the blue wall? Are you pleased with the final result?

HazelNotHungryLC · 09/03/2025 19:45

I really like what you've done!
Enjoy your living room!

The blue wall is turquoise. I don't know why it looks blue in the pics . I think it looks alright. Yes I'm pleased with it .I just need to think about the window /door area now

Cracking job! Definitely did the right thing with the extra colours.
And they weren't mistakes. You were trying something new. It's all very well looking at a little picture on your phone. It's only when you've got the colour on your walls that you really know if you can live with it. Every room you do, you are gaining that experience and confidence in your own style.
You'll be on Interior design masters with Alan Carr before we know it!
(I'm not kidding. I'm seriously impressed, you've got an eye for colour. Most people would be too scared to try what you've just done.)

Interior designer with Alan carr 🤣 we won't talk about the time i out laminated flooring on my stairs wall when I was in temporary accommodation 🤣

Don't know why people would ne scared that's why white paint was invented. To erase mistakes 🤣

Thank you so much for the lovely post 💐

That looks amazing! Could we see a photo that shows the turquoise wall along with the wall with the wooden bits? 😍

You have a great eye for colour. I'm very impressed!

Oh, I love it! What colour rug are you thinking of? Maybe one of the colours of the wooden slats, to pull it all together?

I don't really know about colour of rug . I know it needs to be low pile though. I'm sort of wondering about a round rug . Not sure though

Youagain2025 · 10/03/2025 15:35

I do like that. For definite. I'm going to look on dunelm in a second. Would it be to much though with the wall and a rug that's similar. I also need to do the curtains or what ever I'm going to cover the windows with yet 🤔

OP posts:
SushiSheep · 10/03/2025 15:40

I think it would look OK because the stripes are going the opposite way to your wall.
And you've only used the shorter wall so doesn't look too much if you get what I mean.
It will definitely break up the black sofa,
your sofa already looks so much less dominant now that you've added colour!
With the window wall, I'd keep the wall white but get teal/turquoise curtains to match your bigger wall.
That will tie everything in nicely!

Yeah I'm thinking to leave it white yeah I might do curtains to match that wall . I'm also thinking if I should add voil? Type curtains to cover the windows . I'm not sure though. I sort of like it with nothing up

The stripy rug is lovely but I think the colours are much more muted than OP’s wall. I think they will clash.

I'm going to gave a think about it. A rug will be one of the last things I get . I'm thinking about the window /door wall and the lights.

Although if I decide against a striped rug I might get plain purple... I don't know 🤷‍♀️

I take my hat off to you - this looks so cool!

It's really time you recognised your willingness to try new things, to experiment & your creativity as the strengths they are. They might seem simple & obvious to you, but our best strengths always are to us.

Kind of want to see you paint the ceiling now...

Thank you so much I do like experimenting a bit .and trying to do things that are a bit different. Not really my creativity a basically copied that screen shot just made the wood different colours that's all . Still glad I done it though

The only paint my ceiling will ever see is white 😅

I might get these curtains. I have purple on the sticks. But they are 65.00 a pair I would have to get 2 because of the single window near the other end of the room . Unless I get a blind . Might change my mind yet 😅
