Help me with my living room again 😩

Sorry it's me again. So after thinking about doing something with my sofa that's gone out of the window.

But I do want to completely change the living living room. So basically change the walls and the floors, curtains.

My no 's are no dark walls. It has to be light although I will consider a medium sort of colour. Do I just paint or do wallpaper as well? Or maybe some sort of panelling

Floor wise I want to rip the floor up and put something better down. I'm open to the colour and type. I'm also now happy to put a rug down but short pile type.

I'm very against cushions and floor lamp/low light type. As I don't like a room that's dimmed . I like it bright light wise.

I have taken a few pics of the living room so there's a better idea.

I'm hoping to make a start this week.

I have only just woke up 20 mins ago. I have to sort this room out today finidh the painting properly. And another coat of white. But pissed of with myself I'm going on about wall art etc yet I have not picked up a paint brush all week. I need to get the white unit together as well I don't know if I can do it on my own I have become weaker than I used to be.

I started a diet a couple of days ago. I normally have a can of coke every morning. To make myself up. But I have had to stop them. I don't drink tea or coffee . So no caffeine for me 😔 I'm starting diet tablets today . And I have gusto coming at some point.

Well that's my boring morning thoughts. I feel so drained and tired today.

I just put my sofa in the garden. My small dog then pissed on the seat . I dont get why he does this . If there's something new in the house even like a box from a delivery he will pee on it . If I move an old item to a new place he will pee on it. He's been castrated. I have washed the sofa with white vinegar.

And new I have just realised all my paint and brushes etc are behinde this pile of crap. Feels like end of the world

No help at all OP but my daughter's cat also does this.
And yes giving up caffeine feels like crap until your body adjusts. You have my sympathy. But no actual help sorry!

Some animals are easily stressed :( Have you tried adaptil plugins? I'd get 2 or 3 and put them in the rooms he uses the most plus the hallway.

Stop beating yourself up! You're allowed to rest or get distracted!

Yeah I know. I can't do much in the week anyway as life gets in the way . And i normally choose a school holiday or long weekend to do things. But I spent all half term faffing.

I'm starting to loose heart abit to. No-one in the house likes the colours/what i have done .I'm starting to go off it because everyone else says its Crap. Then I think just carry on to the finish hopefully it will come together well. Then I can't find/don't know what i want.

Anyway I have done a 2nd coat of white on the garden door area. I now need to move all the shit from one end of the room to the other so I can paint that end..

You’re doing so well OP. I’m still pontificating about starting my decorating.

Life happens around it, and while waiting for the paint to dry you have thought about how you want the room to look and by asking for ideas, it's helping clear your mind

OP don’t be disheartened! Honestly, you whizz through decorating at lightening speed compared to most DIYers. It’s amazing what you get done in a weekend. If you need a weekend off, take a weekend off.

It’s your home. Who cares if your DC (or anyone else for that matter) don’t like it? It’s not their bedroom. When they are paying the rent on their own home, paying for the paint and doing the work, they get to choose the decor 😂 Trust yourself. Everything else you have done has turned out great. If you hate it when it’s finished, you can always repaint.

Why not have fun planning the artwork, if that’s what you feel like doing today?

Is it simply stacking the separate parts? Or is it drilling it to the wall? Are the units empty?

I need to get parts on top of the tall parts. I don't need to drill into the walls as it's already drilled from last time. I just need to rescrew it.

I have managed to put most of the unit back together. The screw driver is really hurting my hand though. I don't feel like i can do the middle section on my own because there's nothing to balance it. I should have done the middle first ffs.

It's been a bit of a hopping day to day. I keep going from one thing to another. I have done practically all the painting. Just 2 more small bits that will take 10 mins .

I need to get my sofa in from the garden. Then it's just shit dumped in the room. It reminds me of when I was living in a shithole its pissing me off

Today's plan:

Get the large drawers into the unit. And at the doors back onto the top cupboards. I hate doing that it really aches my arms. Tidy every away so I can see the floor.

Finish of the small bit of painting I have left to do. I don't know why I keep leaving it.

Then I can fully think about curtains, rugs, wall art /pics

Pace yourself otherwise you’ll find you can’t do anything for the next few days.

I don't seem to get much done on week days to be honest . But anyway if I do the doors it's more likely going to be towards the evening time . My living room is trashed and it's making me feel a bit shit . So I'm going to concentrate on tidying up and finishing the unit and painting later.

Someone on twitter painted their brown leather sofa purple with leather paint, @Youagain2025 , and I thought of you

I wish. I would do green with pink spots 🤣. I have an insurance thing on the sofas where if the leather gets accidentally damaged they come and fix it never had to use it so far but my luck is something would go wrong 😅

What's opinion on this for my darker wall ?
