Felt intimidated by person delivering my post

I was in the bath, when the doorbell rung. My bathroom is next to my front door. They then knocked aggressively. Went around the back, did the same thing. Then they came back around the front and started banging on the windows. I live in a small house and could hear it. This felt distressing to me especially since I didn’t know who it was. Got out the bath saw the sorry we missed you so knew it was the postie.

This is the note that was left

Check your online tracking on the Amazon app if you think it's a scam. It will tell you if an attempt was made and usually a picture if it was left somewhere.

Ok, glossing over the fact that you believe this person is a drug addict due to rumour rather than fact, I can understand that you might find it scary to go to the door of someone you believe to be a drug addict.

Can you ask a friend to collect it on your behalf, or ask someone to go with you?
You need to find a solution to getting your parcel collected, unless you're happy to give it up as a lost cause and lose the money.

well don’t gloss over it because he clearly isn’t right in the head to put it bluntly and has had the police chasing dealers who visit in the middle of the night outside of his house

Honestly Amazon have refunded me for the item and will be getting back to me within 2 days after their investigation. Either way I am not going to a druggies house to collect a parcel.

My head has fell off with this thread 🙈

MotherJessAndKittens · 28/01/2025 23:47

I would also be alarmed. Definitely OTT. We have a sign we put on front door to say “please leave on back doorstep if no answer. Some do have to be signed for but they usually take back to depot.

They'll probably investigate, confirm it's at 28 which you know already and cancel the refund.

You need to do two things

  1. Change your delivery preferences so they never leave it with a neighbour or leave a note
  2. Get yourself a ring doorbell

Hi everyone I've just joined so am looking forward to seeing how everything goes The lady has a right to feel scared or intimidated we all act different in certain ways 😀

Hayley1256 · 28/01/2025 23:48

I don't think they were trying to intimidate you as they wouldn't have known you were in. They knock loudly to ensure people hear them. My post/delivery people will knock lodly on my front and back door if I don't hear them the first time. I don't know how loud they knock when I'm not in

Hayley1256 · 28/01/2025 23:54

Does the Amazon tracking say its been delivered to number 28? If it does then I doubt its a scam otherwise your parcel would still be on its way

Good. Glad it's resolved to your satisfaction

I'd mute this thread now and go and enjoy your night

I don’t want to collect it because the person it went to is a drug addict

How do you know that this person is a drug addict?

NestaArcheron · 29/01/2025 00:20

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 18:43

The website says my parcel is out for delivery and expected at about 9pm

It can take ages to actually register it's been delivered - sometimes 24 hours.

NestaArcheron · 29/01/2025 00:23

Change your delivery preferences so it no longer goes to a neighbour and get a ring doorbell. I cannot believe they refunded you because you didn't want to get your parcel from a neighbour.

Our postman knocks so aggressively that he eventually put a huge crack in our 1930s stained glass door 🙈
we do like him though 😂

You don’t get to say that, it’s not allowed on mumsnet and it is hurtful

@Lovelybitofsquirrel3 "Incorrectly stating that it was delivered to a neighbour when this wasn't the case"

That's odd.
You've said it had been delivered to a neighbour at number 28.

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 29/01/2025 00:55

😂have you just publicly posted that you lied to Amazon to obtain money and included a screenshot? You have, haven't you! Isn't that called fraud? 😂You can't say it isn't at your neighbours because you don't know as you refused to go round!

LisaJohnsonsFacebookMole · 29/01/2025 00:57

Less funny is that you've lied about a delivery driver and caused them actual stress about their livelihood. That's really rather vile conduct. And all because you didn't like how diligently (if loudly) they tried to deliver your parcel. The absolute shamefulness of your behaviour!

I didn’t lie about anything this is what the email says. I didn’t report that they incorrectly stated it was delivered to a neighbour I reported that I couldn’t go round. I have photos of the Amazon conversation as well. This is like a game of Chinese whisperers

  1. This isn’t funny
  2. I didn’t get the parcel that I paid for with my money. So I got refunded my money. No money was “obtained”.
  3. I haven’t committed fraud
  4. I “refused” to go round because I never had a neighbour down as a safe place, and that person is not safe to speak to and I am not putting myself in danger

How was the driver to know that 28 was someone you don't talk to? You're being horribly unfair to someone who, let's face it, has no real comeback.

Then they shouldn’t have been aggressive or banged on my windows. They could have taken it back to the depot or left it hidden by my bins like every other driver has.
