For me, it has to be thongs, bodies that fasten with those tiny poppers underneath, and false eyelashes.

None of them. I stopped being influenced by fashion when I got past my early twenties.

CherryMarigold · 30/01/2025 17:08

Longchamp Le pliage and that Louis Vuitton print bag. I just find them so ugly.

Thongs. I genuinely don't know how anyone can go about their day with a wedgie. I wouldn't be able to concentrate on anything else.

Neutral coloured leggings and tops or worse those body stocking things.

Rosesgrowonyou · 30/01/2025 17:08

Big clumpy boots.

NovemberMorn · 30/01/2025 17:11

Not wearing a bra when you really should, (think Charlie Dimmock)
Wearing incredibly low cut tops as you age (think Susan Sarandon)

Agree about the barrel legs but I only wear wide leg and they look great. I think the taller you are the better they look. Hate with a passion skinny jeans and leggings

PuppyMonkey · 30/01/2025 17:13

All those hideous puff sleeve floral tiered long dresses usually in orangethat have been in the shops the last couple of summers - embarrassing. And so glad others on the thread have mentioned wide leg trousers and jeans. Why anyone would think making your legs look wide is “so flattering” is beyond me.

I also always laugh my head off at people tucking their tops in at the front, French tucks is it? It looks so silly.Grin

Wearing long socks with trainers! Apprently it's a clear sign of a millenial but I can't move on from ankle socks

Don't they have to be sports socks pulled up over leggings?

comeondover · 30/01/2025 17:15

Tiers

Rosesgrowonyou · 30/01/2025 17:16

Dresses and trainers.

Worldgonecrazy · 30/01/2025 17:22

Wide leg trousers - especially corduroy in purple or mustard, worn just below mid calf and teamed with Dr Marten ankle boots. They make the wearer look like a children’s Tv presenter, it’s a look very popular with the London weekend visitors.

GelatoPistacchio · 30/01/2025 17:24

I agree with PP on nails. I don't really like varnish/polish. There are some concerning chemicals in them and it seems like pointless exposure to me.

Long fake nails are just impractical.

I've heard that some people don't feel put together unless their nails are 'done' but to me they are just nails? So long as they are clean I don't think about them.

Peplum tops - those things are the work of the devil. See also capri pants/pedal pusher-type things - so aging and unflattering.

Absolutely! Nothing uglier than either of these garment!

TheLightSideOfTheMoon · 30/01/2025 17:28

This is a Potato Top.

Makes your shoulders look like potatoes instead of shoulders.

Such a weird idea.

Fillers, ridiculous eyebrows and tattoos. All hideous.

Lakeyloo · 30/01/2025 17:37

eqpi4t2hbsnktd · 30/01/2025 16:53

Skin coloured, skin tight all over clothing. Like a giant brownish/beigeish unitard. Worn by chunky girls so they look like a raw sausage.

Exactly what i was going to say. Awful, even on someone slim. Not sure if the full length ones or the cycling shorts length ones are worse ! I really hope they don't make an appearance again this Summer.

Designer handbags with overly obvious branding
Fake lips, eyebrows and really long fake nails
Bootleg trousers/jeans
Also agree with @Craftycorvid on the sleeveless jumpers, especially when worn with a thin roll neck jumper underneath
Pinafore dresses
Dry Robes (sorry!)

I’m a bit baffled when I see a woman wearing a sleeveless top and a scarf.

Which is bad as men wearing a thick padded coat, beanie hat with SHORTS! WTF is that about?

Cattenberg · 30/01/2025 17:42

For me, bad trends are either unflattering or try-hard.

Leggings tucked into socks? Very unflattering, especially when worn with … what are they called? Gardening clogs?

On a hot day, wearing long, thick sports socks with a strappy dress? A bit try-hard, especially if you have to fold the socks over three times to try to make them comfortable and take pains to keep the logo visible.

Painting your face orange and making your eyebrows look like black slugs? Both unflattering and try-hard, I’m afraid. I remember a TV programme where they gave some of these people makeunders. They always looked so much better afterwards.

Auburngal · 30/01/2025 17:44

Cold shoulder, potato tops and off shoulder tops are all for one thing imo. To show tattoos off.

Appalonia · 30/01/2025 17:44

Dungarees on adult women. Great on children or teens, but adult women? No. So twee and a bit infantile!

EternalSunshine19 · 30/01/2025 17:48

Crocs. All those holes make me feel like my feet would be freezing and wet especially when it rains.
also can't stand fake nails or false eye lashes.

I saw a young woman, maybe early 20s, at a Chinese buffet wearing an all in one, clinging and pale brown. She wasn't a small lass either. I was horrified! One the one hand, I thought it was great that she had the confidence, one the other, hell no!

Mine would be thick black false lashes.
Lip fillers.
Turkey teeth.
Fake tan.
Crocs and socks.
Skinny jeans.
Low waisted jeans.
Long nails, acrylic or natural.
Any facial piercing and definitely not ear stretchers. Apparently they stink! 🤢

Londonmummy66 · 30/01/2025 17:53

Low rise jeans and trousers. I have no hips so they don't stay up. Conversely I like wide legged trousers as I have wide shoulders so they balance me out. I do rather hanker for a return of the skinnies tucked in boots trend though.

Please leave the Pliage alone though - such a useful bag.

Queenofthejabs · 30/01/2025 18:06

Agree on the socks pulled up over your leggings, that’s just one of those daft try hard looks.

Completelyjo · 30/01/2025 18:08

Are bodies a trend? They’ve been pretty consistent since the 80s at least!
They’re just practical if you want a tucked in look.

Worse than that - replace the trousers with corduroy dungarees with bees all over them.
