Felt intimidated by person delivering my post

I was in the bath, when the doorbell rung. My bathroom is next to my front door. They then knocked aggressively. Went around the back, did the same thing. Then they came back around the front and started banging on the windows. I live in a small house and could hear it. This felt distressing to me especially since I didn’t know who it was. Got out the bath saw the sorry we missed you so knew it was the postie.

This isn’t AIBU. I know what I experienced. No one else was there, no one on this thread was there I am disabled and they did this because they were angry that I wasn’t answering the door. It’s not ok to intimidate me.

What does being disabled have to do with it? Confused

He probably thought you were in and didn't hear, and knocked harder. You could've just shouted 'leave it outside' if you were right next to the front door..

I don't know why so many people have lost their resilience and are so terminally offended.

I’ve had one open my front door, walk through my hallway and leave it on the kitchen table! I was a bit miffed, but I didn’t make this much fuss.

Why not. That would terrify me

Yes my house is a bungalow but I’m not elderly. Either way I’ve never experienced this before. The person listed on the note is the neighbour I have been avoiding as they are taking drugs and I have been warned by nice neighbours to stay away. That person recently approached me in my garden (came in without asking) and asked me how much something I had costed. The person isn’t my direct neighbour but at the end of my row. The note says Amazon on both sides. If this is a scam then I am really frightened.

Edited

@Lovelybitofsquirrel3 The note says Amazon on both sides, yet in your OP you said that due to the "sorry we missed you" you knew it was the Postie.

Something's not adding up.

HScully · 28/01/2025 21:36

Your probably over thinking a bit, delivery drivers often get bonuses for each parcel delivered on time, so sometimes try a bit too hard to deliver he probably wasn't sure if you heard him.

It can be intimidating when a stranger is at the door but honestly just shout, I'm on the loo can you leave it?

I came downstairs once and there was a parcel in my kitchen!

It says Amazon on both sides and says sorry we missed you and has a tick box that it’s been delivered to a neighbour I posted a photo

@Lovelybitofsquirrel3 I realise that.
It's obviously at number 28. Go and pick it up.

I'm fascinated as to why you accused the postie in your OP seeing as the note clearly says Amaxon.

Why not employ some critical thinking skills rather than parroting a call-centre,

Ha!! Well that expains everything!

fluffyblanky · 28/01/2025 22:03

I would be alarmed too I think. You don't expect them to be knocking persistently like that. You could have been an elderly vulnerable person for all they knew.

LordBummenbachsMagnificentBalls · 28/01/2025 22:05

My amazon driver sometimes leaves a card when he delivers large items to a neighbour. I have a small parcel box but there have been times when I ordered items that didn’t fit.
Sometimes one of the drivers does bang quite loudly on the door, they are in a hurry due to tight delivery targets and maybe sometimes express their frustration through their knocking.

I dont mean to be unsympathetic but what exactly is the scam here? You didn’t answer for the item you ordered, and the driver delivered to your neighbour instead.
Do you have someone you can talk to about your anxiety levels?

BringOnFebBankHoliday · 28/01/2025 22:09

This thread is crazy!!! 🤪

  1. Did you order something from Amazon?
  2. Do you have a neighbour at no.28?
If yes to both.... Go Collect Your Parcel!!

Why all the drama?!🙄

Neither do many of us.
It's at number 28.
I suggest you go there tomorrow and collect your parcel.

LucyRidesAgain · 28/01/2025 22:32

Weird for the postie to go round the back and bang round there and on the windows.
Really weird!!

Yes, so you need to go and ask the neighbour for your parcel. There really isn't any need for a drama. Literally just go to number 28 and ask for it.

I can appreciate that would be disconcerting when in the bath but I'd trade the loud approach to my postman who strokes the front door with a feather and then leaves me a "you were out" card.

😂😂

I don’t want to collect it because the person it went to is a drug addict

' The person listed on the note is the neighbour I have been avoiding as they are taking drugs and I have been warned by nice neighbours to stay away. '

So tomorrow morning, you go to the nice neighbour and ask her/him to come with you to collect your parcel from no 28.

btw do you have actual proof that this neighbour at 28 takes drugs, or are you just relying on 2nd hand info / gossip.

and next time a delivery driver attempts to deliver a parcel, use your voice
call through the window to leave the parcel on the doorstep and that you will be out shortly to collect it.

L0bstersLass · 28/01/2025 23:34

Lovelybitofsquirrel3 · 28/01/2025 23:15

Ok, glossing over the fact that you believe this person is a drug addict due to rumour rather than fact, I can understand that you might find it scary to go to the door of someone you believe to be a drug addict.

Can you ask a friend to collect it on your behalf, or ask someone to go with you?
You need to find a solution to getting your parcel collected, unless you're happy to give it up as a lost cause and lose the money.
