Felt intimidated by person delivering my post

I was in the bath, when the doorbell rung. My bathroom is next to my front door. They then knocked aggressively. Went around the back, did the same thing. Then they came back around the front and started banging on the windows. I live in a small house and could hear it. This felt distressing to me especially since I didn’t know who it was. Got out the bath saw the sorry we missed you so knew it was the postie.

“I’ve been told” by people on the thread who know nothing about the incident in real life. They are assuming. Amazon themselves don’t know if it was a scam or not and either way they themselves have said that their driver shouldn’t have been banging on my windows. Nothing I have said was exaggerated and was very frightening and unnecessary. When I didn’t answer he should have left

You said earlier that Amazon said it was a scam!? But it's now they don't know?

SillyOP · 28/01/2025 20:18

What do you hope to resolve by posting about it here?

Maybe she wants one of us to go pick up her parcel?

Hey @Lovelybitofsquirrel3 send me your address and I'll go get it from 28 for you 😁

I kept getting passed around associates telling me different things, either that they are investigating the driver or it was a scam and wasn’t the driver. I am stressed enough and need a break now after hours of worrying about this.

What do you think the 'scam" actually IS?

I don’t know I’m only reiterating what I was told

Or not told. Remember Amazon said it was a scam then they said they didn't know if it was or wasn't.

Some of the replies on here are actually shocking! There's a severe lack of empathy towards others nowadays.
Just because you wouldn't have been frightened it doesn't mean that someone else wouldn't be.
If you've nothing nice to say and just want to be goady then piss off to AIBU.

^sitting on my dining table.
Brilliant - request a refund!^

That's thieving. Bad karma.

I’ve been so distressed by this situation for the last few hours. It has ruined my evening.

You need to get help for this. Being distressed for hours and having your evening ruined by an overly keen delivery driver really isn't normal.

And the refusal to go and collect from no. 28 because you think it is unsafe.

I would assume it’s because OP said they are drug addicts. Some can be quite unpleasant people.

If they've taken a package in for her, I doubt they're intending to do her in when she collects it. Considering the level of anxiety a bit of weed smoke might not be the worst thing.

No and I’m not going to

Why not? It says on the missed delivery note that it is at no 28nso why not just go and get it.

Rizzla · 28/01/2025 20:51

I would be scared too and think it’s not acceptable to bang aggressively or go round the back! You were clearly busy or not in.

Aggressive with your gate? 😂😂😂😂😂

treesandsun · 28/01/2025 20:54

I can imagine someone knocking loudly and repeatedly might make you jump and put you on edge when you're in the bath but I would try not to overthink it too much. Amazon aren't reliable with their delivered/out for delivery stuff - I have had emails saying parcel delivered to householder - when I have gone to message them - the choice says give it 24 hrs and it is often delivered the next day.
It looks like it has gone to the (dodgy?) neighbour - if you don't want to ask them alone could you ask the nice neighbour to go with you? Alternatively, contact Amazon - tell them it was undelivered to you and you are disabled and can't collect it from where it is.
I would then get a lock box for future deliveries so you can collect them when it convenient for you.

OP I hope you are feeling a little easier. It can be scary when someone is banging on windows when you are alone. There are some unpleasant replies on here when someone posts looking for a little support. Rest your mind OP you don't have to justify yourself or reply to mean comments.

My house is only small. They knocked a lot and very loudly, aggressively and went between doing that with aggressively banging on the windows at the front of the house. It’s not normal to bang on someone’s window when delivering post. They were also aggressive with my garden gate and did the same thing at the back. It’s how I’d expect someone in a huff to behave.

Edited

At Christmas time, I had a parcel delivery guy navigate the closed blinds and half hung in the front window dropping my parcel on the sofa in front in the window. I was in the shower and I thought someone was breaking in!

This isn’t AIBU. I know what I experienced. No one else was there, no one on this thread was there I am disabled and they did this because they were angry that I wasn’t answering the door. It’s not ok to intimidate me.

Sorry but you have no idea what their motivation was beyond trying to deliver a parcel. I wish he'd give lessons to the bloody Amazon person around here. Huge sign on the door saying I am disabled so be patient and do not dump parcels on the floor outside the door. Same instructions on theior delivery notes. They don't even bother knocking, never mind anything else - parcel just dumped outside the house on the floor where I cannot easily pick it up without a risk to me.

Are you a millennial? They're frightened of their own shadows!

As a (just about 1994 born) millennial - I completely agree. My peers are complete pansies!

I’ve had one open my front door, walk through my hallway and leave it on the kitchen table! I was a bit miffed, but I didn’t make this much fuss.
